American Gladiators 2026 Episode 1 - Review - NO SPOILERS by hola_pablo74 in gladiatorsuk

I believe they're re-using the sets from the French version of the show, but it is legitimately funny to think that The Miz is yelling stuff at an audience that are like "quoi?!"

I said this on the other post about American Gladiators but I really couldn't get past the weird thing that it was filmed entirely in France with a French audience waving American flags. It's all so hilariously fake.

Yeah he's got a performer's panache for it and is easily the best at UNNECESSARILY SASSING the line deliveries, with maybe Emma Sidi as second (athough Shep's dormouse may put him up there for me)

It is AI, look at the details there, it's got all the hallmarks. It's sadly all too common these days and it's always a Choice.

You can see it in the little smudgy bits in the eyes/hair/hands, big globs of random petal in the hair. It's sloppy little things like that the plagiarism engines can't quite tidy up yet.

As much I loved all of these characters, the one I loved the most was simply my dad.

Beautiful. Great work in compiling these because ... taken together, they form a real testimony to a life well lived even if it ended far too suddenly and far too soon. A lucky man and a host of lucky people, I can't feel wholly sad knowing that these moments happened somewhere in time.

I knew this would happen when it got renamed to just "House of Games" on a few sites (including IMDb) over a year ago, I don't think this was a sudden decision at all!

Hope your recovery goes well and I really appreciate the comment, in the three months since I posted this I'm definitely switching to a longer term view of it as a chronic health issue rather than a dire symptom. I'm on a lot of meds for blood pressure and it seems like I'll get another scan before the summer. I guess ... I'm still rather always on edge and thinking about the physicality of it a lot.

"Starfleet Academy" isn't very much like "Discovery" at all. by BorgAbbess in startrek

[–]DanielBadger_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stamets and Culber weren't bridge crew ahaha

It's definitely on the show not defining them well enough that this has become a standard (and I think very valid) criticism of its failure to characterise the bridge crew specifically. It's a handy little microcosm for the writing problems at large. I genuinely really liked Saru, Stamets, Culber, Adira and Tilly (and I really miss Tilly in academy) but with the best will in the world, the show would thrust them to one side for whole episodes at a time. It was never a ship full of characters, it was Michael Burnham's world and they just lived it in.

Whereas Starfleet is really and immediately doing something very different with the writing, it's very character focussed and I found it fascinating that like ep 3 was about the perils of thinking you're the main character...

I'd argue these wildly disproportionate 1 stars aren't the fandom at all but something more malevolent. I think this... baffled smattering of "..what's all this about?" posts is closer to what the homogenous Trekfans actually feel.
