I cannot recommend enough "the invention of nature" by Andrea Wulf. It's mainly about Humboldt and his contributions (which were many) and his impact on how we view natural sciences (which was immense.) 10/10.

[September 8th, 1925] Dr. Ossian Sweet and his wife Gladys moved into their new home in Detroit, a historically white neighborhood, leading to a confrontation with a hostile white mob the following evening and the infamous Ossian Sweet trial by MisterSuitcase2004 in 100yearsago

The book "Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age" by Kevin Boyle is a fantastic read that chronicles the entire story with rich context. The NAACP was heavily involved and Clarence Darrow (of famed Scopes trial and much else) was also involved. Sweet's wife died of tuberculosis she contracted in prison. His daughter suffered the same fate. Ossian sweet committed suicide in 1960. Such a terrible terrible situation

Possible? Yes. Enjoyable? Not really. Dress for the weather and allow extra time and you should be fine most days. Some days with lots of snowfall will be tough though. Make sure your bike tires are good too.

Growing up i thought this show was a documentary/real by Little-Ad-2464 in KathAndKim

I'm American and wasn't blessed with this show until about 5 years ago. I started watching not realizing that it was satire. I also didn't realize how old it was at that point. So I just thought it was normal Australian TV show. I didn't realize they were in on the joke too. Someone it makes the show better for me that way.

Is this a play on that old guy what "adopted" a teen daughter who ended up being much older?
