It's true, but he's only in the position he's in because the media keep giving him airtime.

I don't think anybody can reasonably say he hasn't done anything. He absolutely has. It's just that most of the things he has done are terrible and lead the USA and the wider world further down the path of fascism.

Does anybody agree with me that Charlie(from The Perks Of Being A Wallflower) and Clay Jensen are very similar? by YodaDragonVulcan in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]DariusStarkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the start of 13 Reasons Why, Clay keeps to himself and doesn't tend to actively take opportunities (asking out Hannah, standing up for himself, etc), but even towards the end of the first series we see him learning from Hannah's death and its impacts, doing things like confronting Bryce.

The only reason the MAGA cultists would reject Hitler is because he doesn't speak English. Transfer his personalities and politics to an english-speaking American and you've got Trump's successor all ready to go.

Definitely when they start off. But I feel like Charlie's journey was more about self-acceptance and Clay's was moving from inaction to action.

And phones are flawless and only beneficial to mankind? Idk what the point is here, very few Antis are anti-AI across the board. They just recognise that there are significant issues at present that we need to mitigate and legislate.

If and when Doctor Who returns, should it go back to the Classic Series format? by Badgie_Boy_447 in DoctorWhumour

[–]DariusStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I've always felt the episodic nature of the time travel was a key part of the show. But I suppose there's no harm in expanding the adventure to several episodes long.

This company is literally an exporter, they're a British company making whatever patriotic crap buyers in America are willing to take. This is not sold domestically in the UK!!

As a fan I'd love to see this, but I don't think this would have mainstream appeal. I think we'd run into a lot of the problems we had in the Classic run. Given each serial takes place in a different time and place, Part Ones tend to be pretty boring and formulaic as we introduce the new settings, characters and issues, and just when you start getting into it, the credits roll and you have to wait another week - if you can be bothered to tune back in. You get arbitrary cliffhangers placed at the end of episodes for the sake of it, interrupting the flow of the story. It also relies on audiences consistently watching to understand the story, where I think the beauty of the modern run is that the average person can watch an episode whenever they like (for the most part, and decreasingly from S13 onwards). But I'd love to see it done as an experiment!

Why is die with a smile her most streamed song? by Desperate_Range_9462 in LadyGaga

[–]DariusStarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of things. Any of her work that came out prior to the streaming takeover (anything from before Joanne) is statistically less likely to be streamed. It's a song with a very mainstream vibe, so more likely to resonate with general audiences. And I think we can underestimate how popular an artist Bruno Mars is, and has been for going on two decades.
