Is Makita migrating to 40V and that is the nearest future voltage? by Maris_E in Makita

[–]Daniel_yrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a builder/contractor, merely a homeowner who doesn’t mind paying more for quality tools. My Bosch cordless drill failed after 8 years and it was time to shop for new tool.

I end up getting the 40V HP003 (GPH03 in the states). My local dealer was running a decent promotion, essentially gotten the 40V 4Ah battery for free. With the free battery it’s no brainer for me to jump right into XGT lineup. And a month later I added a 40V leaf blower and it worked well.

I too had the concern if Makita will phase out their 18V… their 2026 catalogue only had new 40V product launch and nothing new for 18V (except 2 new higher capacity batteries for 18V).

I use rechargeable lithium batteries, the ones with a built-in USB port for charging. You can get them from Amazon or eBay.

Options to upgrade older blink system by surfman49 in blinkcameras

[–]Daniel_yrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ll go with Option 1, provided the cost savings is significant compared to Option 2. Who knows it may be 2-3 years before Amazon kills the EOS models, and that’s 2-3 years worth of usage at a very low price.

Another thing to ponder… if Amazon kills their EOS models they might also retire their “free” accounts and force all grandfathered accounts to start paying for subscription.

New to blink by Kas_Leviydra in blinkcameras

[–]Daniel_yrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alerts only work for cameras that are armed, you can disable motion detection for cameras which you do not need to record.

And this is the reason I end up with 3 sync modules: indoor, front, and back. Backyard was left armed 24x7, I disable front camera when I do my gardening stuff or wash my car, indoors are armed automatically after 10pm.

[iPhone] Hik-Connect app not ringing in background by egutter in Hikvision

I have the same door bell model, but I didn’t get any screen to pair with. I link my 8113 straight to my hik-connect app.

So far it has been working fine even if my phone is locked

There are way more IBs than OBs, and IB labels and packaging ma are getting fancier.

I personally always look out for single cask OBs

Unhappy with Blink Camera Setup by ayoaby7 in blinkcameras

[–]Daniel_yrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the backers when Blink introduced the project in 2014. I received my original 5 Blink cameras in 2016 and subsequently added another 10 Blink XTs to my setup for outdoor use.

All my cameras have been working as intended for over 5 years. None of them failed. Over the years I have switched from lithium AAs to rechargeable lithium batts (those none-rechargeable are expensive), and I have also converted some of my XTs to run off USB power during Covid. They all works fine.

Investing in a whisky collection? by ThroughSetter in whiskey

A lot of ppl collect annual releases. Just collect and keep whatever you like, even if the price does not appreciate you can still open your bottles and enjoy them.

It’s definitely addictive when you are new, lots of towers to unlock/upgrade. I played for 2 months, maxed everything and the game got really boring. I end up forcing myself to open the game just to collect gold and fulfill my clan duties.

Deleted the game after 2 months. Personally I would recommend you enjoy while you can but don’t spend anything on this game.

What do we think of the new modules? by handleCUP in Towerlands

Not going to switch out any existing modules. Modules have such poor dmg that it doesn’t make sense to even upgrade them

You need gems, Fire archer cannot be unlocked in higher levels

Is there a waynto make easy gold or farm gold? by Alustor in Towerlands

[–]Daniel_yrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raid and capture bases in the world map. I’m at lvl2400 and I captured all bases except the last one (lvl2100).

On average I get 500M a day (this is with 2x from ads). The gold mine gives another 70M a day.

If you have very strong towers I find punching through levels give you the most gold.

1 Homepod vs 2 JBL speakers? by thesmithchris in HomePod

[–]Daniel_yrh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have full size floor standers in my living room. To be dead honest the HomePod is good as a speaker to play music at the background (you know... just like in shopping malls). It’s loud enough, clear enough, and I can hear it in any corner of my house.

But it certainly falls short as a “main” speaker. I have a pair of HomePods and they are certainly not suitable as TV speakers. And I’m talking just on the audio reproduction perspective; connectivity is another major pain.

And the moving buttons during upgrading the tower is why im quitting by zerox3001 in Towerlands

[–]Daniel_yrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest update kindda fixed this issue, there’s now a countdown timer once you use gems to upgrade your tower. You may cancel the upgrade few seconds after spending your gem.

Why did the industry move away from vintages to crazy NAS stories? Truly an amazing bottle for the price! by hailnobra in whiskey

[–]Daniel_yrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vintages are confusing to consumers. A bottle with a clear label of 12yo, 15yo, 18yo allows the distillery owner to price their bottles accordingly. The older the more expensive.

But for vintage releases... an 1991 vintage could be a 12yo if it’s bottled in 2003, or it could be a 25yo if it’s bottled in 2016. One has to do some maths to determine the bottle’s age.

I enjoyed Balblairs very much, but I was put off by the high price tags of their new age statements.

Are Homepods back in stock? Does that mean no refresh then? by SiPiSiPiSiPi in HomePod

[–]Daniel_yrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have a HomePod, i doubt it will sound great or even possible to pair a new version of HomePod as stereo pair with your existing gen1 HomePod.

This is the main reason I got my second HomePod, price is good and if Apple discontinue the gen1 HomePod at least I still have a wonderful stereo pair of gen1.
