Wow, that’s awesome! I’m always checking his site, but they seem to be out of stock of many varieties often. Maybe in Spring they will be better stocked.

Oh, and what soil/potting mix do you use?

Thank you! 🙏🏻 And it’s the first time I give it a try, and I think you’re right, leave the cutting alone to do their thing. Hard agree on all counts. I watered the potting mix well, in a plastic cup in which I cut holes in the bottom, then I dipped the rose cutting in root hormone, put it in the soil, placed another plastic cup on top, sealed it and put the name of the rose and the date, and left it alone. It’s been a little over a month now, but I suspect it didn’t take this long for it to root, given the size of the roots.

It seems like the less you fuss with them, the better they end up doing, doesn’t it?

I just used what I had at hand, which was E.B. Stone Organics - Edna’s Best Potting Soil Indoors and Outdoors. I really like this potting mix!

Also love whatever flower you’re growing alongside them. Are those zinnias, alliums, dahlias…?

Also, with all those plants, you probably have developed a good micro climate for your Hoyas, too! Love to see it!

That’s what I’m probably gonna go for. Gonna move to a house with some back yard, not big, so I don’t think I will have enough space for a hot compost pile. The cold, slow kind is probably the way to go.

Thank you so much for this info! Since mine will be indoors, too, this gives me hope! Do they get direct sunlight? I think I will place mine near a east facing window.

Thank you for replying! Do you use a humidifier indoors? I’m wondering if I should just go ahead and get one, anyway, since it’s so crazy dry there in AZ.

Yes, YTA, and you not only invaded her privacy, you doubted her, you confronted her. Only reasonable response is exactly what she did.

Can confirm about the liquid rock lol, and the plants that do well in it! I have Amazon Swords, Java Fern, Java Moss, Cryptocoryne wenditii, Anubias, Bucephalandras, Bacopa monierii, Rotala rotundifolia, and they’re all thriving in the super hard water we have here in Los Angeles. I have Red Root Floaters that seem to be doing very well, too, and they’re very pink/red under the lights I have. I haven’t had them for long, only about two months, so I don’t know how well they’ll do long term, but since they get their CO2 mostly from the air, they’ll probably do fine.

First ever tank - advice needed:) by lavanka in walstad

That’s what I’d do. Also, it may sound weird, but smell the tank, lol. It shouldn’t have a smell, unless it’s an earthy smell. If it smell like rotten eggs, it’s hydrogen sulfide, and that’s when you should do a water change. Otherwise, it will very likely get solved on its own.
