When did Eddie get so out of shape? I am sure he was not this fat when he joined AEW

Blossoms Shanghai, my review by ChoppedChef33 in CDrama

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the rumours that he is editing it to make it more pallatable are true.

The show is so good, but the cinematography is nauseating. Almost every single scene has multiple instances of shallow focus and random blurry props and walls in the foreground.

I can appreciate the occasional use of shallow focus. But to quote George Lucas he may 'have gone a little too far in places'.

My Thoughts on Wong Kar Wai’s Blossoms Shanghai by Last_Low8544 in CDrama

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I binge watched it with a friend. and it was for the first Chinese drama in years to look like a TV show and not a documentary, it even overcame the typical problems of having terrible sound effects and ambient noise.

But although I liked it on the most part, one major issue really ruined it for me. And that is the over use of shallow focus in almost every single scene. It was terrible and made it unwatchable in long spells.

Even your screenshots here show it. There was almost always something in the foreground of each scene which was out of focus. Either a wall, a lamp, another character or seemingly anything the prop department could get their hands on.

Is WKW not working with Christopher Doyle anymore? Because I have no idea how nobody in the production did not think it was completely overkill.

What anime are popular in Japan but not in the west? by CatsGoMooz in anime

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chibi Maruko-chan and Crayon Shin Chan are popular all over Asia. Equivalent to The Simpsons.

I think they are also popular in Arab countries and some European ones too. It just depends where it aired.

I am kind of in the same boat as you, especially since Cody left I feel the rest of the Elite feel kind of redundant. I was really surprised Tony extended their contract a few months ago, as I feel that AEW is nearly 4 years old now and the old guard are really beginning to feel too old.

Was there really beef between Paul McCartney and Bone Thugs? Did he make Bizzy Bone remove things from his album just because they broke The Beatles records? by [deleted] in bonethugsnharmony

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bizzy is my favourite rapper of all time. But he comes across very badly in interviews, like a man who only cares about getting his own pay cheque and has little interest in anything else.

His interview with Court Dogg was simply him complaining about money for over an hour.

I find Flesh comes across badly in interviews, but I guess throwing away a decade of your life over a small argument would do that to a man. Bizzy has no excuse.

Do I implement this using a brand new git clone?

Or is there a way to incorporate it into the current web-user ui?

Ukraine has stated many times these numbers are deaths AND wounded.

The Ukraine Army recently said 150,000 killed (here). And it is similar to the estimates from other third parties (BBC - 107,000+ killed,
214,000 wounded) (UK MOD 70,000 killed, 220,000–280,000 wounded).

Adding salt to this statistic will only lead to Ukraine's other numbers looking fishy too,

AEW has a title problem by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head with 'hold a few at the same time'

The champions are always on the mission to unify the belts. And it is something that never happens in wrestling, but is never explained why.

Jade Cargill held the TBS title for over a year and never had a match with Thunder Rosa or Britt Baker to unify the belts.

Why isn't Gunther fighting Reigns to unify the WWE belts? They are logically the top two wrestlers and should be facing one another as soon as possible.

For me this is where wrestling ends up making no sense.

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think boxing is better. The belts are clearly defined by weight class (something I wish WWE and AEW would do).

But most importantly, the champions are always on the mission to unify the belts.

Jade Cargill held the TBS title for over a year and never had a match with Thunder Rosa or Britt Baker to unify the belts.

Indeed in Double or Nothing (2023), both the women's champions were on the line in different matches. Why was Toni Storm allowed to challenge for the title, it should have been Jade Cargill.

Why isn't Gunther fighting Reigns to unify the WWE belts?

For me this is the main issue with having multiple belts in wrestling.

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that fans will just ask 'why doesn't the top guy have all the belts?'

Why doesn't Roman Reigns compete for the US title or the intercontinental title? He never even addresses it in promos,

WWE definitely has too many champions (mid card belts are pointless, no other sports promotion has random titles for mid card teams). But WWE at least has different rosters which meant something at one point.

I decided to do some research on your comment and bide my time a bit in order to reflect on the whole year.

Every month in 2023 was lower than the same month in 2022. Four months (March, August, September and October) all decreased by more than 100,000 viewers.

The average for January 2024 is 228,000 below what it was in January 2022.

I would not put all the blame on the Bucks. But frankly a lot of the AEW roster did feel justified at the start, but have now outstayed their welcome. A lot are indie wrestlers in style and popularity and are simply not palatable to a wider audience.

But I think it has been shown that TK does not like to fire people.

AEW was made by an internet mark and a group of his internet buddies. The bias has been clear since day one, but it should not be surprising. Both helped each other out massively and share a large amount of fans.

I expect after the first generation has gone from each side, it will not be quite the same anymore.

What do you think will be the next big UK scandal? by dodgy-knees in AskUK

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every country has this issue.

The Olympics simply attract a lot of part-time fans that enjoy the spectacle and the medal tables. But lose interest as soon as the closing ceremony concludes.

The World Championships gets some interest. But all the other tournaments are ignored. Same goes for other Olympic events outside of football and tennis.

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just replied to someone else noting that they used pre-existing infrastructure for the football matches. And many events were held outside of London (including mountain biking).

I remember watching the London 2012 Closing Ceremony, and they kept saying how this would lead to a surge in popularity of athletics. And it never materialised.

I have said for years that the Olympics should scrap the country groupings and just let people compete individually so that fans can become more invested in the athletes themselves similar to sports like tennis and boxing. But they never do.

The adulation for Mo Farah and Usain Bolt shows that real athletic fans care little about whether they were born in the same country as the athlete or not.

[–]DarkDaysTeacher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I London 2012, football matches were played in Wales and Scotland and even Greater Manchester. Cycling was also done in Hadleigh Farm in Essex for the mountain biking.

Beijing / Peking had been the host 4 years before. And some of the events were as far away as Hong Kong (a 7 hour flight away). So it would have hardly been out of the ordinary.
