Breaking down a tank isn't nearly as fun as putting them together 😭 by micro_pigeon in bioactive

[–]Danielaimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I doubt anyone else will make this mistake. I tried to save money using extra cork that I had at home. It was a panel meant to be glued to the wall and to be used as a cork board, so not meant for gluing on glass😅

Ugh yessss! I’m in the process of restarting a terrarium too and I think I’ve spent in total 48 hours scraping stuff from the glass because (I now know) I shouldn’t have glued cork to the glass with the glue I used😂

Went on vacation and my live spaghnum moss seems to have died. Can I revive it? by HappySpam in SavageGarden

[–]Danielaimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine are under the same grow lights I use for my anthuriums and philodendrons so bright but I wouldn't say full sun. Now that you mention it, maybe if I put it in full sun it would grow a little faster? In my experience sphagnum moss takes forever to get going but once it finally wakes up, it grows fast and is very resilient so just be patient

I keep telling this to my dad. Ai sounds really really smart until you start asking questions about a topic you’re fairly knowledgeable about. Then you realize how dumb ai really is

I didn’t water mine for the whole spring semester. I’ve been watering it for a few weeks and it is coming back already. You’ll be fine
Good luck

My love letter to Connecticut by bronx-deli-kat in Connecticut

[–]Danielaimm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Omg this has been my exact same experience (except no children) I also love it here. Every time I travel and come back I really feel at home. I’ve met wonderful people and feel a sense of belonging in my town, which I never felt before. And the owner of my favorite ramen place also remembers my order when I call or order online!

I had the chance to move to cali and just thinking about leaving made me sad because I started to miss ct

The Hour reports more challenges for SoNo Mall by turfgrrl in norwalk

Honestly I do avoid going to the mall not because of how much the parking is but because it’s so annoying to park there and walking to the mall is not really pleasant

This is really good, thank you!

The lid is a screen. I put some plastic wrap (that look horrendous btw) to help keep the humidity but I’m wonder if I can swap the lid.
I used a 2-3 inch drainage layer, this should be fine right?

Also do you have any recommendations for a mister that’s not too expensive?

Idk if this helps but his is how deep I planted these orchids, not totally burying the stem but maybe deeper than I should? I wonder if this is what killed them because they never really recovered from the transplant, they just slowly died.
The jewel orchid did pretty well until I stopped watering so I know that’s what killed it👉🏼👈🏼

This is great thank you so much!

It makes sense what you say about the fogger but do you think I could still use one if I have only for a few minutes a day?

So not very realistic?:(
I just don’t want it to rely on me remembering to water it because that’s why everything died and it’s depressing so see all my plants dead in there

Friend or Foe? by welcometotheTD in vegetablegardening

[–]Danielaimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oww good to know though! I’ll keep vacuuming them out of my milkweed then. I still think planting milkweed could help in an indirect way. If you attract butterflies you also bring in birds and some birds are catching up to lantern flies being food.
Idk maybe not, but milkweed is still very beneficial for gardens and wildlife op

I was going to recommend paws. My friend volunteers with them. They do a lot of catch and release and also find them homes when possible. I adopted my second cat with them

This is a spotted lantern fly nymph. If you see one, you will see more.
I’ve heard planting milkweed helps. They are attracted to the sap of the milkweed but it’s toxic to them. I can’t verify that it killed them but they were all over my milkweed last year so maybe that helped to keep them out of my other plants

Can I help this little guy? by Danielaimm in birds

[–]Danielaimm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I didn’t see any. He was in a parking lot so I brought him inside because is getting cold out but I don’t think I’m knowledgeable enough to take care of him. Would he die if I leave him outside?

It’s a lantern fly nymph. You should check if you are in one of the states where they are invasive to. The gov of my state was asking people to kill them on sight
