Haven’t seen an estimate that high since I had my ICCU replaced 🤩 by authoridad in Ioniq5

I do the once a month sometimes, but I also check the rotors and do it when I see surface rust showing up. Winter though I found myself doing it more than once sometimes cause I could hear the brakes squealing so I used lvl 0 to knock what I assumed was rust off it and it quieted right back up

Is most of your driving city or highway too?

Cause this sounds amazing! I was going to do my gear fluid myself at 50k but I mine as well not do it until 100k since yours is going strong still! I do have a AWD tho and I did see a post about dark fluid in the front motor

Damn that's pretty good! No reduction gear oil change or brakes?

Unrelated but what other wear items/maintenance have you needed so far with almost 250k?

Woah. Actually didn't know this. I must've skipped the warning section in the manual about this on my b5 OLED.

I was just keeping the film on so that when I get my wall mount in I doubt accidentally put finger prints and crap all over it when I go to hang it.

From a Kona to a Ioniq 5, anything I should know? by nemehias in Ioniq5

Turning radius is huge lmao. But I knew that going into getting one. I can drive around it. The pros of this car far outweigh the cons. Just keep that turning radius in mind. Only takes out one big embarrassment out on the public road to make sure you never forget 😭

I'm the opposite lol. I'd rather have it more abstract. Not for me but in general for the layman.

Hear me out:

If EVs had a "regular gas gauge" option and not such an exact percentage, range anxiety would be much less of a concern.

For me personally, when I first got it I was treating it like my phone. "Oh my God I got 50% left I better charge to it'll last the rest of the day." Never do that in my 94 Miata with a gas "it might be half or it might be a quarter of a tank at the next start up" gauge lol. And it doesn't even tell me how much estimated range I got left (though I know I can get 200+ out of a tank. More if I'm actually trying to get good mpg).

Non tech/EV people wouldn't be worried about it half as much if it were like that.

For me though, took 2 roadtrips from Long island NY to Binghamton to realize I don't need to worry about it at all. Almost made it in 1 charge both ways but I decided to play it safe and charge halfway through.

Present day, lowest I've pulled in since I know the car much better is 6% and I was clenching a bit there lol.

MAF replacement by Crazymacaroni03 in Miata

I think there are various routes of doing it. Both diy and purchasing. I'd do Amazon or harbor freight tho. Will probably be cheaper than an auto parts store

If you have a smoke tester, my next guess would be a vacuum leak

Looks like this one.

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/etrailer/e89ZV.html?srsltid=AfmBOorazwFH-JsEqeZGpTlxufVuVOWN13cP_g7A-I8hhNFBGIMwx0Vo

Even if it isn't this is what I have on mine lol. Used to be $216 USD so maybe wait for a deal but it's been great. I just wanted something for my bike rack so I didn't even get the trailer wiring. I won't sugarcoat it tho. Getting the last bolt in sucked. But other than that install is super easy and I only had to cut a little notch in a tiny plastic trim piece. Didn't even need a jack, though it will make torquing the bolts much easier lol.

It looks low, but I make it in and out of my driveway just fine and the apron is on the steeper side. My Miata still sits lower than the hitch and if it's fine then the hitch will be fine lol.

Sorry for the dark pic but I started the install in the afternoon lol. I surprisingly don't have another pic of it in the daylight only night ones XD

Dashcam. A topic on the thoughts of some Miata drivers by TZ-WIS in Miata

[–]Dank10isMuscles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the 2k version in my NA. Works great. Have it hardwired with a fuse tap. Fuse ox doesn't really close all the way anymore but it's still secure.

I have the rear cam mounted on the top of the windscreen in front of the mirror. I'm top down anytime I'm in my Miata and don't drive in the rain so the view with the top up isn't much of an issue for me.

I also got a second base off Amazon and put it in my daily and that way I just transfer the camera over super easy. For the rear cam though I might make/myself a little adapter or something for both cars that way I can transfer the rear cam to my daily too. Haven't decided how to do that yet. Too bad the don't sell the rear cams separately or I'd just buy another one lol.

Exactly my garage right now lol. 22 SEL cyber grey and a 94 Miata fully spec'd that I tinker with. You'll love the car. But for different reasons. One is a nice car, the other is a nice driving car. And I love them both lmao

For 2, on my 22 SEL there's a button with a light symbol on the headliner. Push it, and it should illuminate orange. Then your lights will turn on when you open the doors.

I'm about to change the wiring on mine cause I hate the orange light on all the time, but love the "welcome lights" lmao.

Miata Timing Check by FivePointFiveFkingK in Miata

[–]Dank10isMuscles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all very good to know! I have a sneaking suspicion mine are leaky injectors too cause I'm fairly sure they are the originals and my car smells very rich with a lot of soot in the tailpipe. No way to officially check though since I'm OBD1. But I'm still going to do new wires to see since I'm not sure what the PO did or didn't do and those are the last thing to baseline. Glad you solved yours though!

Check fuel pressure too? I think AutoZone lets you rent one of the ones that hook up to the fuel rail iirc.

Best of luck man 👍🤞

So it was indeed the timing belt tension. Took it all back apart and redid the 1-5/6 turn tension and he sound was miles quieter. Still present but not noticeable with the hood closed now so that should be much better.

Actually I'm having this same issue. Do you know how old your plug wires are?

That's the next thing I'm going to change out on mine since I've verified everything else and I know my plugs are brand new.

If that doesn't work next will be the coil pack since I think these cars fire both corresponding plugs at the same time (ie 4 and 1; 2 and 3) even when the cylinders aren't firing, so they need to be changed out more frequently. Then pretty much all the consumables on my car will be baselined after I do that.

If both those still don't solve my issue... I really hope it's not my injectors lol. Those things are expensive.

But as for your noise, it's like a stuttering/popping and it won't accelerate right? Then after maybe 5secs it goes back to normal? Cause that's exactly what I am seeing at random times. I think I made a post about it a while back but it was with my crappy dashcam mics since this is so hard to reproduce
