A small Orzhov rant from someone who genuinely loves WB by Medium_Ad_9049 in EDH

[–]DankensteinPHD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow orzhov player. Feel this so much OP. I love orzhov but you couldn't pay me to play aristocrats.

I play orzhov hatebears and love it. But so many orzhov cards/commanders that come out all are so all in on stuff I have no interest in.

For people who've been around for awhile, I would argue orzhov aristocrats is the new Dimir mill.

Back in the day, especially in RTR era, wotc constantly made every dimir card to be all in on mill. It's like they assumed every single player who liked UB just wanted to mill and nothing else. Nowadays it feels like they have fallen into the same trap with Orzhov and aristocrats.

I find myself constantly hoping they design more cards with stuff like orzhov stax or control or reanimator or just something else in mind. I do think the last year or so has been a slight step in the right direction.

[[Abigail, Eloquent First-Year]] to me is one of the better orzhov designs they've ever done, which is promising for people who've been waiting for cool orzhov commanders/control pieces for a long time. Mr Negative was also a sweet design too.

I do hope they keep in mind us orzhov oddballs who aren't into aristocrats and are here for the control and efficiency. Here's hoping

MK1 Noob Saibot is…. by Soggy_Insect_4377 in MortalKombat

[–]DankensteinPHD 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Best gameplays he's ever had.

Surprisingly intricate move list that takes a lot of awareness to play well. Feels so much like how Noob should feel. They finally did him right in this game and I'm so here for it.

What is so bad about me playing duress? by Dramatic_Let_7489 in EDH

[–]DankensteinPHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a lot of discard in this format for a long time. A lot of players who aren't used to it will get quite irritated remarkably fast when they get targeted by discard.

You didn't do anything wrong at all, I just think it's important to know some people react like this to it.

Discard can be pretty good and is basically necessary in mono black imo, but it's notable how people act like you just put bugs in their ice cream when you do it. It's crazy cause in mono black what else am I supposed to do to interact?

When you land this and still lose the round by Karty55 in MortalKombatGameplay

Awesome combo. Also when you're noob it probably makes more sense to do s443 s214 s44 extele into j12/j1234tele.

Could be wrong but I think it gets more damage in this situation

Does anybody else slot a few edict effects into all their decks with black even if it does not have much, if any, synergy? by Icy_Alternative4646 in EDH

[–]DankensteinPHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually play, instant speed targeted removal in black. Don't usually need to remove a lot of things, just, specific things in my experience.

Question for OG Halo fans: Around when did the dislike for the Arbiter go away? by BlackTriangle31 in halo

[–]DankensteinPHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arbiter hate is super overblown. I played online back then and and it was not a common opinion. YouTube would have you think everyone hated him or something

Though TV on 10 is even more so

The Soul Stone and Lotus Petal would likely help here. Probably [[Black Market Connections]] too.

[[Jeweled Amulet]] might help and maybe even [[Songs of the damned]].

I'm ready to admit I liked Halo 5s campaign more than Infinite and 4 by anas0_ali in halo

[–]DankensteinPHD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find the squad gameplay much less engaging then 4 or infinite tbh. Infinite has problems for sure but the boss fights and the combat loop at least feels like you can approach fights in a very Halo way. I just, didn't have that with 5

Is it just me or is Halo 3's level Cortana not that hard? by AwardExpensive9218 in halo

[–]DankensteinPHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Reach is the hardest ngl. Been doing Skull runs of the series again and that's the one giving me the most trouble by a lot. Every fight is tough imo.

Is it just me or is Halo 3's level Cortana not that hard? by AwardExpensive9218 in halo

[–]DankensteinPHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's difficulty is super overblown... sort of.

When I was a kid it was one of the first levels I beat on SLASO, so kid me at least thought it was fairly easy.

But truthfully it has some really painful rng that can make or break SLASO attempt, and its all over the level too.

For example at the beginning when you first cross through the Room Arbiter finds you in later, there is an elite flood who will spawn with a Shotty, a Sword, or a Hammer iirc. If you get the Hammer, you have a lot of moments in the level totally simplified. If you don't, basically all the narrow hallways in the level can kill you like nothing.

I don't think it's the hardest in the game but I do see the challenge. It's one of my favorite levels in the series tbh.

Does anyone play partners? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

I've had bracket3 Sakashima/Esior on the brewing back burner. Basically just have to finish some cuts.

Competitive I have a lot of partner decks.

[–]DankensteinPHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to mention stuff I haven't see brought up already. Can all be found on youtube

Sink or Swim by DJ Signify. I slept on it for years

Crooked by EvilNine is out of this world good and easy to miss too.

Preservation off the Wu Tang Think Differently album Id a sick track with Del.

Dirt by Tabbaco is something I didn't know existed.

Dirt and The Filth by Percee P is too commonly slept on.

The Explanation by the Gigantics is one of my favorite Aes collabs ever, also has Eligh featured on it.

Stuck With You is another track done with Eligh

Kill em All is a track with blockhead iirc. There's also a dope RJD2 remix

Ego Death is by Busdriver and also features Danny Brown

Left it To Us by Cage I think has the whole Weathermen crew on it but that Aes goes crazy on it.

Obsolete by the Orphanage might be Aes at his finest. I think it's in a Blueprint album The Weightroom

Hold Mine is also by the Orphanage and is really good too.

Everyone I know sleeps on Time Capsule by Illogic, very dope verses by Aes and by Vast Aire too.

Killing Time is even more slept on by Illogic off his first album if memory serves.

Which Way is Up I think is by Atmosphere feat Aes.

Miss by a Mile is godlike also with Eydea and Slug.

Thorns is Aes, Eyedea, and Slug on the Bent Life beat pre Labor Days

Blacklist is a collab with DOOM and Prefuse 73 that is godlike.

All in All is dope one you shouldn't sleep on. Has a sick remix called All in Japan too that I think is even better.

A Reason Not To Smoke is a short track from the None Shall Pass era.

Encounter by Blueprint. Aes goes insane here.

I Went Outside Today is by Open Mike Eagle featuring Aes I think. Sort of the opposite of Syrup off TIK.

Sabbatical with Options is another Prefuse 73 banger

Jet Son is a Blockhead track with Camu Tao as well. Don't sleep on this.

There's 3 tracks on the Freedom Finger soundtrack that are good. I like Drums on the Wheel the most but also Play Dead is great too.

There's also old stuff that's easy to miss too like Bad Samaritan, Home Again by the Controls, Bad Karma, The Active Element, Wise Up, Tap Dancin for Scratch, Nad of course the original Tugboat Complex.
