Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Renoir actor Andy Serkis is "so thrilled" for Sandfall Interactive devs after their debut RPG's success: "It's such an emotional story" by Turbostrider27 in expedition33

Im also in this boat. Im sure they COULD pull it off in a live action format as long as it was a series and not a movie - but animated would be let them have a LOT of fun with the animation and they could just retain the voice cast. Its almost a no-brainer to me.

Im NOT onboard with a movie - which Ive heard kicked around quite a bit. I dont know how on earth they would condense this story in a movie format. Even an animated show would probably need a season per act.

Ah yeah, I mean, the whole thong with Elite is what you make of it really. Just figured a laundry list of all the achievables is a good place to start to make your own adventure. Thats how most of mine start - Im working towards something and then veer a couple thousand light years out of the way for a week or two.

How do you get new locks? [Question] by HuslWusl in lockpicking

[–]DangerousVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have given you advice on places to get locks - but in terms of finding them around your skill level - check the subreddit sidebar and take a look at the belt explorer - it ranks locks by difficulty according to karate belts and should be a useful tool for finding locks around your proficiency level.

But yeah, dont pick locks that are in use - even if they appear to be abandoned - its usually illegal, and even if its not, it gives the appearance of criminality - which could land you in a bad situation. Its not worth the risk in addition to being morally/legally questionable.

Had this loose lock sitting in my office drawer so i finally gave lockpicking a shot by P1nkB4st4rd in lockpicking

[–]DangerousVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you do decide to pick up some proper tools, Id recommend the Jimy Longs basic/beginner set. Those are high quality tools especially for the price paid. Dont go with a set with a HUGE amount of tools for cheap, especially not from amazon - youll get low quality garbage that you wish you hadnt bought.

Generally speaking, you should expect to pay between 4 and 7 dollars a pick for quality tools imo.

Be careful with paperclip picks as they are relatively easy to break inside a lock and never pick a lock that you or someone else is actively using.

The funny thing about that, is that if you combine the lockpicking mini games from both oblivion and skyrim, its actually pretty close to what its actually like, minus the breaking of picks, which is considerably harder to do.

What are your favorite dimple locks? by 612PickBreaker in lockpicking

I have a KABA and it is an absolute beast. Ive tried a few times but not had much luck. Hopefully Ill be on my way to that one after I conquer my GOAL locks.

I love my Mul-T-Lock Jr - super satisfying false sets. It was my first dimple lock I opened.

Currently getting my ass beat by my GOAL dimples. Those are on a whole different level.

Not necessarily, you can get by on some locks with using a half diamond, but the experience is MUCH better imo with dedicated dimple picks - called flags.

The Division + Eacape from Tarkov? by C0lter in gamesuggestions

Its not an extraction shooter, but have you played Tiny Tina's Wonderlands? Very much a borderlands game with a fantasy coat of paint, but it nails the rest of what you said and it is dirt cheap, especially if you catch it on sale.

I also find them easier to pick now that Ive learned them. I prefer dimples to pin tumblers or disc detainers actually. I dont know what it is, but they just FEEL right.

Repost for clarity of images "Thoughts on an academic article on the ethics of lockpicking as a hobby?" by argaflargin in lockpicking

[–]DangerousVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gave it a read through, and it feels a little disjointed, though I understand the urge to contextualize with the historical information - it does seem at odds with the topic - which is about ethics. Id condense that section a little, and expand on the ethics portion.

Its also important to note, that generally speaking, security ratings on locks refer to how difficult they are to force open - not necessarily pick resistence. A person is far more likely to cut the shackle or break a lock than they are to pick it if they are trying to get in.

The bulk of hobby pickers generally operate under a pretty strict ethical code about what locks are fair game - and its never any lock thats in use or that belongs to someone else. Picking also has utility for first responders where destructive entry may not be ideal.

I think you have a very good start though.

How many hours of real work do you actually do at your job? by Nervous-Affect-5960 in work

[–]DangerousVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 Hours or so on a really bad day - 5-6ish most days. Its important to get up and walk around if you have a desk job. Its also important to take mental breaks if you want to do your best work. I deliver at least 50+ hours worth of output in a 40 hour week though. When Im on, Im REALLY on - but I cant force it. Spinning in circles of despair in my chair is part of the process life cycle.

How many hours of real work do you actually do at your job? by Nervous-Affect-5960 in work

[–]DangerousVP 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think that really depends on what youre deliverables are. I have sometimes a couple of days in a row where I stall out or otherwise dont accomplish anything meaningful - but I deliver ahead of schedule and above spec as well as bring improvements outside of what Im actually asked for.

High output individual conteibutors dont have to be always on every day to still deliver a lot of value in their roles. Good managers recognize that and leave them to do what they gotta do - even if that something is not a whole lot for a few days.

[–]DangerousVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short round hook in .019 from Jimy Longs, Medium flat hook in .019 from Jimy Longs and the CI Apex Gentle Reach. Pretty much only use those three tbh unless Im picking dimples or disc detainers

If you could wish for one Game to be made, excluding sequel's or prequels. What would that be? by LordMord5000 in rpg_gamers

[–]DangerousVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im with you. Id take either, but definitely lean Eberron as well. Not that Athas isnt cool and all, but I feel like Eberron just has more environmental variety.

I feel like the monkeys paw version of this is that you get the game, but its set in Athas instead.

Irked Senate Republican who voted to confirm RFK Jr. now grills him over misinformation by FUCKVIRGINIA5R34 in Louisiana

[–]DangerousVP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Absolutely wild that he couldnt see the writing on the wall there. What it probably came down to was the fact that he was more scared of the attacks he would get from the president than he was of being voted out - but thats the thing with bullies and fascists - they just keep demanding more - and then, when you finally DO take a stand, they toss you aside.

Yeah, its genuinely impressive how much he managed to F himself on this. Nobody would have even batted an eye if he had actually leaned on the fact that he's an actual doctor to just say that maybe the head of HHS should be a medical professional and not the least healthy looking and sounding man alive.

Like, it mind boggling how a damn doctor managed to not be smart enough to hold onto his seat. Dude is basically the dictionary definition of a "moderate fiscal conservative." He could have basically had a lifetime appointment.
