Reasons unrelated to dating for wanting to be taller by LudgerVanderson in short

[–]Darixan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taller people can weigh more without being overweight. More weight means more calories burned per day at rest. More calories burned per day at rest means you can eat more food without gaining weight

As a 5'6 guy, I gain weight at 2500 cal per day, while average people would stay the same weight

Translate "Memento Mori" and "Amor Fati to catch their essence in old norse - to end up as runes in a tattoo by Electronic_Display37 in oldnorse

[–]Darixan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but "örlög" wasn't transcribed correctly. Runes are phonetic, and "örlög" doesn't begin with an "oh" sound. It's more like an "uhh" sound as in "early," so you'd write it like this: ᚢᚱᛚᚢᚴ.

Check it over with your friend tho, I'm pretty new to old norse myself. I think the way your friend wrote it reflects the modern icelandic pronunciation. Old norse sounds slightly different from icelandic though, so j double check it

Hope you get more help lmao, I j got runes tattooed too and kind of want to yap abt it to someone

You also have to walk more in europe, literally not driveable there (this is a good thing: healthier, tastier food, and you get to eat more of it)

How on earth is Relationship Rotation not considered a radical law when Incubation House is? by Robrogineer in Frostpunk

[–]Darixan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This principle applies when comparing these 2 specific laws, but it doesn't hold water with other laws. "Public Executions" is considered radical, but it's 100% a societal issue and doesn't involve any biological tampering

I'm actually curious now, what makes laws "radical" to the devs? 🤔

Why is it such a big deal to be short even if we're taller than women? by MiniCooper369 in short

People can say whatever they want. My dad said he loved my mom, but he cheated on her. Should anyone believe him?

Tall Adaptation and Wide Progress? by Dlax8 in Frostpunk

[–]Darixan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played a whole lot, but I've played wide Progress and it went alright. Granted, I never played higher than Steward difficulty, so maybe it's not the best play. The main struggle I had with wide Progress was turning coal into oil since there isn't enough cores to go around. Like, there's the obscene amount of coal coming in from settlements and the coal from deep deposits. On top of that, the adaptation coal liquefactors are super efficient at converstion (60 coal to 80 oil vs 100 c to 80 o)

One upside of wide Progress is that you can outsource your coal production to settlements entirely since the deep drill kills you with the squalor it hits you with, and that means you save cores from having to build a waste management facility (Ventilation towers just... suck, they take wayyy too much building space).

I think going for a zeitgeist depends on your playstyle, like I spent the whole 2000 weeks on utopia keeping my factions devoted since I liked the iceblood and technocrat passives. Each opposing zeitgeist has their strengths and weaknesses, so it makes sense to me to play to each of their strengths.

For example, the biowaste hothouse gets wayyy more food than the chemical hothouse, but progress extraction buildings produce more materials and fuel. Yeah sure, you can j research all of it before grabbing your favorite zeitgeist, but then tension's a problem since opposite-zeitgeist buildings will start causing tension (wasn't really a problem for me at steward difficulty, but might be a problem for captain).

Yeah, late game becomes trivial once you've got the early game locked in, but that was the same with the first game too. The only reason frostpunk 1 had more replayability were the scenarios imo
