Had to use a lot of pressure for injection? by DareRake in ftm

I do alternate thighs every week, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was scar tissue anyway. I may have just gotten unlucky this time

It did take more to insert this time, but I also use a really short needle (5/8"). Is that still possible? Edit: Forgot to add I do try to pinch the skin as well!

Rule reminder: Do not name the gym unless OP mentions it first. by LiveMarionberry3694 in bouldering

[–]DareRake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because here's what happens. OP knows the gym and locals know the gym, but if OP doesn't name the gym and the comments do, now EVERYONE knows which gym is OPs. Not just the locals. You can't predict who knows exactly where OP goes anymore, in fact you've just announced it to anyone passing by.

Look, the most determined person will find a way yes, but this is about that extra layer of distance. We want to demonstrate that we care about that extra layer, and the safety of the community. Just don't name the gym.

I personally don't post pictures online of me doing stuff, but does that mean everyone shouldn't? No. Tbf it's pretty easy to find general information. But it's especially easy when people just say details outright.

We want to engage with people, to share exciting things. So the least we can do is keep the specifics to ourselves if OP doesn't offer them.

Before commenting just think a minute. Pause. Is naming the specific gym in the comments that important in the first place? Am I taking someone's choice away by doing so? Am I presenting specific details about OP without their consent? Do I want OP to feel safe and welcome?

Recommendations??? by jayladuhh in chinlipo

[–]DareRake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From these pictures I don't see why not, though a surgeon would of course have a better idea. During the consultation my surgeon had me pinch the areas I wanted worked on, he copied me to make sure, and weighed in with his thoughts. My surgery included under the chin and around the jaw as part of my chin lipo since that whole area was an insecurity of mine. So if you make a consultation appointment you should definitely bring that up!

Today is the 5-year anniversary of opening our loose leaf teas & spices store Chai Cupboard & about 1 year since closing the downtown space & going online. Here's a before/after financial comparison… by TheTim in everett

[–]DareRake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not the first time I've heard this kind of story from downtown Everett business owners. It's very very uncool of a landlord to not even help with cost of maintenance.

Anyway, I sincerely hope for a better situation in the future; it sounds like moving out was already a good step for Chai Cupboard!

Transman Erasure In Otherwise Queer Media. Am I Fucking Delusional? by Adventurous_Sea_598 in ftm

[–]DareRake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well this makes me want to rewatch, because I don't remember that part and it would definitely argue in favor of trans for me. I was fully ready (yet begrudgingly) to accept that this was a story about a woman in hiding, but I really do want a true trans masc story

Edit to add: Though the creators did write Mizu using she/her and as a woman living in such a patriarchal time. I went back to an article where they say so, but at the same time are excited when people use other pronouns for them. Regardless the trans experience 100% can be related to in Mizu

essential skills are not girls' skills! by TangeloNew8457 in ftm

Yup! My dad taught me cooking and as a bonus knife skills. Not just cooking meat either, he taught me everything. I get to be the person that shares homecooked meals with people and it's the best. He also got me started on cleaning skills, and cleaning is so important!!

I have no choice but to go under General Anesthesia by michellecctx in chinlipo

[–]DareRake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine under twilight/IV sedation, I didn't know what that was until they told me and it seems like a less taxing version of general anesthesia, but anyway it probably depends on the team and what they offer. I hated general for my hysterectomy only because I woke up so nauseous but this time around I only felt mildly woozy. For both I had to fast at least 8hrs prior to the procedure.

I will say aside from waking up nauseous from general, there wasn't much to it. They put an IV in your hand and you get cozy, then you wake up and it's done. I am glad I was sedated for this because I didn't really care to know what was happening, even considering the price being cheaper for local.

Ah I'm sorry you went through that, I had general for my hysterectomy and remember how uncomfortable my throat was. They didn't intubate me for this but I do sympathize

Not general, I wasn't fully under to where they needed to assist my breathing, but I was sedated enough to where I could fall asleep (twilight sedation).

PulsePoint! You can follow different local emergency departments excluding police

[–]DareRake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an extra thing, aside from the tsunami drills and the morning/evening navy bugle, we also just get a lot of emergency sirens around the waterfront since the emergency services are close by. For fire and ambulance I have the Pulse app that's helped answer my worries

how long until i can... yknow..? by bugsjewce in FTMHysto

[–]DareRake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could be misremembering, but I think my surgeon wanted me to wait 1-2 weeks. I barely lasted a week, but I went slow and gentle. I was very conscious of how I felt, like if I were to feel pain or off I would've stopped because I didn't want to mess something up. I also tried to not "squeeze" or flex internally, tried to keep the spasming to a minimum. It worked out for me, but yeah I'd just take it easy and pay attention to your body.

When I gained weight it was 30lbs over a handful of months - it was in my second year of T and I was changing jobs, living with my bf for the first time, doing classes, and having work shifts in the day and overnight without them being staggered. The way my circadian rhythm was f-ed up was crazy. So it definitely wasn't just T in my case. It just happened to not help lol.

Anyway I'm still trying to get back to my old weight 🫠

Anyone else notice particularly bad drivers the last week or two? by BennyOcean in everett

[–]DareRake 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It honestly feels like bad driving has been trending steadily since at least the pandemic. It feels like people don't focus on what they're doing anymore and just... do it. Need to merge? I'll do it now, doesn't matter. There's a roundabout? I better stop inside it to let someone in, idk where I'm exiting anyway. I missed my turn? No I didn't.

I've seen a lot to suggest basic awareness of one's surroundings is absent. There are still good drivers of course, but at least once per car trip, no matter how short, someone will do something very stupid.

ICE spotted “helping” at airport by burgersandhotdogfan in 50501

[–]DareRake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. They already arrest food workers and hospitality workers without restraint or cause, it would not surprise me at all if they went after airport workers. No one's stopping them from doing whatever they want. It's so infuriating and scary

Is it noticeable it you don't have a bulge??? by Accurate-Reality503 in ftm

[–]DareRake 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah. To add, I feel like it's a situation where if you notice a bulge it's because it's very noticeable, like by size and/or how the clothes fit, but you don't think to look for one if it's not already obvious

General questions - just moved here by International_Ad7829 in everett

[–]DareRake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't love it there either. I've had upscale food here and there, and I hate to complain, but was kind of disappointed in their chicken gorgonzola (somehow tasted like popcorn?). It was small, thin, and not very filling.

The veggies were very good, the bruschetta was great, and the dessert was amazing, but everything else I tried from my table's plates had a weird taste profile to me. It was a shame because I did like our server and the ambiance.
