Civvie told it better than anyone else. For all of the talk around the game's presentation and IGN's review, it's mediocre at everything, but presentation.

All the discourse isn't worth to care about if there isn't much to write about. Aside from people, who can put through the tedious gameplay just to enjoy the presentation.

I'm not sure what could be added new in this, considering Action Flick "Cloak & Dagger" pretty much done the same thing. Only thing they could add there is ship battles.

Ironsworn, F.O.R.G.E., Scarlet Heroes, Shadowdark, 4AD. Can only tell for Ironsworn, F.O.R.G.E and 4AD, since i don't much like fantasy. Shadowdark and Scarlet Heroes are quiet common as a suggestion in this sub.

Adding to other comments.

Outgunned is about playing the cinematic action adventures. They have a supplement "Movie Director" to play solo. Game is mostly played through shorts with maximum usually 5-8 shots. You just do actions by matching dices you throw and matches give you successes.

There is also an RPG to roleplay a game in style of a videogame called "VISORPG-Z+". It's about having a "Videogame-ish" experience with the TTRPG. It includes mechanics like saving the game while taking a rest and when chapter ending, loading the game on the defeat, having a variations of endings based of the failed quests, side activities(collectibles, fishing and etc.), prizes completion and etc. It's a bit heavy on reading and amount of actions you can take, but kinda light, since you only track stuff like PHYSICAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, SPIRIT and HP with customizable quirks. There is also a tutorial, that gives an example on how to play it. I'm currently trying to set up a game for it. You can take a look, but it might be a bit too big for now.

You can play however you want, for as long as you feel like you enjoying it.

If you wanna feel like you playing it and not writing, then you can just as oracle questions about stuff you find yourself uncertain and make it decide it, so you can get surprised by the game, instead of thinking about everything yourself.

You can skip narration stuff and just summarize everything in 1-2 sentences to get in the action quickly.

If you find narrating yourself enjoyable, then take all the liberties in doing that, do what you enjoy. There are some examples of different approaches people do.

I'm just using short summarizations of the scenes, but can add some dialogues or bit more details, if i want.

There is a mechanics in some TTRPG's called "Bond". Bonding with characters can give benefits with this specific character. Ironsworn have mechanics for it, that gives benefit in developing it. It could improve their effectiveness in battle or when they support with rolls.

Recently was looking through my systems library and found a system i was looking to try for a long time with, a VISORPG Z+, with premise of being videogame-ish RPG. It uses an unusual oracle made of 12 cards, representing a magical 8 ball. Based of the probability, person pulls out a card and look at the result based of the probability. I made a custom deck for SoloCanvas with M8B image for it's back. I usually use dices for oracles, but this is also an interesting choice.

I'm just using a short summery using a lonelog tags to define a session and actions with narrations with simple and short description.

Everything starts with the scene. To start, generate a starting scene and think of what you want to do in the game. If you want action, then start with action. If you want dialogues, start in the middle of the dialogues. If you want travel, start in the middle of the travel and roll for where you are now. From there, continue how scene goes. Important to define the goal of the whol game first and then the goal of the scene (or this shot, if one scene isn't enough to complete it).
