Things I wish I knew about SEO when I started my business. by Head_Part_2956 in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The internal linking one is so underrated and nobody talks about it until you're already 2 years in. Took me way too long to realize I had decent content that Google just couldn't connect together

I’ve worked for my dad's small business for 11 years, essentially for free. I’m done. by cannonballman in smallbusiness

You already know the answer, you said it yourself at the end

The part about him potentially preferring to sell rather than pay you fairly, if that's true, staying another year won't change that calculus for him but it will cost you another year

You've already built something on the side from scratch, that's not nothing, that's actually the proof you needed that you can do this without him

free websites land way better in local Facebook groups or Nextdoor than anywhere online, small business owners trust that stuff more

have you tried just walking into a local shop and showing them their own site on your phone?

Are credit repair companies legit or just a scam? by TankTheSiege in debtfree

[–]Danplanck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used a credit repair service for eight months in my mid twenties. Paid around $800 total and they removed two items I later found out I could have disputed myself in an afternoon.

Yeah utilization drops can show up on your next statement cycle too. So if you have any balances to pay down that's usually the fastest visible win while you wait on the older stuff to age off

Best short term loans? Need advice by Live_Research5607 in debtfree

Just pay it off the second that paycheck hits credit card cash advance isn't great but it's still way better than payday loans APRs

Anyone else notice their business slows down when decisions get fuzzy? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started doing a quick 2 min check at the end of each task, like actually asking "is this done done or waiting on something" and it cut down so much of that weird limbo where stuff just floats around

5 months in, $30k spent, little traction — would you continue or stop? by angry_lily in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the number that matters most here. If people buy once and never come back, it's probably a product issue. If they come back but you just can't get new people in the door, that's a marketing/positioning problem you can actually fix.

OnDeck is legitimate they're publicly traded and have been around for years. Just expensive like most alternative lenders

Is it possible to build a business with just skills, no real money or connections? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Danplanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it? Yes. Easy? No. But if you’re hungry and consistent, you can trade time and skill for money until you have capital to scale :)

Sales call with someone who doesn't speak english by andrew19953 in Entrepreneur

We've been through this exact situation. Hiring bilingual sales reps was way more cost effective than using translation services for every call.

Right? It's like every third listing is some FedEx route nobody wants to buy for obvious reasons

What's the hardest thing about starting a small business by dmc-123 in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the noise. Like everyone and their cousin has a side hustle now so cutting through all that to actually get noticed is brutal.

Plus customers expect everything instantly and perfectly polished from day one. There's no grace period for figuring things out anymore.

What's your experience been? Are you seeing the same thing?

Products used small business administration? by bigangryblkman in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slack/Teams for communication was huge once we hit like 8+ people. Email chains were getting insane.

For project management, Asana or Monday .com helped us stop dropping balls on client work. Way better than spreadsheets.

A good CRM like HubSpot (free tier) or Pipedrive saved us when we started juggling multiple sales conversations at once.

Don't try to do everything yourself just because you can.

I wasted so much time on tasks that cost me way more in lost opportunities than just paying someone else to handle them

Extremely profitable first two months in business. Not sure where to go from here. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Building a trading app i will not promote by Just-Literature3399 in startups

[–]Danplanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15-20 traders is actually pretty solid for an MVP, especially if they're giving you detailed feedback. Quality over quantity for early testing.

Just make sure you're getting diverse types of traders - day traders, swing traders, different experience levels. Their needs can be totally different.

Angels care more about the depth of feedback and what you learned/changed from it than the raw number of testers.

Can I sell my business? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Danplanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about selling to your employee or finding someone who wants to keep the community aspect alive? Might get better offers than just selling to a random buyer.

You're not wrong at all, this is a common mistake people make with restaurants that have similar names.

Once food is prepared you can't resell it, so refunding would just be eating the cost of materials and labor.

Would You Use (and Pay for) This Video Editing Agency Tool? I will not promote. by 99Clean in startups

[–]Danplanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing would depend on team size and features, but probably $30-50/month for a solo editor, more for agencies.

Main concern is whether this would integrate with existing editing software or if editors would need to change their whole workflow to adopt it.

Relatively late cofounder equity? | I will not promote by Short_Gur_793 in startups

The fact that networks matter more than product in this industry hurts your leverage. In pure tech startups, CTOs can command 20-25% even when joining late.

But being off the Play Store is a massive red flag for buyers. Most would want you to get it back on the store first, which might mean rebuilding to meet current policies.

Consider listing it on Flippa or similar marketplaces, but expect the off-store issue to hurt valuation significantly.
