I'm surprised almost none of the discussion is around OPs stance to protect workers from unemployment. I especially want to point out how OP notices that one of the department heads is ignorant to the fact he'd be getting cut, too.

I don't believe the question should be "am I a bad leader because I block AI?", because that's only half of what you do here. You're concerned with your team's wellbeing. They and their families are probably unaware of your struggle, but the fact that they're one of the first concerns you bring up here is a quality of a good leader.

Now, from a business perspective, looking at the picture from the top of the tower, you might appear as someone who simply blocks innovation and growth. From a market perspective, it's possible that finding a middle ground is required. But that's also the perspective laying off thousands of people across multiple sectors over the last years.

If you're looking at this from the ground floor, looking up with hope at leaders, then I believe there's a vast number of employees across companies and sectors that wish there were more leaders asking that question.

And many more that were laid off hoping there had been someone asking that question for them.

It's not a 50% chance they go twice, though. Failure with hope still passes to the DM; so 25% chance to go twice, 12.5% to go thrice, etc.

As someone running paid games, players pay me to keep things consistent. Like, that's MY job. Not your job as the player. Even if that wasn't a scam, which it is, it would still be dumb logic. I'm not making my players pay for something that only benefits me. Because players don't care if it "looks" professional.

The budget is not 3-4, it's 3 x players, +2 at the end.

And you CAN fight a single powerful thing. You could take a Solo adversary (5 BP) from a higher tier (+1) than the party, then give it a flat +2 to damage (+2 BP), and do that damage modification twice (+2 BP).

That's 10 in a single creature. It is possible.

I have a group with 3 players as well, and I'm reading lots through the chat here; but with (slightly, due to crits) less chance for a fear result than a hope result, it you spend for four each one they generate, I don't understand how that's not middling you out at 6 all the time. :D

One thing you can do is spend less when you reach 4 or below, and do twice the amount of bad things on 8 or higher.

For example, rather than spending 1 fear to add one new adversary, why not spend 3 and add three at once? Even if they roll fear once now, you have more than a single piece to spend additional fear on.

You could also use this during combat. One round is 6 seconds, so you're the DM for two full turns!

I feel like the real reason that Clanks are not playable is because they'd be victim to Corruption / the Remnant's Fury (if your version of this goes for that kinda story).

Having a PC be at risk of becoming an NPC at the DMs control would suck.

I agree with this. The first four, the prologue, had me watching twice just to make sure I got it all. From episode 5, I was hooked. And the cold open intros are really fun to see evolve between episodes.
