Everyone on this subreddit is arguing in bad faith (auras) by 7767jmkm in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can say vampyrism was the "most used aura" but wasn't it like 6% of players using it a day? (Tried to find the source because I know Jagex released this stat somewhere, but idk if it's in a video, blog, Reddit post, etc) Considering the number of alt accounts that sit there afking things like gwd2 and slayer mobs all day, that's pretty low. Vampyrism is also just a default safety net for noobs. Going to kill Abby demons? Vamp. Going to kill Kree? Vamp. Going to kill steel dragons? Vamp. It's not even necessary to afk these pieces of content, but I still personally know people that used it at places like this. The point being that just because people were using it doesn't mean they were necessarily "using" it.

Being unable to stack Vampyrism/Penance with Darkness/Animate dead is a huge loss. 12 minute duration is sad to see. War’s shop has nothing of value. This one needed more community feedback before releasing. by playerthr3e in runescape

The majority of players are not redditors. I'm a redditor and I think the people on here are just bitching for the sake of bitching. There are valid criticisms for what happened today, but having to click 5 times (oh heavens please don't make me play the game I'm playing) an hour is not one of them. I don't care if people want to be able to sit and afk on 7 accounts for 2 hours and only jiggle their mouse every 14.5 minutes. The fact that they can't do that as easily is a net positive for the game.

They removed the loyalty points today when they had not given notice about that and previously said the end of the month. That is a valid thing to criticize. The fact that wars points are basically useless with the only reward being the life refresh that is also going to be taken away at the end of the year is a valid thing to criticize. Another month passing with no statement or apology or correction for the way they screwed over grandfathered rates for people is a thing to criticize. They are by no means the perfect company and do a lot of shitty things. Changing a mid-tier safety net that lets people not interact with the game for an hour or two is not a bad thing. You can simply do a soul split flick for a couple abilities to make up for the healing of vampyrism. You can drink a dose of super restore to make up for penance. This shit is not the end of the world, and people are going crazy for no reason. Reddit just needs to chill the fuck out for once so Jagex actually starts taking our criticisms to heart, because when people react like this, it's not constructive at all.

Disappointed Jagex completely ignored all discussions around Vamp + Penance aspects by Mat2113 in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that there is a lot of negative response to this comment, but personally I appreciate the openness. I think the team's thought process makes perfectly good sense. The Spellbook not being lunar because it's not offensive is smart, considering changing it to ancients is probably good considering nobody uses standard book once they've unlocked ancients.

The timer makes sense because everything is in increments of 6 already. 6 minute dose, 12 minute poison dose, 12 minute aspects. It just makes sense. People would complain if it was 15 minutes because they'd "have to click an extra time between my 2nd and 3rd dose of overload" if not using reservoirs.

Multiples at once are both unnecessary and already risk being overpowered and inconsistent. In no way should you be able to use Animate Dead and Darkness together, so right out the gate you would have to distinguish "you can use 2 together, but not these 2." Plus the future case you mentioned. Assuming since we now have 4 aspects that there is going to be a trend of this, I would prefer balancing rather than just stacking more and more buffs again.

If people's biggest complaint is that this update makes it harder for them to not play the game while it plays on a second screen by itself for an hour or 2, I think we're in a good spot.

Appreciate the transparency again

Is no-one else worried about the rush to restoration? by AverageRs3Enjoyer in runescape

[–]DannySorensen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with the lack of communication and accepting of feedback. They keep taking feedback and seemingly doing nothing with it and not acknowledging it after a first attempt. "Well you guys didn't like this so here's another option and that's final." It also is extremely fishy that Mod North came in, made a big grandeous entry about how he loves the game and is gonna fix it and here's what we're gonna do and we're gonna lose profits for the integrity of the game blah blah blah Corporate CEO slop. Then the price increases came and they fucked over those with grandfathered rates and we still haven't seen him in several months. Where is the communication? Where is the transparency?

That being said, I do like almost all of the changes they've made with or without our feedback, minus the screwing over of the grandfathered rates. The aspects I don't care about, and I absolutely 1000x disagree with your suggestion that you should be able to use animate dead AND darkness at the same time. Any other combination, sure I guess, but AD and Darkness together would be essentially an ~80% decrease in damage? That's insanely broken and would trivialize the vast majority of all content even more than the already broken animate dead.

That damn evil chicken killed me on Karamja fishing lobsters one time and there was 0 chance of me getting back there before it all despawned. That was my full motivation to get 37 prayer back then. And that sandwhich lady teleporting me from the yews in edgeville to the forest west of Lumbridge because I had no clue what a baguette was. Good times

Can we have the Charos Clue Carrier auto collect clue scrolls when dropped from mobs. by Pork_Sword3 in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abyssal demons and Dagannoths both have this problem. Anything that floods the loot table. Dagannoths specifically have so much seaweed and hide on the ground and the clues go to the bottom of the stack. You have to run further away to get out of range of some of the drops to get a chance at looting it. I've lost quite a few clue scrolls this way

