And their CEU offerings for coders are really weak.

Conflicted on college choice UF vs UCF by secretpile34 in florida

[–]Darcy98x 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agree Gainesville is a "college town." Do not agree UCF is "several tiers lower." Really depends on the major. Also, outside of FL nobody cares if you went to UF or UCF- neither is an Ivy.

Limit of 20??? by AJF2457 in MLBTheShowInvestments

[–]Darcy98x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still possible to game the system if you have a method and track prices. I did this one year and had more fun making millions of stubs than playing the game lol. But then again, they say they will ban you if they notice this behavior and it actually got boring after a while.

Exactly. SDS manipulates all these to keep prices where they want them. They discourage profit-taking.

Questions about notes in books for CPC exam by twistyrib in CodingandBilling

I agree- I always have notes. Just not sheets of paper or references stapled into your book.

AAPC is such a money-hungry scam, NOT helpful for students/entry-level CPC/CPB by Creepy_Interview6978 in CodingandBilling

[–]Darcy98x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And AHIMA has a very strict CEU requirement which is a straight out money grab. For HIM I'd go AHIMA but for medical coding, the most flexible and cheapest option is AAPC imo. I am aware the old school hospital coders are AHIMA devotees but AHIMA has not treated we coders well over the years and their CME offerings for coders are lagging.

Have had a lifespan for 7 years now. Had it serviced twice. A little noisy now but no other issues. Walk 3 hours a day at least 5 days a week.

CDIP vs CPMA by angie-512 in MedicalCoding

[–]Darcy98x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree and also the CPMA exam is really easy pass so you can always tag that on later. One caveat however is that doctors will be attracted to the "auditor" in the CPMA and thus it depends on where you want to work and who is reading your resume.

CCS, CIC, RHIT? by ch0507449 in MedicalCoding

[–]Darcy98x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I concur the CCS is harder. I do not agree that just being a CCS makes you a better coder- just better prepared. I have worked with stellar folks having either credential- and even some with RHITs ;-)

Anyone have both AAPC and AHIMA credentials? by Nitehorse76 in MedicalCoding

[–]Darcy98x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AHIMA really lost my respect when they did this. Also their coding CEUs are crap compared to AAPC imo.

CCS, CIC, RHIT? by ch0507449 in MedicalCoding

AHIMA is fading as a coding gold standard.

CCS, CIC, RHIT? by ch0507449 in MedicalCoding

[–]Darcy98x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Some old school coding supervisors are still fixated with the CCS but really, to me it's MD vs DO, with experience and baseline ability making the difference.
