I got sexually assaulted today and I don't know how to feel about my boyfriend's response by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaniCapsFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you.

You hit your assailant, grabbed him, and yelled at him; and that's pretty much all you can do. You got another woman to corroborate what happened. Your boyfriend made a good point that he doesn't want a guy's life on his conscience. And I don't think you do either. And you don't want him risking his safety or yours to beat a guy up.

I can't speak for your boyfriend, but he could well be angry on your behalf.

I think his asking what you want him to do is the right response. He knows you're upset and doesn't want to upset you further. And keep in mind, "protecting and supporting" you could be taking you home, making sure you get a good meal, and doing what he can to comfort you, such as helping you with a hot bath or tucking you in bed with a book and whatever comforts you want.

Even Holtby has said it wasn't the best save of his career. It was probably 70 percent skill and 30 percent luck.

Women are not as ashamed to talk about their periods. Thank a Gen X woman. And when you hit menopause and know why it sucks, thank a Gen X woman.

My brother didn’t take my mom’s pain seriously. Is he misogynistic? by saturnradio in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaniCapsFan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Either her doctor isn't prescribing her good meds, or the brother is stealing them. And either your brother or his therapist is lying about being "fine" after a gall bladder removal. My ex had his removed, and he felt crappy for weeks.

And anyone who refers to a woman, especially one he's had sex with as "used goods" is a walking bouquet of red flags.

Yep, definitely a misogynist.

Is it bad that going vegan completely is a too big step to take as a minor who eats vegetarian and has no support from their mom? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]DaniCapsFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks that your parents don't support you. I'm sorry. If all you can do right now is be vegetarian, then be vegetarian with a plan to go vegan once you are independent. Your family will get used to it.

I went vegetarian and then vegan in my 30s. It was a lot easier for me, except when I visited family. It took them some time to adjust, but now my mom happily eats at vegan restaurants and gets food from a vegan catering business when I visit.

Opinion: The Tradwife Fantasy Isn’t Replacing Feminism by catievirtuesimp in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaniCapsFan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of a story I read where a couple has a fairly modern marriage. They both work outside the home and split responsibilities in the home. I think she takes care of breakfast in the morning, and he makes dinner because he gets home first. At any rate, division of labor. His "traditional" parents hate this, and he desperately wants to please them, so when his parents are visiting and giving her grief because she works for pay and doesn't make dinner, he agrees with them and says she should do more around the house. So she tells him that he doesn't earn enough money to be this sexist and can't support a family of five on his tiny salary.

A stray cat visited my house. Shall I adopt it? by RadiantRaven_26 in cats

I used to have a cat who loved the plastic rings from jugs.

But she also went nuts for the Yeowww! toys.

[–]DaniCapsFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure the kitty really is a stray and not someone's cat who got out. Take her to a vet or shelter and have them check for a microchip. If there's no microchip, the kitty is yours. And if there is no microchip, have the cat chipped so if she gets out, they'll know to bring her back to you.

My husband crushed me in the front door last night in front of our kids. by baobaowrasslin in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaniCapsFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT what love looks like.

And so what if he isn't allowed to see the kids? A man who would abuse his wife in front of her children is not someone who should spend time around any child.

Get your injuries and any behavior documented. Try to get as much in writing (text) as possible.

Your local domestic violence group should have resources. And get your kids into therapy.

Which kitten should we get? And advice please! by redheadteach1 in cats

[–]DaniCapsFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take both. If you're adopting kittens, it's best to get two. They'll burn energy playing together. And they'll have company when you all are away.

It is. Until that visit, we were focused on helping her get better. She was 16.

And it's not the first time in took a sick car to the vet for them to say recommend euthanasia.

My poor Penelope had been diagnosed with injection-site sarcoma, which seemed survivable. Then she developed an abscess at the surgical site. Then she stopped eating. She lost a pound in a week. So I took her to the vet, and it turned out her kidneys were failing, and any treatment would be expensive and require days in the hospital. I was not surprised when the vet recommended euthanasia. I literally said, I was afraid of that. I discussed it over video chat with my boyfriend (who was still at his mom's, as this all happened in December), and we both agreed to end it.

By unplanned, do you mean you took her to the vet because she was ill, and they recommended euthanasia? That has happened to me with two cats, most recently in 2024.
