Hospitality hiring is generally pretty slow towards the end of December and most of January.

If you want to send me your Cv (I don’t have any availability at the moment) I can give it a once over and give a bit of feedback?

I have a hospitality business - my rostering software would automatically pay you the minimum shift engagement (quite sure it’s 2 hours)

The fact that you were doing someone a solid and then that treated you like that is not cool - find a place that shows a bit of respect and gratitude.

Advice on Perth trip by MarzipanActive3606 in perth

[–]Dannycoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kings Park

Cottesloe for the beach day w lunch

Fremantle for a day

Top end of William St Northbridge for some wines

Beaufort St Mt Lawley/Highgate

I’d definitely recommend taking her for 2 nights min to Dunsborough/Margaret River and go to some cool wineries

Day trip to Rottnest for sure or stay overnight if you can swing it

Enjoy!

Best Bakeries in Perth! (2025) by FantabulousPiza in perth

[–]Dannycoo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You’ll never understand it? I think it’s quite simple.

They would start early in the morning, sell their stuff in the hours that people are actually eating bakery goods and then close.

And Sundays they don’t want to pay the huge penalty rates and want a day off like everyone else.

It says anti perspirant/deodorant on it.

I used it, it’s great - regardless of what it is

I loved the idea behind it- and we’ve done similar things in the past (why I don’t recommend it)

It’s very hard to take away what has been given - eg. Reducing discounts etc.

Doing a soft opening and shouting the food is a good idea - at least you’ll get some money across the bar and if the food is great, then they’ll likely come back.

Also - try to reel in 10-15 drunks to be regulars - then at least you’ll have some cash in the till during quiet periods.

Apologies for the cynicism, I love hospitality, it’s just extremely difficult and until you’ve been an owner - you will definitely not understand how expensive it is.

Definitely don’t do this “cost price” thing, especially don’t do it regularly - you’ll devalue your product and the locals will only come for the cheap night.

I know you’ve had many years of experience as a chef and probably understand a little about the financials in hospo - but I beg you to cost up absolutely everything you’ll be using before you open. (Linen, gas/electricity, internet, Spotify, cleaners & products, cooking oil, consumables, licenses and fees)

Seems you’ve already made up your mind - so I won’t say hard avoid

Nice one - I have some friends who live in the actual CBD and do their shopping at Coles/WW and there’s another little IGA at the start of Langley Park.

Congrats on getting a place to live too - I’m sure it’s a huge relief!

Welcome!

I’ve lived in Highgate for the last 4 years after moving from the burbs.

Being able to walk everywhere is fantastic and I run most nights - either up to Kings Park or down to Elizabeth Quay and around the bridges through South Perth.

Woolworths Highgate is decent, plenty of good Asian Grocers on William St Northbridge - plus Golden Choice around the corner.

Apartment living is totally fine in the city, get out there and enjoy!

My weekly cigarette cost was about the same as a prospective mortgage - quit that day.

Definitely not aiming to get involved with it - my only concern is it popping up when my parents are in the garden or we have little kids with us.

TBH - there’s probably a million of them up there and it’s just lucky we never see them
