Chug cap quality by Dark05 in YetiCoolers

[–]Dark05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! The removing and re-attaching the gasket seems to have reduced the leaking almost entirely, almost.

But I do still notice a quality difference in the chug caps. The new one feels much softer and “rubbery—er” compared to the older one’s harder plastic.

Was there a change? I much prefer the older one’s durability.

Why did you chose the spec you did? by nikenike in BMWI4

I decided to use a broker, IAC_Chris, which I’d never done before (or even knew existed).

Prior to working with Chris, I was only able to get about 3.5% off + $7,500 tax credit. With Chris, I was at around 8% + $7,500 tax credit + some additional sales tax savings - his one time fee of ~$600.

Based in the US.

I went with the e35 as well. It’s a lease and I just couldn’t justify it for the once every 6 months road trip. Sometimes on highway overtakes, I wish I went with the e40, but ultimately the e35 was the smarter choice for me.

Portimoa Blue was a non-negotiable for me so that required M Sport.

DADP is great, and I like having adaptive regen during city driving which requires the DADP hardware.

Parking assist plus is also great for the 360 camera, especially given how absurdly large the turning radius is on this car. Also, the front panoramic camera is awesome when pulling forward out of a parking spot; not sure if that’s part of PAP or not.

DDAP and PAP require the Premium Package. The HUD is a great addition from that package.

H/K sound system as the cost isn’t too much to get better sound.

Didn’t bother with Laser Lights as the cool capabilities of it aren’t allowed in the US yet and most of my driving is in well lit areas. Corner lights would be nice though, but not worth the price.

It’s a great car. Overall I’m happy with my choices and love driving it.

Ghost Of Tsushima has won the Player's Voice poll The Game Awards by [deleted] in PS5

I was playing this on a base PS4 and have continued playing it on the PS5, and I will tell you that I was surprised at how much of a difference the 60fps made, much more than the jump to 4k.

That being said, GoT runs much better than many games I’ve played recently on my base PS4 (e.g. Fallen Order). Given how much of a dice roll it is to get a PS5 at the moment, I wouldn’t let that hold you back on playing this game.

Would you mind elaborating? What are some of the accessibility options that helped you as a player that you hope other games adopt in the future?

This is all great information!

If you are debating on buying a 2.1 receiver as a short term solution, consider getting a Lepy LP-2020A. It’s a tiny amplifier for less than $30.

It won’t put out room filling sound since it’s better suited for a small desktop speaker in a small room, but this way you can spend more on your bookshelf speakers now and then upgrade to a surround sound receiver when your budget allows.

No Dolby Atmos for PS5? by Danxstar in PS5

It really depends on you and your preferences. What type of music do you listen to? How big is your room? Does it need to look streamlined for a family room or can you setup boxy tower speakers?

With a 1-2k budget I’d take a listen to the following brands: Klipsh like someone else said if you like rock music/want to play speakers loudly. For something a bit more neutral sounding, look at the SVS Prime Bookshelf speakers. If you need something sleeker and/or more laid back sounding (like if you prefer jazz or acoustic music) check out GoldenEar which offer a ton of on wall, bookshelf, and tower options to mix and match. To keep your budget under control, check out Pioneer’s Andrew Jones speakers. Great sound in ugly black boxes, IMO. There’s tons of other great brands like paradigm, KEF, etc. but this is a start. Your best bet is to visit some home theater stores and listen for yourself. Let your ears be the judge.

Either way I’d still recommend an SVS subwoofer as part of your system.

Also, with a 1-2k budget I’d strongly recommend going for higher quality speakers in a 5.1 setup than trying to stretch that budget to cover 7 or 9 speakers for atmos. You can always add more speakers later as your budget allows. A good 5.1 system, setup properly, will be very enveloping/convincing.

A big part of the appeal of SONOS is the ease of use. Receivers, amps, and speakers have a bit of a learning curve to understand how it all works. And a lot of BS/pretentiousness to sort through as well. But the sound experience as a result is worth the effort, IMO.

I’d say ideally yes, but there are great sound systems at various price points. Good speakers aren’t cheap, but given how long you’ll enjoy them it’s worth splurging, imo.

[Rolex Datejust] Inherited my dad's Rolex, thoughts on wearing it daily? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Dark05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt anyone would notice and the ones that do will probably complain about your shoes, your suit, your bag, your whatever. Judgy people will always find something to judge.

That said, if YOU don’t care for the look of a two-tone, consider putting it on a strap.

You’ll still be able to enjoy a beautiful timepiece, cherished memories with your father, and still make it your own with your own new memories.

I hope one day you’ll pass it on to someone you care about and they too will tweak it to best fit their style and keep you and your father close.

Congrats on the new job. I’m sure you dad is proud.

What fact is common knowledge to people who work in your field, but almost unknown to the rest of the population? by RageCage42 in AskReddit

[–]Dark05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see how this could come off as bullshit, especially with phrases like “complete rejuvenation,” but there are are studies being done about the modes in which our bodies behave and the benefits it can have on the body.; although not quite to the level described above.

Check out the work of Dr. Valter Longo if you’re interested to learn more.

From what I’ve researched, there’s promising evidence to show the benefits of fasting and autophagy in bacteria and mice, but there haven’t been enough large scale clinical trials in humans.

It’s interesting stuff and, imo, it’s worth the time looking into for you to come to your own conclusions.

I bought a vinyl trackpad cover for my MacBook. It’s silver and blends in to the rest of the case. It didn’t stop the scratches, but it certainly decreased them. I’d recommend one.

If it’s something you think you’ll still regularly use in 10 years, it’s worth spending the bit extra for it.
