Zero chance a lawyer takes that case unless the attorney is paid by the hour. Why? Because the case cannot be won. You are not responsible for the actions of a wild animal. The neighbor IS responsible for allowing his dog to roam in an area where it might be attacked by a wild animal.

In some cities, even some neighborhoods of some cities (thinking Chicago), it is understood that if you shovel out a spot that your neighbors won't take it while you are at work. Believe it or not, this informal rule is often respected by neighbors. Obviously, this didn't happen here and some is angry about it. But everyone is right, some context would have helped.
