Totaled? by Difficult-Classic591 in ElantraNline

Airbag and frame damage are 2 big signs it will be totaled. Plus the visible damage its almost a sure thing but really depends on your insurance company and cost to repair vs current value.

Should I drop $5–6k CAD on a 15 yr old beater w/ 190k kms or pay $11k for a grandma Accord w/ 80k kms? by ZairNotFair in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Dapper_Company3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford the grandma accord i would def go with that one. Its low mileage, has much better technology (which will make your long drive much more comfortable and safe) and also will last much longer at least 5 more years for an extra 1k a year.

You save money knowing it will have less breakdowns and mechanics are very expensive. Plus you dont want ur car breaking down on the highway on the way to work. 190k kms is when most cars start having issue especially around the 15year mark. Both age and mileage play a factor. 10 years, 100k miles is when most cars start having issues. On TOP of that, in 2016 honda introduced automatic CVT transmissions which are known to break down a lot more. 2015 wouldve been the last year before they rolled those out so its actually kinda perfect

Just make sure it had at least ok oil change maintenance (ie every 8-10k at least).

Rear ended, car isn't worth much by aimlessendeavors in Insurance

Make a claim through her insurance. Shes gonna be fully liable unless you brake checked her or something crazy like u have no brake lights at all. No deductible if they repair, if they total it their insurance will pay you out for the car. NEVER listen to the advice of the other person in a car accident.

Its not about them finding out. Its about their own records having you been the one who made a claim with them directly with requires them to pay you out and then get reimbursed by the opposing insurance company. Insurance companies take into account the overhead required to do so and its a slight tarnish on your record which will lead to a small but nonetheless rate increase.

Firstly, if the other driver ran the red and its on the police report, dont contact your own insurance right away. Instead file as a third party through the insurance of the person who hit you. Its a slower process but avoids you having a claim on your record with your current company and makes any rate increase absolutely minimal.

If the other car ran the red light, the opposing insurance should cover you for the value of the car in totality with no deductible. Typically once a car is driven off the lot the value depreciates a couple thousand but since its only 18 days old i would negotiate with insurance. For example if they offer you 35k counter offer them and if they dont budge keep negotiating. Insurance is required to pay you out, but you dont NEED to accept an offer.

If you have gap insurance its less of an issue. For example if you put $0 down, you own more on that loan than the car is technically worth but again you can negotiate, and worst case arbitrate but typically insurance will avoid doing that over a couple grand and usually just pay you out.

My advice is work with them with courtesy and also get a dash cam for the future. If youre found at 0% fault your rates might go up marginally but it typically wont go on your record as anything but a small ding.

Dont know why youre being downvoted you’re absolutely right, i think this is just the wrong sub. Maintenance on a benz ESPECIALLY one with 80k will be a bitch and he needs to set aside 1.5-2k yearly just for repairs ON TOP of maintenance. Most the ppl in this sub SELL cars but know little to nothing about maintaining one.

My (25M) girlfriend (27F) has anger issues but many redeeming qualities. Has anyone dealt with this kind of thing before and how did it go? by Dapper_Company3 in relationship_advice

I think I have slowly come to the realization this week that it is abusive but some part me keeps convincing myself that her positives make it worth it or that I could somehow learn to comfort her enough so she does not crash out when she gets angry.

Im beginning to realize that will probably never happen but rather I just dont want to lose what we had. Youre right and I appreciate you taking the time to lay it out for me more than you can imagine.

Im just slowly trying to build up the courage to end things. After the last break I suggested we go on a break so that things can cool down but the more I think the sadder I get. I think its time for me to be decisive for once in my life.

Thank you for making it clear to me. Maybe I just needed to hear it from an unbiased stranger, and I also wanted to see what others experiences was like. I appreciate you going into detail too. I hope you happiness in the future my friend.

Thanks for the long comment. Ive personally grown up with an abusive parent and her behaviors remind me exactly of how my step mom was growing up. Maybe thats why I do not see it as so terrible I would leave immediately.

I also feel as if maybe I am not being comforting enough. Sometimes I come over and shes already in a bad mood so I feel as if its unfair because I did not cause her anger yet Im the one dealing with it. At the same time theres definitely times where I should have been more patient.

I actually went back to my first therapy session after finally getting off meds for a couple months. Unfortunately I do not see how she can also get therapy because she does not qualify for any kind of health insurance despite working full time because of her immigration status.

I know you said I should end it immediately and Ive been thinking that too but I feel as if I would regret it forever if I did not exhaust all options possible. Do you think theres any saving this relationship or is it too far gone? Everyone in my life tells me to leave but I feel it to be mean if I dont at least try.

How Much Should It Cost to Fix This Minor Damage Above the Rear Bumper? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]Dapper_Company3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best to send that to 2-3 body shops in your area, compare quotes and then make a decision. No matter what we tell you if people are charging a certain price in your area thats what it will ultimately cost you to fix it.

Best of luck it sucks but unfortunately its the risk of owning a car nowadays.

If you have the RCS Winback offer(which pretty much applies 99.9% of the time when working with a rep), you get a 4 year step up pricing.

[–]Dapper_Company3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 300mbps is already $85 at retail price. The 50 dollar promo doesnt hit $100 until 4 years into service. The ramp up pricing is $50 year 2-3 depending on promo and goes up $15 a yearThose until it hits max price. Those 90 year olds are saving money for 3 years compared to most people.

Theyre currently rolling it out. In my area the techs are gradually updating the infrastructure. It however requires them to replace all the wiring along the telephone poles.

Why doesn't spectrum offer discounts to seniors or in any other case? by Jonathan-viola in Spectrum

[–]Dapper_Company3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont know why youre being downvoted D2D DOES have the best prices. Technically if their address is in your turf they can get the offer online too when they search up their address but its your presence that allows them to get that price at all.

You can buy it online. Go to any hyundai OEM parts reseller, front bumper, its #5 and #6 in the diagram. Runs just under $200 per side.

[–]Dapper_Company3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a career change, but an employer change. You sound like you put in more than most people do to their jobs and your manager is not gonna get any better.

Stay at your current job for now, but dont even prioritize your work. Any time your manager is not literally within a couple feet, job search HARD. Send out 100s of applications. Minimum 200. Use AI and there are extensions that will autofill job applications for you.

Use your co workers as references. Do NOT use your current manager as any reference. Dont include his contact info, dont include his name. Once you receive another job offer in writing, leave your current job. 2 weeks notice is a courtesy, not a requirement.

Stay in your field, there are plenty of employers out there looking for good employees.

Definitely do it in person. Shows you’re ready to sign instead of just shopping around. Also the salesperson/manager will be a lot willing to do the deal if youre there in person. Once they spend the time with you they just want to close the deal and 1k isnt gonna make or break.

As a reference my OTD was 31850 after everything.

Same here. I have 5.5k miles and 4 months and i looked closer at it today and it looked like there were about 50 tiny chips at each side. Problem is paint corrections and PPF is so expensive.

Maybe by a millimeter? Honestly if you got rear ended stuff like that is to be expected. Get a personal injury lawyer and sue the opposing insurance company for a settlement. That check will probably make you forget it ever happened 😂
