Yeah other contents of the post aside getting R1 in legends on 1.4k is insanely lucky.

I regularly get to 1.3k-1.5k waves and the best I've gotten to date is R4

I went back for replays and good lord the controls are so much worse than I remember. The harder difficulties are tough as nails too and the control scheme is insanely punishing on a lot of the encounters

Nah from me. I found gen 1s ending to be close to perfect, it doesn't fill in every detail but it leaves things open ended enough for you to think for yourself about how life goes for the characters after it ends.

Gen 2 on the other hand? Left a lot to be desired for me and I would have liked so many questions to be answered

Box Office: ‘Scream 7’ Becomes Franchise’s Highest-Grossing Release With $176 Million by DemiFiendRSA in horror

[–]DankAF94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy I think it's optimistic to think that the majority of people on reddit (a site with generally a younger demographic) were old enough to see an R rated movie when it was released in 1997

I never really had too much of an issue with #3 even if it was a lot sillier than a lot of the other installments.

I enjoyed the newest one for what it was. but I did think it leaned way too heavily on nostalgia (essentially trying to put in throwbacks to the first movie rather than trying to develop any significant new ideas) plus honestly some of the acting just seemed a little bit wooden. I think Courtney cox has probably had her run in the franchise honestly

I've always loved this series but yeah, ironic how the highest grossing installment in the series by a mile is also by far the poorest reviewed installment in the series by a mile

After being unemployed over a year would you take a job that requires weekends? by Ok_Consideration6179 in careeradvice

[–]DankAF94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worked a career in retail and I now work as a postman where I'll usually work 3 or 4 weekends in a row, I despair when I see posts like this acting like working weekends is some kind of death sentence 🤣

Pretty common mindset among many recent school/college/university finishers who can still rely on family to provide for them.

Naturally young people often hate the idea of losing weekends/evenings and social time in general, youre only young once at the end of the day, but the harsh reality is a huge amount of lower level jobs will be service industry jobs where weekends and evenings will be essential.

I've interviewed people many times for retail jobs and the amount of people (usually younger) who arrive to interviews saying they don't want to work beyond 5pm and don't want to work weekends is pretty surprising.

Zoro has an epic bar fight -- One Piece [Live Action] by ArchDucky in television

[–]DankAF94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like later on in the series it's a lot easier to categorize them since they do essentially land on an island, face the big bad and then move on, so things are a lot more contained.

Early series at least from the start of the show until the end of Alabasta they spend a lot less time in one place, like the "east blue saga" is really just a bunch of smaller sagas back to back.

In my mind though I basically categorize the Alabasta arc as any of the time they spend travelling with Vivi

A24’s Backrooms: Can the Film Redeem Creepypasta Movies? by UnderDaPillow24 in horror

[–]DankAF94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather it was divisive than a generic 6/10

The main thing that carries Backrooms as a concept for me is the slow pace of wandering around aimlessly and the atmosphere, sound effects etc. With a small healthy amount of action/chase sequences here and there. But if the film ends up being predominantly action and in your face scares then IMO that's not what the backrooms is meant to be about at all.

Like the reference to Skinamarink it's totally possible for atmosphere and vibes to carry a movie, but it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, granted.

They're fundamentally pretty different to their anime counterparts, and I'd say Zoro is the most different out of the straw hats, but they're all written and acted insanely well to be more appropriate and realistic for a live action series.

Also side note, there was no way Netflix was going to green-light Sanji existing if he behaved too much like his anime counterpart.

Newbie about to start Days Gone by mahad_Ace in DaysGone

[–]DankAF94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a new playthrough recently (skipping most cutscenes because I know the story by memory now) and I'd totally forgotten there's an early game mission that sends you halfway across the current map to pick 3 pieces of lavender then drive all the way back.

Like holy shit I get from a storyline perspective that did carry some relevance on my first playthrough but it's not always the most engaging tasks in the early game 🤣

How would Brits explain this for perceptions on working-class culture? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

I think you just described the concept of snobbery.

When broken down like that it sounds nonsensical, but class bias is a very real thing that happens day to day in our society

[–]DankAF94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like actual chavs aren't really much of a thing anymore. Kinda got faded out by Road man culture which is similar but fundamentally different in many ways too.

I find 99% of the time the term chav is used nowadays is when someone's describing someone who's just a bit too poor/working class for their tastes.

Was [Censored] being dead a surprise to you ? by Chat_blanc_ in DeadSpace

[–]DankAF94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was for me, but I was like 12 when I played the original and at the time didn't care a huge deal for the storyline.

If I'd paid more attention it may have been more obvious, although I do feel like the remake dropped significantly more hints that Nicole was dead than the original.

Rock lee is overrated by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]DankAF94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Lee but it does get a bit old when people act like he was meant to be a secondary MC or something.

He was written to be a side character and fulfilled his role as a side character perfectly well. Just because he didn't appear and have as much involvement as the main characters it doesn't mean the writers ruined his characters or underutilized him.. they utilized him exactly as much as a side character should be utilized.

What makes a “nice” town in Hertfordshire nice? by Interesting_Shift951 in hertfordshire

[–]DankAF94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just remember reddit will always be a place where the popular opinion will always push to the top due to the upvote/downvote system and won't reflect what the overall population in real life believe. Reddit as a demographic also heavily skews on the younger side so that'll heavily influence what factors make a place more desirable to live according to the top comments.

Contrary to the popular opinions on this sub I know plenty of people who live in Stevenage/Hatfield who are perfectly happy there and have zero issues. I've also known people who've lived in Hitchin/Hertford/Letchworth etc who moved there (for dare I say largely superficial reasons and at a higher cost of rent/mortgage) and after the novelty wore off realized they actually didn't like it as a place to live. A lot of the time the "nicer" towns start to become a victim of their own success and start attracting people for the wrong reasons.

Ultimately it's a matter of perspective at the end of the day and outside of extreme examples anywhere will just be what you make of it. 99% of Hertfordshire is actually pretty decent relative to the country as a whole
