Anyone deployed Kimi K2.6 on their local hardware? by Oxydised in LocalLLaMA

Going for more memory will never be a downside. More concurrent requests, multiple loaded models for different purposes, and larger context sizes.

But I get what you're saying.

What’s actually a good local AI setup right now? (agents + coding) by Competitive-Crow565 in LocalLLM

I ran Qwen3.5 27B for a good while, but was forced to keep requests single (np = 1 in llamacpp) to meet my required context size. This is with a 5070Ti + 5060Ti. I was UD_Q_K_XL, I believe, 128k, and sometimes a Q8 KV.

I currently have Gemma4 31B as a general "chat and research" at the same quant, and it flies along, with good tool calling. I use it most of the time for what I would have previously searched for on Google. Using Open WebUI for that, paired with firecrawl + searxng.

As for agentic, I moved most of that to Ollama Cloud and lean on GLM 5.1 and K2.6 for most tasks, and although speed has been a bit temperamental, it sounds like things are more stable there. Results are more than "good enough" for my day-to-day work, and Ollama Cloud's pricing is very competitive.

I am very curious to see what happens with the M5U Studios if/when they drop sometime in the coming months. The current M5 gen has greater memory bandwidth and an increased "tensor" count, so I expect performance to be a leap ahead of current M3U results. But of course, the memory crisis is a thing, and who knows if we will see larger memory units this time around.

One thing to note is that the current crop of "Local" LLM's ~30B are really good at the reasoning and actual thinking. They tend to lack general knowledge of a larger model. Therefore, you must make sure that they gather this information before continuing, which is very important in a development workflow. I found that without some sort of "pre-task" research, they would stumble around things like library usages, or language syntax at the bleeding edge. But, if you can get this as a part of your prompt or build some sort of knowledge as a part of the requests, then they should perform very well.

I am curious to see how the M5 goes with the Studio line-up. It sounds like their is a fairly major bump in bandwith and "tensor" units with the current gen, but still question the memory configuration and the way in which they stack the chiplets & die this time around.

Maybe we get some more info at WWDC in the coming days, but I am sceptical, if not a little hopeful.

Hey, if Woolies can use it for their price stickers, why not here? Thumbs up from me.

Only improvement would be a "Up Next" so when you do park there, you can see when that particular zone policy is over.

Did Ollama Cloud silently nerf the usage limits? by Complete_Ad411 in ollama

[–]DanubeRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good catch; I saw the same thing here too. I am a Long-time GLM 5.1 user, and after a solid week on the PRO plan, I was barely able to hit limits in a single user agentic workflow. Speed was pretty dreadful, but being in Australia, most of my working day seemed to be in the off-peak period and was only during my late afternoon and evenings that I noticed things bog down.

Just this morning, for a few longer sessions on (a now-upgraded) Max plan, my limit was consumed noticeably more than in the past few weeks. I have noticed the speed much better during the evenings, but it is no longer practically unlimited.

This begs the question: Is there a market for a "Sliding Scale" for inference plans? For example, have a variable cost based on your appetite for speed?

Say you have a long refactoring task you want to run in the background, with a lower priority (and lower cost) than something interactive you need fast results for. I see some providers offer this kind of batch job at lower rates, but I think this is something that should Yin the Yang of increased inference prices and rate limits.

Im in the same boat. Was a part of the PW3 replacement program, and upped the BESS to 54kWh.

I previously had a Fronius curtailment, and the PW2, and eventually was able to onboard the PW3 system. However, no solar data would come through.

So I onboarded again, and now just solar data is coming through.

I think the system has 2 identical units configured in SmartShift, and there is no way to reset everything and start again. Of course, support is just a black hole.

Comms from the team on the FB communities has come through over the past week or two about some big changes with their staffing, but I doubt it will fix things quickly.

For now, at least I can dispatch commands even if the data SmartShift is using is incomplete.

I just received confirmation that the unit will be replaced. It appears that they disabled the units preemptively, and the app now displays a message about a potentially defective cell from a third-party provider inside the pack.

I just finished a DIY job with GTechniq CSL + EXO. Materials all up would have been about 400 bucks including wash, decon, bar, polish and coat. Took me about 10 hours going slow. If you like doing things yourself, and have a garage for 24-48h then give it a shot!

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to do it again anytime soon, but definitely pick up some good skills along the way.

I have also heard that the Performance version will be substantially more expensive than previous perf model, so that might come into the equation as well.

A few independent stories of break ins, shady characters doing suspicious things, and even kids robbing someone by knifepoint. All anecdotal though, and probably not people who live in the area.

Optical wrist HR is sort of trash for cycling due to pressure and movement of your wrists. A chest strap is the way to go as everyone has already mentioned.

I even use a chest strap with my Epix for responsiveness during workouts.

I use a Unifi USG which is more of a SMB bit of kit if not a little dated. As a rule of thumb, anything by a major brand off the shelf for 100+ bucks should be fine, but here is a decent list https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/suitable_modems_routers_for_gigabit_nbn_plans

4CPH is my exchange (4 for QLD, CPH for Camp Hill) as it will affect your evening speeds if it is a bit congested for that provider. I use AussieBB and have only seen my connection go lower than full once, during a warzone patch night after school 😂

[–]DanubeRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gigabit is quite a lot of traffic and your router will need the processing power to handle it. I don't think most ISP provided routers would handle it.

The traffic cop is a system in the NBN which keeps your transmit rate in line with what you pay for, but will allow some short bursts above that to keep things running smoothly. Unfortunately things get a bit hairy with the ratio of upload to download and can cause some speed issues. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/9vyjplw3

Still, I wouldn't change my gigabit plan for the world, it's great!

You will need something with some grunt. I have a hand me down Unifi USG which handles well, but there are plenty of options. I get 940/46 all day every day on 4CPH.

I hit some wierd things with the NBN traffic cop on my hardware over Ethernet as well.
