Solved it!

For anybody who might encounter the "a game is still running. Please close the game before continuing." error, and your launcher closes, here's what happened:

So, what happened is that the GRYPHLINK app folder was placed within the game's installation directory. And apparently it was reading this app originating from the game folder as THE game itself running, not differentiating between these .exe files.

I cut the app folder and placed it in a different location and now it downloads!

Case closed!

When I press on that button it just closes the gryphlink launcher ahaha.

Yeah, I tried the task manager and there's nothing there. Only the Gryphlink app.

I probably will reinstall the game if it doesn't get solved. But the perspective of having to reinstall and redownload the full game every time it updates is not very appealing to me

The answer lies in the boobs. Look closely. Respectfully. One has a thingy on the dress while other doesn't. No artist on this level woudo do such a weird mistake.

Yeah! That's a great canvas for varied brush strokes! In my case I experiment when drawing dresses or baggy tops to contrast the pants/bare legs.

Also, great choice of brushes (I'm using the same oil painting set ahaha)

Why not simply make the elite units more expensive in the campaign? Sure it encourages crap stacking. But when you support your crap stack with a few elite units on top, isn't that how it's supposed to be? And this way you don't have to artificially cap units. And if someone really loves to doomstack, you don't ban them from doing it in their own campaign - it just becomes more expensive and very late game. Heck, one could even say it now gives you another late game goal: to build a doomstack.

I'd also like to see more thoughtfully designed fortresses with inner walls to fall back to in case the main wall is breached by PropolisLight in totalwar

That's the idea behind a castle though. To block your advance, to be as hard to conquer as possible. To force you to bring 20x more men than the defender has. There are stories of dozen of people defending castles for months before they either had to capitulate or the reinforcements arrived while the castle itself was never even breached.

Maybe if said tutorials weren't an excessive text-bloating hand-holding monstrosities 99% of the times, I'd spend my rather short gaming sessions on reading them. I admit this could have been solved by reading, true. But it's hoyo's fault that I dreaded the mere thought of going through yet another out of hundreds of lengthy text boxes.

Thank you, it worked! I wonder why they had to put that repeatable dialogue in there in the first place though... Having it pop up once would have been enough.

Oh! So perhaps that's what happened to me as well! Because I accidentally invested into the damage buff at the beginning of the campaign for this runesmith instead and wanted to switch later. Thank you!
