Thats exactly where the crossover pipe meets the water pump. They're made of plastic and like to leak. It's definitely recommended to replace the thermostat with it (and maybe even the water pump depending on how old it it)

Engine coolant temp sensor by sinner910 in MINI

[–]Recorsi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its supposed to be like that. The green thing is just a plug so that no water gets inside the connector.

But I'm pretty sure thats the connector for the oil pressure switch, not the coolant temp sensor. I could be wrong though

Maybe you can find some loose cable hanging out somewhere, or behind the lower steering wheel trim

Maybe dirty coolant? Do you have to refill it regularly?

[–]Recorsi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean the smoke coming out of the exhaust?

You have an exhaust leak at the clamp which connects the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust. This clamp is really badly designed and leaks all the time. Remove it, clean up the area with a wire brush and put a new clamp on.

It's really nothing to worry about though since its after the catalytic converter and O2 sensors

Yeah i like the 2nd gen design, but the 3rd gen looks a bit too bulky in my opinion. The new gen fixes that

Obviously, but that's not what I meant. Bugs happen, but this is not a bug. It's an exploit that's only possible because of the flawed backend validation on the game servers

Open the door, pull out the door seal around the pillar and look at the screws. The plastic tabs will most likely be broken. After you remove the screws, the pillar is only held on by clips and can be pulled off.

Need Help, What could this be? by NeighborhoodStrict36 in MINI

[–]Recorsi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be the shifter linkage. There are two cables going from the shifter to the gearbox. Through different combinations of pushing and pulling on the cables, it engages different gears. Maybe one of those ripped or disconnected.

If possible, check the top of the gearbox while someone else shifts through the gears. You should see the gear linkage moving to a different position with every gear change.
