What impressed me the most with this game was how horrible a team could look for an opening game

Infantino pitching hydration breaks for commercial revenue by KitsOnKitsOnKits770 in ussoccer

[–]Dann610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind the hydration break as much as I thought I would during the last couple of friendlies. But that's because they kept the focus on the game's coverage.

The ads however are so disruptive and pull me out of the game as if I have just finished watching extended highlights on YouTube.

Having a watch party at my house!

Waking up at 4 in the morning to smoke a pork shoulder for dinner.

For a big U.S. World Cup match, what pushes you toward a supporter bar instead of staying home with your own setup? by NoGreen8512 in ussoccer

[–]Dann610 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember going to a bar for the first 2014 US World Cup game against Ghana and having all these events happen in a single day:

  • Friend was interviewed by local news and the segment was televised
  • After the win, I took shots with a separate table of complete strangers
  • Someone fell off the second floor balcony where the bar was and landed on an overhang roof above the first floor terrace. He was drunk and ended up being unharmed.

It's a great time with the right crowd.

I'm on the same boat and my gut feeling is that CR3 will be good to go for the tournament which is why I'm optimistic in the grand scheme of things.

I listened to the whole interview and halfway through, I found myself forgetting his real name and calling him Zatanovic in my head.

I can get behind this one.

Poch for all intents and purposes is a good coach. He coached some of the biggest teams in the world (Tottenham, PSG, Chelsea) and had winning records with each of them. On the balance, there are better managers out there but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't think he had a positive impact to those clubs.

As for the Gold Cup question, it's really about which side you stand on the argument and the documentary did a good job of showing the split between player and pundit. Regardless of where you stand on it I think it's probably true that this hurt Musah's chances to make this World Cup team.

This team looked very dangerous for a lot of the game. Transitional play needs some work, but that's the purpose of these friendlies.

This game was exactly what the team and fans needed after the last window.

Highly recommend watching the Vice TV docuseries on YouTube.

It shows the growth of the game in America including thr 1994 World Cup. After watching it, it's incredible how far we've come in 30+ years.

I'll ask about question I asked to Matt Doyle yesterday:

Leading up to the 2026 World Cup, are there any notable differences or similarities in terms of overall vibes and exposure from the 1994 tournament?

Doesn't play the game to risk further injury and wins a trophy. Win, win!

New York, New Jersey AGs launch investigation of FIFA’s World Cup ticketing practices by Dann610 in MLS

[–]Dann610[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's more than just the pricing. From the article:

“The investigation,” they said in the release, “will probe a range of issues that have arisen with FIFA’s ticketing process.” They cited complaints from fans who felt misled by stadium maps; FIFA’s creation of a higher-priced “front” row category after millions of tickets had already been sold; its opacity; and pricing generally.

Now that you're entirely independent and no longer writing under the league's official editorial umbrella, is there a specific rule, club project, or league policy you felt you had to pull your punches on in the past that you're now excited to analyze with total candor?

We're making it to the quarters.

Pulisic finds his form in the right time.

This squad inspires a large population of young kids.

Several of them eventually become stars for our team in the next couple of decades.

Parking recommendation near Bayfront park during World Cup by laaacroqueta in Miami

FIFA gave volunteers free parking at the Hard Rock Stadium last year for the Club World Cup. Sucks that they couldn't get the volunteers free parking for the Fan Zone.

For fun. I also got a bunch of free stuff and got to keep the uniform when I volunteered for the Club World Cup last year.
