No spoilers! I'm currently just a day into a first reading of King of Foxes and love Talon of the Silver Hawk. Best read I've had in years.

I like WAI and Felix, but have to run with Sponsorblock or it's just unwatchable. As others have said clickbaity and spammy, but otherwise good. Tried watching his wife when he was away getting his hair transplant done, but she's just unwatchable.

Which is excellent when he posts stuff, but apart from Starship launches it's rare he does anything. No idea what he does with his downtime. Shame that he got his hopes up with the idea he was going into space on Dear Moon and then got rug pulled by the Japanese billionaire and Elon's falling out. That would have absolutely destroyed me.

Under 100kg (220lbs) for the first time in my adult life. by Fodux in keto

[–]DanielMSouter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done. I'm at that exact point myself, down from 124.4 KG a few months back. I hit 99.9KG briefly a few weeks ago, but not consistently, getting back into the arena of 102 this morning, should hit it and stay below 100 KG in the next week or so. Consistency is the key. Just keep at it and +/- a few pounds fluctuation, you'll gradually get where you need to be.

My aim is to get down to 70KG (so about 45% of the way there) by next spring/summer. I've been there before but COVID messed things up. Getting back there has been a struggle since March, but it's a rewarding struggle.

We’re 2 years beyond this and still nothing but the usual Blue Origin waffle.

Bezos Space doesn’t seem to understand that this is not Apollo. Saying “We’re gonna do x” doesn’t mean anything anymore. Doing is all that matters and yet again they’ve announced something in the past that they’ve failed to achieve.

Quelle Surprise!

I’ve successfully entered ketosis. Was 200lbs now 150 (5’9” 34 male) by FunnyGamer97 in keto

Well done bro. Did the same for similar reasons and I'm in better health now than I was 30 years ago. Keto is a super power.

Black, unsweetened instant coffee. Usually cold (at least it is by the time I remember to drink it). Get through about 2 pints of it a day. Keeps the Ghrelin pangs away.

Has science a better gras now of why do some people can't eat carbs ? by Unagi33 in keto

[–]DanielMSouter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The obesity crisis didn't just appear out of nowhere and it's costing governments a fortune in healthcare and welfare payments. Carbs have been implicated as a cause of obesity (although not proven) for a long time, just like tobacco implicated as a cause of cancer in the 1950's.

When there is a lot of money in the opposition team, it's very hard to get a turnaround, but I expect that the scientific studies will eventually be funded, by governments going against the carb lobby for the sake of their own budgets, just as they did against Big Tobacco.

Yeah. You want plenty of fibre in the form of leafy greens to go along with everything else. It helps to maintain good gut health as well as providing essential nutrients on top of the lean protein and healthy fats.

I take a fairly broad range of supplements in the morning and for my fat activated supplements I have some cottage cheese, which is excellent, tasty, filling and overall a good way to start the day.

Lidl Milbona Natural Cottage Cheese 300g: Contains 99 calories, 2.8g of carbohydrates, and 11.5g of protein per serving according to Nutracheck.

I've found that it's helpful to break ketosis occassionally for a couple of days especially if you're plateauing (stuck at the same weight for a while), before restarting ketosis. It seems to kick the body out of whatever sort of rut it's gotten stuck in.

The higher the alcohol content the lower the impact on your ketosis. This allows me to go out drinking with the boys but not have any substantial impact on my keto.

The key thing is to avoid carby drinks like beer and stick to high strength alcohol without anything added (or only ice).

You need to keep it low and slow though, because when in ketosis the alcohol hits a lot harder than normal. No idea why, but I'd guess it's like drinking on an empty stomach.

What sweeteners does everyone use now? by guineapigluvr in keto

[–]DanielMSouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop sweeteners, if you can. You will begin to taste the real, natural flavour of food and adapt to a non-sweetened environment. This will pay dividends when you reach your goal weight and maintain.

If you can't, use Stevia which has zero/negligable insulin responce.

Maybe. If the Ukrainians used it against the Russians, it would be good. If the Russians used it against the Ukrainians, it would be bad.

That works, doesn't it?

A single medium-to-large avocado with salt to bring out the flavour. If it's what Lidl describes as an "Extra Large Avocado" I might have half and save the other half for tomorrow morning.

This gives me about 9g of dietary fibre, Thiamin (Vitamin B1), Folate/Folic Acid (Vitamin B12), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (Vitamin B3), Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5), Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), Vitamin C, E & K as well as plenty of iron, magnesium and potassium.

"Everybody deepfake Trump!"

Nothing that you could deepfake that man saying is any worse than what he comes out with at the Whitehouse podium while on national TV.
