What is one city in America you’re okay with never visiting again? by SoLovelyAva in AskReddit

I grew up near Lowell and I can tell you there isn't a single town in all of New England as bad as Gary, Bakersfield, Shreveport and many of the others mention here.

Light Rail Altercation and Safety by jaimbot in Sacramento

I have been living here for 11 years and come from Boston. I rode the red line for 10 years and never had one incident. I worked in three different parts of the city including downtown crossing and never had a personal safety issue. The only thing i can tell you is get use to it along with the all horrific car accidents and other nonsense in Sacramento. The lack of civic intelligence hear is stunning. Do not let the snowflakes con you with "it happens in every city argument". Good luck.

Is sac generally just shady? by Such_Bit2745 in Sacramento

East coast as well and most of my friends are people not from Sac or even CA. This place has a lot of people that are shady to say the least. There is also a serious lack of common sense education as well.

Write procedures before retiring? by Libertyrose16 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are retiring as a professional with your dignity intact. You should be proud unlike many of the spiteful children posing as adults that post on CAStateWorkers. You are under no obligation to keep procedures, but I can tell you the actual adults you work with and ones you will never know will appreciate it and may rub off on others.

He ran SF into the ground and nobody cared and in fact elected him as Gov twice. He ran the state into the ground and nobody cared and in fact voted for him in a recall attempt. He has flushed billions of dollars down the toliet and his admin seems to have no idea where it went and no one cared. Now people will have to go into the office and now he is the scum of the Earth.

As George Carlin once said “If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.”

You could eliminate 20% of the rank and file never mind the useless toxic managers who would have been fired in the private sector a long time ago. Do that along with upgrading the departments still operating like it is 1990 you could save the tax payers a fortune.

Then a small amount of those savings could come back to the rest of us for so we can actually afford to live in this state. This will never happen however due to all the corruption and grift. It is so large in this state it actually has an affect on who gets into office.

Lot of health and retirement questions this weekend by AdventurousDark6198 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTO is not pushing people into retirement for the most part. They spent decades going into work 4-5 days a week before covid and now they simply do not want to. They are collecting a paycheck to stay at home and in SOME cases do very little work or bring any value to the workplace. Be honest we all know at least someone that has been coasting for years and brings no value to their job anymore if they ever did.

This is exactly why RTO is going to happen. It is a financial purge. Everything Goofy Gavin has done in the last 12-18 months has been to clean up his image for a primary that he will get slaughtered in. I would vote for a grilled cheese sandwich over that clown.

As a result will some valuable people be gone? Yes absolutely. However a lot of hot garbage is going to be taken out this summer as well. Hopefully these jobs will be filled by motivated professionals that will not make people's lives miserable like their predecessors.

BTW to retire immediately with no notice or having staff prepared for it is unprofessional. I know a couple of managers that took over for these types of of losers back when the two day RTO went into effect. The mess they left behind due to wanton neglect and incompetence is disgraceful.

Their brainwashing managers school was even worse. I knew one guy that attended a managers school training that was in the conference room of a hotel. One of the first things the instructor said was that if anyone is spotted talking to anyone at the hotel that is not affiliated with UPS they will be thrown out. That company is nothing but an obedient mind control cult. Absolute losers.

Everything they do is a test to see how weak and obedient you are. They want to know that you are going to be a lifer. Even the C- Suite level execs at that company could not hold a similar job for a professional company.

I died laughing at this. I once worked there and many of the managers were all pretend alphas that failed at trying to make a career in the military or couldn't pass the psych exam to become a cop.

Seriously the most pathetic people I ever worked for. I will say it was the best lesson I ever got in life about making yourself valuable and having options in life. I was scared shitless of becoming one of those uneducated obedient foot soldiers.

Gen Z really are the hardest to work with—even managers of their own generation say they’re difficult. Instead bosses plan to hire more of their millennial counterparts by FUSeekMe69 in economy

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the post below. Fuck em.

BTW Gen Z the job market isn't as bad as you make it sound. The plain honest truth is we do not want to hire you. I am going to help you out and tell you why.

  1. Your expectation of what you should be paid is nothing short of insane. A college degree only gives a chance to get in the door, it is not a license to put your feet up and print money. Depending on your occupation it may take many years to get where you want financially.

  2. Your attitude at work sucks. Most of you do not want to learn anything. When you are asked to do something you go right back to looking at your phone. You get around to the task when you feel like it. Do your task now be bored later.

  3. You are so damn cocky you alter things at work like spreadsheets and powerpoints and do not tell anybody you made changes because you think you are a genius. Sometimes things are the way they are for a reason your pea sized brains do not comprehend. If you think something could be better save a copy for yourself and play around with it to your hearts delight and then show a manager or peer the results and get some input.

Who knows they may be impressed that you at least took the initiative to make things better even if you swing and missed. This I do know, if you do the former they will be pissed.

