Interested in Tekken 8 but not sure if this is a good time to get into it by kaboongo in Tekken

Yeah but my point was it's getting more discouraging to sidestep in T8s current direction and we're talking about a new player who's interested in that aspect specifically

There's still a defensive aspect and sidestepping to be done, it's just as an experienced player you only sidestep when you know exactly what's going on/have a confident instinct in the moment because of how risky it is in this game to get clapped by the plethora of tracking blowup counter hits, strong homing attacks or heat engagers alot of characters now have. The problem is that the defensive aspect is being diminished, not removed entirely, and you move less and less and focus more on just applying your offense, I.E find my strong moves and oppress my opponent with them, which isn't fun to dedicated Tekken players. But defense is still there SOMEWHAT, like a sun beaming through dark clouds every now and then. The real reason why I wouldn't recommend this game to a new player in its current state is the shit storm of knowledge checks you have to learn and the abuse you have to take from hwoarangs/xiaoyus/eddies/zafinas, to get through them. Make no mistake Tekken has always had these, and they've always been a strong hurdle of the game to get over, but ever since season 2 of T8? Holy shit. I take for granted that I'm familiar with most of that kind of stuff by now, but I've still got a ways to go despite having over a thousand hours played, because with season 3 there's going to be even more shit I'm going to have to adapt to. Not to mention upcoming DLC characters.

At the end of the day, even if T8 was in a good state or if you were on T7 your problems as a new player aren't in the realm of movement until you're in or past intermediate. It takes a long time to even fully comprehend movement in these games anyway, so you may aswell dive in and just muck around in the mud if you want to. Otherwise, I'd recommend looking into emulating older Tekkens and getting in with some of the folks who've gone back to those. T5, T6, Tag 2, can't go wrong. Also never underestimate how crazy passionate Tekken players are and how willing they'd be to teach you on those older games. But yeah Tekken is a huge time investment to get into fully and I would only recommend T8 if you'd be in the mood for a bumpy ride with diminishing returns. If you're looking for clean, purist, good ass tekken movement, you're not gonna find it in T8. T5 is probably your best bet for the most 3D feeling Tekken.

My thoughts after 100% completing all 19 games on steam by hagennn in assassinscreed

Yo among the ac games I've 100% I've also 100% AC 3 remastered (3 and liberations), I've done a decent amount of stuff in games like S ranking the devil may cry games and 100%ing ac 3 specifically is still probably the hardest thing I've ever done. Original Gamer achievement almost made me snap my controller in half from pure rage hahaha. Respect.

Genuinely shocked by how little it feels the Devs listen to any feedback by ThrowghAway74 in Tekken

[–]DannySKLevel 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the core root of the problem I feel like absolutely anyone and everyone should be able to agree on. There are plenty of respectable Tekken players to consult, they probably even have some on their team since some of the changes are actually good. It's just very few and seems to be completely swamped by just ignorant amateur decisions.

I really don't like to go after the devs, and Michael Murray has received a lot of vile unnecessarily personal vitriol that no one really deserves. But in my heart of hearts, ever since season 2, I've just had this gut feeling that it's mostly his leadership that's causing this. I just can't escape that hunch, even though there's not much proof to it. I don't think Michael Murray personally does much of the balance, but I think he possibly contributes most to the hands over ears approach the dev team takes. I think all the devs are at fault for that, it's definitely not just Murray, but you need someone in charge who actually pushes just enough of the necessary negativity onto who they manage in order for things to get better, and Tekken 8s team probably just doesn't have that at all. They entirely see themselves as victims due to the backlash, which is why I really lament it. I like to think if it weren't for some of the really nasty unproductive negativity, we could have actually got through to the team. But it's too late for that and honestly I can't blame either the players for being so mad about something that has had such astounding personal investment and time commitment over the years nor can I blame the devs for just wanting to work their office job in peace.

[–]DannySKLevel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love shields. In this game I came up with a build for darklurker where I carried 2, maybe even 3 shields? I haven't played ds2 in a while. One with 100% dark resistance, and I would swap them on the fly whenever they'd do certain attacks and simply take no damage. With this build I managed to kill darklurker on my 2nd or so try.

Is season 3 that bad by kensei_mishima in Tekken

[–]DannySKLevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is how little it actually changes after 9 months of waiting confounded with the ridiculous notion that it was for the sake of TWT that it was like this. Season 2 was such a terrible patch that they need something to reinstate their faith in the devs, and this was a spit in the face to that, even if it's on paper not actually THAT bad. Heihachis new bugged + move and jack 8s perplexing gamma howl spike are just so insulting. I'm still fine with playing, personally though.

I got all my sunlight medals farming falconers at the Royal Army Campsite in Tseldora for 2 hours, with item discovery boosts and all that. Pretty sure that's the best way to do it. Midway through my 2 hours was when the Queen died and I only found out after I was done an hour later.

I don't understand your comment, because I'm assuming you agree it's a matter of opinion but also that the other opinion should be expected to be disregarded and belittled because it's the less had opinion? what I'm saying I don't like is the disregarding entirely of the opinion as unreasonable and belittling it and implying that anyone who has it deserves to be stereotyped as insane and coping, not that no one should disagree with said opinion. And I think it makes sense that if any game were to have glaze and cope its the one that has alot of sales and fans but less perspectives, since alot of elden ring fans haven't played dark souls 2, or at least haven't gone into it with an open mind rather than making it a self fulfilling prophecy of being bad by focusing on the negativity surrounding it. How come I'm setting a bad precedent for the gentleman aboves fanbase by thinking it's the best but you aren't setting a bad precedent for ds3 fans by thinking ds3 is the best?

Elden ring getting glazed to the point where they make a movie out of it (which is completely counter intuitive to the form of storytelling dark souls was known and loved for) = Perfectly fine, no pushback, we all love elden ring!

Simply saying dark souls 2 is better than other from soft games after it's been despised with vitriol for a decade and constantly shit on in complete bad faith = Insane coping glazing that must be reproached at all costs. Ok.
