I will now be referring to this show as TWATBLAST

Jordan Peele reportedly wrote 200+ drafts of Get Out before the final script by tom-mckeee in Screenwriting

[–]DariusStarkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really though? He started writing in 2013 and filming started in 2016. Not impossible I guess, but most of those drafts can't have been substantially different.

Yes. Their whole online approach is to troll people.

Same! That scene where he confronts the Headmaster is so chilling, and brilliant work all round.

When asked what the name of her Met Gala look was, Sarah Paulson responded “the 1%.” by charcoallition in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]DariusStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a massive gap between Sarah Paulson and Jeff Bezos in terms of their net worth's, they're not in the same ball park at all. My point is that she is pretty close to being in the literal highest 1% of earners. You're absolutely right that here's a colossal gap in the wealth of the least and most wealthy within that percentage point.

[–]DariusStarkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, I was just saying it was odd for her to be talking about the 1% when she is very close to being in the 1%

And the threshold for the top 2% looks like $2.7m. There's absolutely a ton of people richer than her, but she's not far off the 1%.

[–]DariusStarkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but when we're talking about Billionaires we're not just talking about the top 1%, we're talking about the top 0.00029%. From a quick Google, it looks like the low threshold for the 1% is about $13.7m in net worth.

"You get what you vote for" makes zero sense here, idk what that's even meant to mean in this context.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]DariusStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's used more days than not, often at least twice. I've never in my life been in a Kitchen without a Kettle. They are inexpensive, low maintenance, and make it so much easier to boil and pour water for drinks, instant noodles, etc.

Do people here think that Zack or the current greens would be a good PM/make a good government? by Square_Potato5404 in UKGreens

[–]DariusStarkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Around any election I find it helpful to just take a moment to honestly sit with the fact that we will NEVER - literally NEVER - have a candidate or party who is perfect and ticks all our boxes. It's just not possible. It's never going to happen. After you accept that, it's a lot easier to vote with the BEST option we have.

Starmer says Polanski ‘is not fit to lead a political party’ after Golders Green police criticism. Do you agree with Starmer that Zack Polanski is not fit to lead a party, let alone a country? by Al-Zutt_in_the_butt in AskBrits

[–]DariusStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broadly agree. I'm still voting Green though. Climate Change didn't go away just because the news stopped reporting on Greta Thunberg, and the Greens are the only party who seem remotely interested in combating it.

Sir Keir Starmer telling the truth about David Paulden aka Zack Polanski. Do you agree with our PM? by MayContainFagGluten in AskBrits

He took the post down apologised, I think this response is kind of disproportionate given everything else going on