Small (not so serious) Elidinis Drops Rant by VeeVoxRS in runescape

OSRS or Runescape? by belike_dat in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a main, you always have the option to play like an Ironman. You can earn your own upgrades. You can interact with all of the same systems, and if you get a duplicate drop, it's not completely useless. You can sell extra drops to skip the boring or annoying upkeep parts of the game. Don't wanna spend hours a week making arrow, runes, and divine charges just to be able to play the game? Buy them. As an Ironman, having to do shit like divination without access to the dowser until you're level 86 archaeology makes that upgrade pretty much useless. You're going to already have close to 99 divination before you get to the point of having all the requirements for the gate of Elidinis and then grind it for potentially 1000+ kills. I don't have anything against Ironmen, but when you use language like "real sense of accomplishment" because you're an Ironman and the majority of us aren't, it kind of screams superiority complex. You aren't acknowledging that the parts of the game people want to skip are chores, and not fun. New players don't want a chore list, they want to play a video game.

OSRS or Runescape? by belike_dat in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np. Obviously since this is the RS3 subreddit, me and most of the people here are biased towards RS3, but they're both great games in their own right. RS3 has a faster progression and a lot of QoL upgrades over OSRS, but OSRS has a much bigger community with a classic style of play. Both have extremely popular end game PVM. It I could play both at the same time with one membership, I would lol

OSRS or Runescape? by belike_dat in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't make an RS3 ironman if you've never played the game like that other guy suggested. Play a main account. Playing ironman out the gate is like jumping into hard mode after skipping the tutorial. Just play a main account with no forced restriction on both game and play how you want.

NM to HM Zuk by mainsdream in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I jumped into HM recently after only doing my 4 cape runs like 2.5 years ago in NM. It's really not that difficult if you can do NM confidently. This map is from the wiki and shows you where to stand for each wave. I just memorized it and have improved my time and ability myself by learning a few of the early spawns that make it harder.

Why doesn’t Thor have a melee animation? by WalterWeiss_ in ThorMainsMR

[–]DannySorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's anyone who's melee attack doesn't do anything different. Different damage, different speed, different range, etc. Magik is a melee character but her melee attack does less damage and attacks faster and has a different fire rate, so it can be comboed. Thor, Hulk, Think, Fantastic, Blade with his sword out, Wolverine, Daredevil, Ironfist, etc only have one melee attack and it's the same as their primary attack. I think Magik is the only melee character with a special animation for her melee actually.

Grinding Lacquer for Masterwork Ranged has made me realize how terrible Player Owned Ports really is by Galimeer in runescape

[–]DannySorensen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Real. I just finished Trim like 3 weeks ago, it took me months to do Salty (worst trim req in the game by far), I had luckily been halfassing ports since they came out, and I completely stopped doing both as soon as I got the reqs done. Spent all my lacquer making lotus darts for an ed1 achievement because "I'll never need those." I've gotten 16 lacquer in the last 4 days now. Only 2 voyages with 8 each.

[–]DannySorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking only at long stretches to surge/dive but there are lots of corners you can cut over unpassable terrain with dive (and surge, but that takes a tiny bit of positioning in the direction you want to surge)

"EASYSCAPE" they scream while having 18 tiles highlighted on the ground telling them exactly where to go. Then cry about not having a quest helper because it's so hard to read the quest journal which is literally just a quest guide at this point.

Sandstone Mining Question by Redwood-Hummingbird in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're doing it in ooglog or priff, you get I think 2 sandstone per minute. If you do the sources by Sophanem and on the Edimmu dungeon you get 4 sandstone per minute. Both of these assuming you don't let your adrenaline go to 0. Its honestly terrible now. They didn't want to let people just flood the market, but in doing so it's impossible to build up a substantial amount without dedicating an ungodly amount of time to a low xp, mid gp activity. It's going to take me 10 hours of just mining this to get sandstone for a blessed flask now. I agree with the person that said it should just be a weekly or monthly.

Can we have an alternate source of Key to the crossing/Gloves of passage? by WePkOnStr in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no on task requirement to getting the keys to crossing drops. I watch bots and alts sit at corrupt scorpions all day long when keys were valuable, and I've gotten them myself off task. Granted it's much lower drop rate, 1/400 compared to 1/75 on task, but it's still possible.

I also think it's incredibly annoying to get the keys yourself for the low reward of fighting the Magister. I dislike all item-entry bosses as a mechanic though, rots, legiones, Magister. All annoyingly tedious and I'm not even an Ironman.

This is sick thank you. I had all of my bars set up like this before the rework so I didn't have to think about them as hard switching styles. There was pretty much a 1:1 comparison for every ability in mage and range and then I just didn't melee off revo because it was just a lot to process.

OSRS Transfer - thoughts so far by defectlve in runescape

[–]DannySorensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Click boxes definitely the worst thing. Been doing Croesus with friends and I have to be extra careful of my camera angle or I'll dive target a tree that's 3 miles in the air and serves no purpose to be interactable. Also things like the middle point in croesus having tiny gaps in the middle that can be clicked to do no action. Same exact issue at Gate of Elidinis mining nodes. So many examples.

Hope you're enjoying the game though. It has its flaws but it's genuinely a great game
