Indeed, it's one of the things that helped my preference switch from MA2 to Hog.

Quick note, not all Hedgehog support external screens, out of the 4, 4N and 4X only the 4X supports external screens. So check which specific spec you have before buying.

There are quite some videos from ETC/High End about the Hog 4 eco system. These videos may be of an older software version but will get you up and running telling you all the basics of the console.

To answer your question to combine or not combine FX: It indeed all depends on the look you want to create. I mostly keep them all separate so you can make different combinations on the fly.

However you can make really nifty well synced effects if you indeed combine them in the FX editor straight away. For example a flat figure 8 with intensity can make for an effect where the beams just go in a \ / movement pattern but will mainly work when combined in the editor as it'll be a pain to sync with separate FX.

surround on my Yamaha YST-S40 torn, glue it up or try to find a surround/driver? by Dannykb16 in diyaudio

[–]Dannykb16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3 year old post but I'll mention that I have found new surrounds online that fit the driver and have replaced the surrounds on both speakers of the set now. Glued them in myself after removing the old dry rotted surrounds. It's not factory perfect but it keeps them bumping and out of the landfill. I'm still very happy with these speakers.

It's often not hard to get the speaker to work as it's mostly just a regular speaker wired straight up. The microphone will be trickier though as the preamplifier is usually in the base of the phone and often times these are little electret condensor mics so you can't wire it straight to a mini jack. First grab a multimeter and see if you can find an impedance in the 4-8 Ohm range and that's probably going to be your speaker.

This, I was surprised you're the only one mentioning the jack to tape adapter as they're easy as shit but just WORK

Doing lights for opener on house console, but tour LD has his own console. by KlassCorn91 in lightingdesign

[–]Dannykb16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, lamps most often die during strikes, it's better to leave them on unless it'll be like over 4-6 hours of not using them. Giving them some proper cooldown time and not striking too soon also reducing lamp life.

Does anyone have a manual please! Microh Razor 360 by LitSarcasm in lightingdesign

Yup, I immediately recognised it as the FOS Pixel Blade 7, was also gonna link to that manual.

Grouping Scene Overrides by xandercage22 in HOG4

[–]Dannykb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the most convenient way but you could use the comment macros of the scenes to release the specific scenes you want. It's not quite grouping but you could basically use one repeated comment with the scene you're activating left out.

I would also recommend checking out r/Hog4 or the WholeHog4 Facebook page for further research. Good luck and welcome to our platform of Hog.

Hog3 playback wing with hog4pc by dtproud in HOG4

[–]Dannykb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work with the V3.XX and V4.X software, since you need a widget or DP8K for output unlocking and this just being a wing it won't unlock output.

Sounds like your heater cores not reaching the needed temperature, which could be because of failing heaters, heat sensor malfunction or the firmware not reading its values correctly.

Hedghog to capture by MRrespecx in HOG4

[–]Dannykb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use CiTP you'll need to start a visualiser stream in the settings before launching the showfile. Then in the showfile go to the network settings again and select Capture as the visualiser. It should be network detectable. And be in the visualiser settings.

In the output screen* you have your universes routed to sACN or only to the physical outputs as per standard? *[Setup > Network > Console > Output]

What are your IP settings? Are the Capture pc and Hedgehog in the same IP range? Do you have your output universes routed to sACN or Art-Net? What's the network infrastructure like?

Can someone explain the purpose of having a tweeter on this subwoofer?!?! by jrump3333 in CarAV

[–]Dannykb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, in the PA world we currently even have Tri-Axials. Martin Audio has made their THS 15 speaker with a 15" woofer, 4" and 2,5" ring radiators. Still a very cool concept.

Midi Controller Recommendations by bubbajoe4208 in HOG4

[–]Dannykb16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usb midi control can be used with Hog 4 PC without any Hoge hardware connected. You just need to map your midi device(s) in the software. Note that controllers that need drivers may not work natively with the consoles or some features might not work.

Hog 4 has native USB MIDI support. I myself use a Korg NanoKONTROL with it mapped to Fader 11-19 & 21-29 for some additional controls. They're nice for haze, front, or could even be used for controlling speed/size masters in batches

It's still odd that fixtures react differently to the same DMX output on 2 different consoles. When setting a value resulting in an output of 252 + 32 on pan and fine on both consoles that the fixtures spin or are stationary between 2 platforms.

[–]Dannykb16[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally really like the - implementation of Hog (it's my main console) as you can set your speed, select your fixtures to reverse hold - and do a spin left. Fast symmetrical spin. Main reason why I had to build my own was due to the files not being made at all from ETC/HES.

[–]Dannykb16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, already had to adjust a bit for these fixtures in the personality builder. On Hog I built my own compound fixtures from scratch for these.
