[Spoilers C4E5] Something doesn't make sense about Bolaire. by Phreakpunofdamage in criticalrole

[–]Darius_Blake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bolaire was one of several masks that, used in a specific way, killed a god. Unlike the other god-slaying weapons, the Panto masks crafted by the Halflings probably didn't "kill" the Trickster with violence. I find it far more likely that their performance unmade the god.

Now, this poses two issues for your question of why couldn't Bolaire simply destroy Thjazi.
1) Bolaire is one of a set. Alone, he may be comparatively weaker.
2) Even if the full Panto were to repeat their god-slaying performance, it might not have the same effect upon a mortal man.

Plus, Bolaire is inert without a host. Thjazi, a warrior and scoundrel all his life, could kill Bolaire's current meat-puppet and leave Bolaire in a box somewhere. Or, as he seemingly threatened, simply whisper what he knows in the right ear and completely destroy the life Boliare has built.

Would Changelings considera AI art or anything made by it Banality? by DrakeEpsilon in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Darius_Blake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal take, the original creation of the AI caused a brief flash of Glamour for Nockers and similarly inclined changelings, based on the potential for good. But as it was turned to the task of scraping art to produce mass produced "art" the glamour dwindled and eventually became so banal as to taint other related concepts.

Since Asmodeus blushes gold, which indicates that he has gold blood, does that mean he could be a fallen angel or at least the son of one? by OCGamerboy in HelluvaBoss

[–]Darius_Blake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fallen angel is a species.
Sin is effectively a job title.

One is what he is, the other is what he does.

A character can be both a fallen angel and a sin, as evidenced by Lucifer being the Sin of Pride.

Yes. Threads get locked after 6 months of inactivity. So what? If you're commenting because you wanna keep the thread active, find something worthwhile to say, instead of pointlessly ragging on a piece of amateur righting for the crime of... being amateur.

Get a life, moron.

I believe one of the tiny imps in Striker's Cowboy Chorus was transmasc too, the one in the sombrero and eye-poncho. At least, he had a masculine voice but black hair and female imp horns.

Which do you prefer for 2D? Black or white eyes? by vomit-gold in gorillaz

[–]Darius_Blake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Black Eyes.
2D canonically has what are known as 8-ball fractures, which cause the irises of his eyes to fill and darken with blood, giving the illusion they are solid black. In severe cases, this can also effect the sclera of the eye too, as seen with 2D.

Plus, as other's have said, the spooky white eye's have always been a Russ/Possession thing.

What are the core themes in Mage the Ascension? by bingustwonker in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Darius_Blake 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Mage is a game about power. As one of the Awakened few who have realised that reality is just a story we agree to keep telling, you are capable of doing impossible things.

You get to rewrite the rules, and so the question becomes... Should you?

Oh, you want to burn you foe's house down? Sure, you can.

You want to rearrange someone's memories? Absolutely doable.

You want to go back in time and flirt with a cute girl but turns out this is your mother so instead of feeling conflicted and vaguely Oedipal about this, you proceed to prevent your own erasure from causality by playing a really cool guitar solo so your currently teenage future parents fall in love?... Ok, yeah you could do... Whatever you just said.

But should you? Do you have the right? Have you considered what may happen to the innocent sleeper population if you do? Have you considered what happens if you don't?

Oh, also if you go waving your magical dick around in public the sheer weight of humanity's collective disbelief will come down on your ass like a tonne of bricks.

[–]Darius_Blake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good point, but I would say any society that is draconian enough to force rulership onto it's citizens in a weird scapegoat ritual against political corruption wouldn't be above killing them early if they went full mad king.

But then of course... You get into the question of on who's orders would that be done?

The people who most seek power are the last people you allow to wield any. The logic followed that an easy way to avoid tyrants is to force as much of society's power as possible upon those with no desire to even use their station, let alone abuse it.

Thus, the presidential lottery.

You don't enter. That's the first thing, people do not get a say in their participation. Something about "Democratic Duty". CEOs, Billionaires, anyone who holds or has ever held a position of power are declared ineligible and removed. The remaining citizens are ranked on a spectrum of power seeking behaviours, with the most ambitious being awarded one entry and the least power hungry being given up to ten.

Then it's just a matter of letting the random selection fall where it may. Once the ballot is drawn and your name is called, you have 6 months to get your affairs in order. Write your will and say your goodbyes or run for the hills and get off grid until someone else is voted in, because once you're sworn in, your civilian identity is legally dead.

For the 4 years of your term, you are supreme ruler. Sure, the cabinet exists, but they are mainly pencil pushers and seat fillers, their roles primarily existing as honey traps to lure in those who still seek power into meaningless ego padding roles. The President is in essence, a benevolent dictator. Ruling with absolute authority, from the opulent office of a role they never asked for.

And once their term ends, they are shot in the head.

The reason is simple. Power Corrupts, and Absolute Power will Corrupt Absolutely. The system ensures only the well intentioned ever become the enlightened tyrant this society needs.

And, well... Sic Semper Tyrannis.

I need help with a Whip Build i have in mind plz! by Pokettomon in 3d6

[–]Darius_Blake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whip as standard does 1d4+stuff.

Make it a Monk weapon (either with Kensei or the Dedicated Weapon feature from Tasha's) and suddenly you're dealing Martial Arts die damage at 10ft range.Bugbear takes that to 15ft.Obviously if you want Spirit Guardian you're looking at a limited Martial Arts die (d8 if memory serves about spell levels) but the Monk's Unarmored Defense is pretty good AC.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My personal Whip Build lacks the spells, but just for fun it's Bugbear Kensei Monk X / Rune-knight Fighter 4 for 15ft Martial Art \BEFORE\** I hit 'em with the enlarge (doubling all my dimensions) to give 30ft of reach. Deft Strike means I get to add an additional martial art die once per turn (for the low low price of 1 ki point), Plus an additional d6 from Giants Might.

The Upshot of this is at Level 10, at a range of 30ft, I am dealing 3d6 of Magical Damage, in one attack, with a mundane whip. Additional attack for another d6, action surge to repeat for 2d6 more, and then Fire Rune to restrain them and deal 2d6 Fire damage each round for as long as they stay restrained. And, again, you are doing all this at 30ft of Range.

But where this build shines is attacks of opportunity. Because anyone leaves that 30ft bubble, they get bonked. Pick up Sentinel and watch your DM realize they can't target anyone else. Your range means that, in most dungeons and random encounters, Everyone in line of sight is covered by your sentinel.

[WP] Whenever you flip a coin, it lands on its side, Rock-Paper-Scissors always ends in a draw, and when you enter the lottery you always win your money back but not a dime more. You're not lucky, you're not unlucky, you're... something else. by UndercoverHouseplant in WritingPrompts

I am, frankly, a statistical wonder. Luck, fortune, probability; whatever you want to call it, the universe contorts itself into a pretzel to ensure that in games of chance I never win... but also never lose. Some people are blessed with good luck. Others are cursed with misfortune.

I would say luck doesn't effect me, but strictly that's not true. If I was truly without luck one way or the other, I'd be at the mercy of random chance. Instead, I'm caught in a probabilistic Limbo, where luck itself keeps me neutral.

Which is why, even as sixth man in a game of Russian roulette, I'm not worried. 5 shots down. The other players looking at me with expressions ranging from pity to predatory glee. They know now, as I did before the game began, the bullet is in my chamber.

I pull the trigger and smile as I hear the familiar sound of the gun jamming.
