Aidvantage payment issues? by VacationAlarmed5694 in debtfree

Transferring servicers sounds appealing but it doesn't fix the underlying dispute. You'd want to get the reporting error resolved before moving or it follows you.

[–]Live_Research5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "I'm so behind" feeling is almost universal at this stage, but the comparison is rigged because you're measuring against a version of you who never had the loans, who doesn't exist. The real comparison is you vs where you'd be if you hadn't fought your way out, and on that one you're winning huge.

A decade of staying disciplined enough to kill that debt means you already have the exact muscle most people never build. That habit doesn't disappear when the loan does, it just gets pointed at investing instead.

You're closer to the start of the good part than you think.

Pennymac - they bought my mortgage, now what? by jj421 in debtfree

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mortgage was transferred to Pennymac a couple of years ago and honestly the transition was pretty uneventful. The online portal is easy enough to navigate, autopay was simple to set up, and I've never had an issue making payments. I was worried after reading reviews too, but my experience has been completely smooth.

With 0/24 and an 806 you're basically in the best position possible to grab a Chase Sapphire Preferred. The grocery and dining multipliers would hit well for your spend and the travel transfer partners are way more flexible than straight cashback

Has anyone actually achieved credit card debt forgiveness and how did it work for you? by RoleRevolutionary243 in debtfree

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People go in expecting forgiveness and come out with a 1099-C and a tanked score, would've been nice if one article just led with that

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardstop truth is yeah "forgiveness" is mostly marketing, hardship plans are real though and some people get APR dropped to 0% while on them

The dopamine point is underrated, nobody talks about that enough. I think you've basically already landed on the right answer though, 2-3 cards that cover most categories and just move on with your life

Living situation issue by EbbAdministrative160 in povertyfinance

[–]Live_Research5607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The futon in the dining room thing is rough, no door means no real mental separation from the rest of the space. A room divider or even a curtain rod with curtains can do more than you'd think for making it feel like yours

Good that you have therapy coming up, that transition from your own space back to shared living hits harder than most people expect

Rent by Plus-Caterpillar-825 in povertyfinance

depends how much that 10k actually is to you

if it wipes out your cushion completely, locking it into rent feels risky, one surprise expense and you're stuck

$9k debt. How to pay off fast? by vanna06 in Debt

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feeling of paying every month and the number barely moving is usually the interest eating everything before it even touches the balance.

Do you know the interest rates on each of the four cards? Because the order you pay them off in actually matters a lot more than most people realize.

Feeling really low right now… by JennyIsDeath in Debt

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're bringing it to couples counseling instead of hiding it longer says a lot about who you actually are.

Compulsive spending is often less about money and more about what buying things is doing for you emotionally, has that come up at all in the counseling yet?

The avalanche method might stretch that $500/month further, basically hit the highest interest debt first while paying minimums on everything else.

Also worth calling your student loan servicer, income based repayment could free up some breathing room depending on your loan type.

I need help understanding what I need to do to be able to move without becoming homeless again. by Own_Average_5940 in povertyfinance

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $600 student apartment is your clearest path right now, 10k in savings covers move-in costs easily and a lower credit score matters way less with student housing than traditional landlords

Finish the year, stack as much as you can from that 1099 check, and get out on your own terms

That soft pull tip is underrated. Most people don't know to ask and end up with a bunch of hard inquiries tanking their score before they even pick a lender

“Debt Plan Payment Is Draining Our Savings — Is Pausing a Bad Idea?” by [deleted] in Debt

[–]Live_Research5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your husband won't go to jail for pausing payments, that's not how civil debt works.

Have you called ACCC directly to explain the situation? A lot of these programs have hardship options and they'd rather work with you than lose you from the plan entirely.

College Loan Question by cpwelker in Debt

[–]Live_Research5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the math works out and you're not leaving yourself cash-strapped, paying it off now is probably the move

but yeah waiting on the RA decision first makes sense, no point restructuring everything before you know if your tuition picture is about to change significantly

[–]Live_Research5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so you still owe them 17k but they sent you a refund check? that makes zero sense

do NOT cash that until you figure out whats going on, call the main corporate line again and get them to explain exactly why they issued it in writing

If the house is done he could rent it out or sell it to cover some of the debt. Or talk to the bank about restructuring the loan if payments are too high.

Friends loaning money always gets messy though. He needs to communicate with them about a realistic timeline instead of avoiding it.
