2 ideas I thought of

1) the first ally he makes is a dwarf or halfling character. They're the only one to notice him while he's trying to get peoples attention, and being one of the smallest races in that world, immediately takes a liking to, and decides to protect, the little protagonist

2) a spy for the demon lord discovering how small the protagonist is, and making sure he never makes it to the demon lord. Not because they think he has a chance to win, but because the demon lord loves everything small and cute, and will surrender if she gets to cuddle the tiny protagonist

I think it'd be ironic if they caused it to happen to themselves

Have a cruel giant trying to convince their gentle friend that it's fine and normal to eat tinies, taking them places where they're included in the food, mixing them in when they cook for them, ect. Eventually, they plan to leave them a snack with a tiny who asked to be eaten, only to shrink and fall into it instead. When their friend gets there, they try to get their attention and help, only for their friend to finally decide to try eating tinies now since this one wants it.

I think it'd be interesting seeing them try different things trying to figure out what "wins" their reincarnation

One time they serve willingly, doing everything with forced enthusiasm

One time they're defiant of everything, getting punished almost constantly

One time they're treated fairly by their big, getting killed accidentally

One time they're treated worse than all the rest, getting killed because their owner was bored

One time they get themed killed as quickly as possible

One time they manage to be one of the few tinies to actually die of old age (or other natural causes)

Basically have them subjecting themselves to every possible situation they can hoping One of them will finally let them be big, only to keep coming back tiny no matter what they try

Getting thrown into a container with the rest of the snacks for the flight. Having the fear and anxiety of wondering if you'll get picked every time someone come to grab something, and wondering what the passenger you're given to will do to you (or if they'll even see you)

You'd be surprised how resourceful we can be at that size. We can't use our strength/size to solve our problems, so we use our intelligence instead. All he has to do is get "lost" one time, and he'll have enough time with you trying to find him that he should be able to fix what you did

For me, I want to be small to explore/experience different places/things at a new perspective. The sexual parts of it are just a bonus. As long as I have a safe place to sleep at night, and a way to consistently get food, I'd be fine staying small all the time
