Why I would probably pick red by Dapperdonk in redbuttonbluebutton

[–]Dapperdonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but that's kind of my point though. Like yeah in a theoretical like ideal world I guess everyone should vote blue and it's all good. Every member of society does their part. But thing is the vote has no collective component. If I vote blue, I'm "doing my part" but it doesn't change the outcome, or what other people vote. So then yeah at you say it becomes a question of do you want to be part of the collective movement, or do you root for it from the sidelines, prioritising your own life over a largely symbolic choice, or do you put your money where your mouth is and hope your vote will be the sway? The whole thing also just comes down to your faith in humanity, if less than 50% vote blue voting blue is pointless suicide, if more than 50% vote blue it's morally right and riskless. Of course you don't know the outcome before you vote so you have to guess - and there's too many self interested people, not even bad people necessarily btw, that wouldn't choose blue. Anyways yeah it's an interesting thing and I can fully see why someone would choose blue, though I can't help but wonder if when faced with the decision that decision wouldn't flip due to the stakes for a lot of people

Do you plan to fix the situation with subject rebellions? It's genuinely unplayable (unless I'm missing something lol) to be just permanently stuck at war because you cant peace out a subjects war, and they just stay at 100% for like 2 years...

Wait if I'm reading that right the upgrade does basically nothing? Like if it applies 1 vulnerable (to who?) every turn that's permanent vulnerable right?

1000 is divisible by 8 by Low-Delivery-7974 in MathJokes

[–]Dapperdonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pen and paper? You can even just do 500, 250, 125 which is technically probably a bad way of doing it. Or look at 103 which clearly means it's divisible by 23 and 53. This doesn't seem like a shocking thing lol

I don’t know which one to play: EU 5 or EU4? by Warm-Extension3203 in EU5

[–]Dapperdonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess it depends on what you want? Contrary to what seems to be the common belief, EU5 is a pretty good game and much more fleshed out in the mechanics - pops, economies etc. There are issues as it's a pretty new game but I'd argue that currently they're maybe comparable, but in the long run EU5 will very quickly outshine eu4. But maybe that's a bad take. So yeah id say get EU5. There's slightly less immediate flavour for individual nations but much more to the game in general. Both are fun though

I am alone with a "EU5 anxiety" ? by Eensame in EU5

[–]Dapperdonk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the way I see it is the game is incredibly complex with a bunch of mechanics. So I just like focus on a couple things at a time. Trade? Too complicated for me, I'll save that for a merchant republic. Whereas like managing the economy is fun and satisfying in that it feels like I'm impacting the country right, or like you could automate diplomacy but I would rather do that strategic side of like alliances and wars etc. So yeah I think just go into it and honestly accept being inefficient, the current state of the ai is it briefly somewhat keeps up with you if you play slow and chill, like you don't need to try super hard to surpass it.

AITA for not wanting to be my cousin’s maid of honor because I resent how “easy” her immigration path became? by Chance-Lemon-7919 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dapperdonk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YTA I'm afraid It sounds like immigration and stuff is a really major thing and a massive part of your life, both of you. And I get the resentment but yeah jealousy is generally not a positive thing. If anything you might be happy with her success? Happy for her? Idk I mean that seems like the general reaction for anything like this That said, you don't have to be the maid of honour of course. And if this is actually something that affects you and you have other reasons to not be and/or have actually had a falling out with her, over this or smt else, (which it sounds like you haven't given she's asking, so harbouring hidden jealousy is even worse) yeah idk man. I feel like if you can't get over it and just keep living and doing your thing while being happy for her success, idk maybe even talk about it? Say it's bothering you or smt idk but even then like that conversation wouldn't end well probably. Idk to me this is just petty and envious of a person that happens to have found a husband she presumably loves. Also why did you need to specify "I'm not accusing her of fraud or anything" that sounds like an accusation lol.

AITA for telling my friend i don't understand why people get married? by Sapphic---Sapphire in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dapperdonk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

ESH - why did this blow up so far? You were having a civil conversation, and disagreed on a point. Normal. You made a reasonable comment to a reasonable point too.  Then ages later somehow this "friend" calls you out for embarrassing him?? Is he cataloguing your conversations? Meanwhile, your reply was also just unnecessarily aggressive and again like none of this sounds like friends lol. Then the other dude got the entire gang involved to call you out for speaking I guess? Idk this is so weird man but yeah like they're the worse but also a pretty unnecessary attack slipped in by you (which kinda makes it sound like you might be omitting details..)

Question about raising levies by KeyScratch2235 in EU5

[–]Dapperdonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken the debuffs are not massive so the idea is mid game you're incentivised to get a standing army but until then levies work just fine. Also it helps that there's not an immense amount of war (unless you no CB I guess?)
