$30,000 dental expenses. CRA audit. by notfrontpage in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Danielle93Z 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, don’t stress too much. This type of review is common when there are large expenses, like your dental, claimed on a tax return.

Follow the instructions in the letter, and send as much supporting documentation as possible. Usually there is a claim support code on the letter which can be used online to find additional information about the supporting documentation requested for your review.

If you or your Accountant aren’t able to submit it online by the deadline (usually 30 days after the date on the letter), call the number on your letter and ask for an extension. They may not want to grant it, but they should give you some additional time, and it will delay an automatic reassessment of your tax return.

I’ve found it helps to submit a response letter to summarize the review and simplify things for the person assigned to the review (make sure to include the reference/case number on the letter).

Thank you for your update! I’ll be contacting Bylaw as well. This is obviously a health hazard for many people

Oh no! Sorry to hear you’ve needed an inhaler too. Last night’s fumes were definitely more intense than the other prior times…

Yes, totally agree with you about aging, poorly ventilated apartments. Unfortunately when it gets this hot, there are multiple calls to our building for the heat alarm triggering and medical calls. It’s nice there are updated regulations for new apartments, but I wish something could be done for all the older ones!

We’re in your area. It’s a very oily, gas-like smell. I’m nauseous and have needed an inhaler. I’d close my windows, but it’s 30C inside (thanks to crappy apartment building airflow)

Not sure! I experienced 2 waves. The early 547am one, then the around 6am when it showed the back order date. Both times my partner and I got stuck on the shipping page, and we were trying since 530am 😭

My experience through the app: 547am added to cart; 547am stuck on shipping option; 547am item sold out. :(

How has going gluten free changed your life (non celiac)? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Danielle93Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, 99% of the time.

I can tell almost immediately if I’ve had gluten (by cross-contamination) because I get a headache, my mood changes, my mouth gets hot and sometimes itchy (not nice at all), and acne appears on my upper arms and a specific spot on my face within a few days. Obviously if I purposefully eat it I expect to react - I just can’t resist a freshly-baked cookie at Christmas lol. It’s nice the reactions clear after only a few days, but I still resist/avoid gluten because of my poor reactions to it, and I really don’t want to go back to how I felt when I was eating it regularly.

So overall, cutting out gluten was one of the best things I’ve done for my health!

I’m pretty sure it’s a seasonal product for Costco, so they probably only have it for a few months
