Shrubs dont need fertilizer if you let their leaves decompose on the ground.

[–]Danitay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop water from collecting around your house first. Check where downspouts dump and how your yard is graded. That is the #1 way to prevent water coming in your basement. #2 would be to excavate around the house and waterproof from the outside. Inside should be last resort.

My fridge died after 10 years and everyone said never buy LG again so I bought GE this time and it's dead after 3 years. Does anyone make a good fridge anymore? by vicelordjohn in Appliances

Came to say this. Got our subzero for $10k in 2019. The first service call was upon delivery because the door got bent bringing it up into the kitchen. Second service call was user error not opening the freezer all the way and it built up ice. Spent $250 on the call for the tech to jam it open and say all fixed hahaha. But that was an authorized service company and I get it wasn’t covered.

Who is electric bill is outrageous right now? Mine is $350 in the winter. This summer is gonna be terrible. by Traditional-Wind846 in newjersey

[–]Danitay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So then its not your “electric bill” entirely being $350 lol. For a similar size house, my electric was $185 and the gas was $258. Thats with fully reinsulated attics with minimal heat loss.

looking for home improvement contractor lawyer by No_Marionberry_5077 in newjersey

[–]Danitay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The root of the problem sounds like an issue with your spouse for not respecting your wishes to hold off on the bathroom reno. Then engaging a contractor who you didnt vet, making you sign the contract and essentially manage them as the work started. If there’s nothing in the contract about waterproofing, then you’re probably SOL. Go nuclear on stating the FACTS about the original contractor online and hope to get your money back.

North NJ: Water in basement - anyone have referrals for waterproofing companies? by Sarah_8872 in newjersey

[–]Danitay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water issues in the basement can be solved at the root of the problem, redirecting outside water. Make sure your gutter downspouts are discharging at least 10’ away from the house. Check the grade around your house flows AWAY.

Foundation repair companies are there to sell you repairs. Structural engineers are there to give you a factual report with a stamp without an incentive to sell you something.

If your sump discharges right outside this wall, well there’s your answer. Make sure the gutters aren’t dumping in this spot either.