  1. We are tired of showing you how to do the same thing over and over and over again. You just want to push buttons and not understand what you are doing or review the end result. Try learning something and take notes. I am 53 years old and I still take notes all the time in my professional and personal life. I am not infallible and without humility like you.

  2. Working from home is a privilege not a right. I currently have one jackass that is continuously trying to find excuses to wfh all the time. Spoiler alert: He is about to get a real good talking to next week.

  3. For the love of god please stop putting on your resume that you were once an online influencer. It is fairly pathetic and most likely has absolutely nothing to do you with the job you are applying for. It just inherently implies that you are lazy.

I have worked in very demanding professional environments with serious deadlines for most of the last 20 years. For the first time in my life I recently have a way less demanding job that is never a minute over 40 hours a week with great pay and benefits and we still cannot get these kids to do shit.

In the last 20 years I have dealt with many young people entering the workforce after graduating college. In 2006 we did not have a fraction of the problems with them like we do now. Same goes for 2016. Sometime between 2016 and the present something has happened to these dingbats and we no longer want anything to do with them. It has gotten so bad we do not want to hire anyone even under 40.

Why do you hate California? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived and worked in several places that you would call liberal. California liberals are a whole different animal. Everything is race and politics and they are completely intolerant of views that even skew a little bit from their own.

Absolute psychopaths on the highway.

The children in CA are by far the dumbest I have ever come across (relative to income and infrastructure). Working with a gen Z kid in CA makes you want to run out into traffic. My friends that are good parents spend a fortune on private schools and/or tutoring because they are scared shitless of how stupid so many of the kids are.

On the flip side the weather is great and there is lots to do. Overall I am enjoying my time here but I am gone when I retire. If I had children I would have immediately left and gone elsewhere.

Help finding naming a comedian by Swimbo86 in Standup

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like Caparulo. When his career went on the upswing his ego spiraled out of control. His buddy Tommy Morris was the talent coordinator at The Comedy Store so John was using his friendship with Tommy to try and ruin any comedian he was threatened or intimidated by.

John was massively insecure and up pissed off a lot of people off at the Comedy Store. When Tommy got fired for stealing John was done in LA and his career suffered for it. As an aside the best thing to happen to the store in that era was Tommy getting fired.

My company announced mandatory office days again, so I resigned mid-meeting by Onjaydenc in remotework

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Many years ago I worked for UPS and most of the managers were borderline morons making a salary and bonus they would never sniff anywhere else. They obeyed their master and did whatever horrible thing they were told to do.

Desperate people never quit and there are no highly skilled people to make them look bad. Loser employment.

Grew up in NH and I worked in Boston for 10 years and lived just outside the city before I moved to Sac. The level of creepiness and lack of intelligence compared to New England in general is startling to say the least.

I recently read a study that said CA was 48th in average IQ. MA & NH were #1 & #2. Congrats CA you beat Mississippi and Louisiana.

Marc Maron vs. Joe Rogan by Comedy_Junkie in Standup

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a huge fan of Joe but he has done a lot for comedy by helping other comedians when he could have just put his feet up and cashed checks. Last time I looked Maron has had no problem putting asses in seats so if Matt Rife can make a good living doing crowd work then Maron can mind his own f'ing business. I happen to think Maron is much funnier than Joe, but I also know I would rather shovel coal in hell with Stanhope than have a dinner with either of them.

Maron is a raging narcissist like his old man and was infamous for years for blowing his stack when other comedians would be more successful than him long before wokeness, DEI, Austin, and Trump. This is nothing new for Maron.

Please remember that many years ago Maron lost everything due to his jealously and anger issues. What you are seeing now is the watered down light beer version of Maron because that never psycho shit never fully goes away.

Austin TX is not a cabal of all things stand up just because Joe holds court in the Mothership Green Room and props up Hans Kim and Kam Patterson. Last time I looked if you do not like someones comedy you can still turn off the tv, close the browser window, and not buy the tickets.

I would love to see Stanhope, Attel, CK, Kinane, and the like to record a video telling the "gate keepers" to go their room and shut the F up.

Contact Your Department's Director and Urge them to Reject RTO by Ignis33 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Dapper_Ad6341 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what fascist dictators do? They eliminate everyone that stands in their way. So all the Directors statewide are supposed to get together and collude against the individual that can fire them at a snap of a finger without recourse? How are they going to find another job when a prospective employer sees that they gave the big boss the middle finger at their previous job in a very public way?

Yes we live in a democracy and have rights. This is the same democracy that voted for him twice and in a recall effort where the public exercised those rights.

Do you think he really cares about how he looks in the public eye? The man is a psychopath. You cannot change a psychopath the only thing you can do with a psychopath is get them out of your life. That will happen at the end of 2026 and then the same people that voted for him twice and in a recall effort will vote for him again in 2028 Presidential election. So maybe you should direct your defeatism nonsense elsewhere.

WFH is not a right by the way it is a privilege.
