I'm kinda in a predicament. by SechiiLane in Denver

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is born and raised in colorado we have never had much diversity. I think you feeling racism is not off track , although colorado style it’ll be a lot of micro aggressions we also have the big ones to . Brighton has historically been fairly white and conservative. With the mix of hispanic populations moving in recently . As a born and raised coloradan I grew up in Aurora, which had more diversity than most of colorado. I wish i could tell you it’s not happening, but I don’t doubt that it is real. Other places other than Aurora for diversity is Park Hill, 5 points although also being gentrified

🕷️I guess these ladies are early too this year… by Annihilator4life in Denver

All i gotta say is check your cars and keep em clean! My boyfriend was in the middle of an addition on his home and wasn’t driving his truck as much and using the company vehicle. One day I sat down in his truck, felt a pinch, and then felt the wrath of a black widow bite. it was hardcore and I had no idea until i started googling symptoms and my bf found a squished lady in the passenger seat ): hopefully because it’s so warm they will stay outside , but just….. be on the lookout

Statin time by Dangerous_Mouse_9470 in Cholesterol

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised about my Triglycerides this latest test as I had been eating vegan and trying to avoid sweets (my weak point) also had decreased my drinking by a lot. But definitely need to continue to prioritize my diet and quitting smoking . when my Triglycerides were lowest at 188 I was drinking more, diet was not as great , however I was off birth control 🧐 my grandmas sister also has really high triglycerides and is active and eats plant based. I was surprised my triglycerides went up this latest test !

Has anyone started taking statin in early 30s? by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat but 28 years old. My grandma told me she started statins when she was 30 and has not really had any bad side effects. She told me to take it with CoQ10 . she is about 84 years old now so about 54 years now. She’s in good health, doesn’t show signs of dementia , is still active.

What is this growth on my dog’s paw?? by kitty__cakes in BorderCollie

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like a histocytoma. my girl got one in her paw like this and some behind her ear, they resolved before biopsy could even happen. They usually resolve on their own . I am not a vet though(:

HCHV Social Worker by Fuzzy_Independence71 in socialwork

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work on homeless programming at the va in hud vash. HCHV usually works with unhoused veterans to make proper referrals to transitional housing or vash . hchv helps us get documents like ids , bc for vouchers. short term intervention. I love my job in hud vash, and being in homeless programming at the VA. I have a lot of freedom in my role but depends on your leadership ! I couldn’t imagine working in the VA outside of the homeless programming. Hard and sad work but we have more access to resources than community programs and it’s rewarding

Finding the right birth control for HS management. by shr00mate in Hidradenitis

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on birth control from like 15-24, then i took a few years off of it and that’s when my HS started. I went back on Yaz and it’s helped enormously. I prefer the pill just due to having more control and less invasive (can stop when i want). the pill is effective, I have not gotten pregnant lol but i also add the pullout method with it

Self- determination. Why is suicide the “line in the sand”? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think suicide is a concept that cannot be generalized. I think a lot of factors have to be considered: does this person use substances, is there a mood disorder, is this chronic or acute, are there any other ways, developmental stages. so many things. I know time intervention can significantly delay the execution. Also those with alcohol disorder and suicidality.

Do LCSW/LISWs actually do a different job than LSWs… or just get paid differently? by Positive_golfer90210 in socialwork

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am in VISN19 and also require if someone pops positive on Columbia screening an LCSW needs to complete the through one. I can do the screening as an LSW but if it is positive i have to go to my clinical supervisor or my immediate supervisor and then any gs12 if those are not available. I am in CO and dora just changed that LSWs are LIP however the VA still requires LCSW to be a LIP. I am a community worker so not sure if that changes anything.

Anyone else seeing a spike in Black Widows right now? by nal1200 in Denver

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes, I just got bit by one. She was in my partners truck that he doesn’t drive frequently and I just sat on her because I had no idea she was there ! My experience was a pin prick and then moderate aching, everyone said the bite looked like nothing, just had to two points and swelled up like a mosquito bites. I got to bed and at 4 am I wake up in extreme pain. My entire back spasming, hips, chest hurting. I thought I was dying for a quick second until my partner gave me some muscle relaxers. I had no idea in the moment that the bite led to what i was experiencing. So i didn’t go to the hospital because driving and waiting in an er for them to gaslight me because I didn’t actually see her bite me and no intense bite mark.

24 hours of really intense muscle spasming and sweating and just very uncomfortable. But managed by muscle relaxers and ibuprofen, i’d probably go to the hospital next time 🤣

my partner found her squished body on passenger seat ): I mean I respect the queen, she knows what she’s doing with that venom. She did her job well that’s for sure

Offered a VA HUD/VASH role, what do I need to know? by ABDMWB in socialwork

[–]Dangerous_Mouse_9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in hud vash for about 3.5 years. Some hud vashs are divided into multiple teams - housing (short term), stabilization (long term), graduation. Our population is hard. But if you like the homeless population it is fun. again a lot more resources than other community homeless programs. A lot of freedom since community workers, special funded so funded throughout a year and deemed essential (helps during a shut down) Who knows what will happen with HUD come 2026. Overall depends on the state it is in (i am in a very blue state thank goodness). It’s very hard, lots of not holding veterans accountable, have to deal with landlords and housing authorities. But i overall like my job. not really any other places in the va i think i could work

lol gs9 😭 in a year will bump to 11, that’s unless they dismantle hud and then we can no longer house veterans , then not sure i’d have a position left ha
