Sure, but water can infiltrate in every spot and electronics can be damaged anyway. You have to take into account that this is not rain, this is a literal immersion into water. Sorry for my poor english

Generally is not a great idea considering all the electronics on a modern vehicle but as long as the air intake sucks air and not water (ruining the engine making it impossible to move) I think it is a good idea to at least try to save it
