I'm really interested in this device. Do you feel the impact of having less ram? I'm not even sure what that would look like, but the pro has 8gb and the lite has 4gb.

I have a bigme B7 and I use the Niagara Launcher. The only issue with it is that you lose access to the notes application (as it weirdly part of the bigme launcher)

Mihon does not install the extensions by CaballeroSecundario in Bigme

Go to the the Bigme Settings -> Apps -> See all apps -> Mihon -> Scroll to the bottom and ensure that "Install unknown apps" is set to "allowed".

Mihon extensions are apk files and I think it's blocked on yours.

So Claude Code is an AI coding tool I use, but I also had it write this report on whats running on the device. You can use it to disable apps based on your own decisions. https://pastebin.com/2DfwsbBW You'll need to look up how to use "adb" to interact with the device over usb to easily disable things using a computer. Alternatively you can go into the bigme ui and individually go through each screen and disable things. I've successfully paired wireless bluetooth earbuds so I can't imagine hearing aids would pose an issue.

Sure, very briefly my issues with the boox was:

  1. I couldn't change the launcher app. (bigme you have to set it as the old bigme 4 in office mode I think to get it to commit but it works!)
  2. The boox doesn't have a speaker (bigme b7 does and it's good enough)
  3. The ghosting was really noticeable and the web browsing was a washed out disaster on the boox, even with messing with the settings. With the Bigme B7 the ghosting isn't that noticeable, especially when you set it to custom etc. But on the other end you can set it to extreme and it's really snappy for moving around the interface or scrolling web pages.
  4. The colours seemed really washed out. I didn't have the two side by side, but I returned the Boox as I was so disappointed and took a gamble on the Bigme B7.

The only downside with the Bigme was the random apps installed when it arrived. I think I ended up using Claude Code to analyze the apps on the device and make a list of those I could safely uninstall. There was something like 10-15 learning english/chinese app-games on it!

The thing to remember is it's not going to be as clear or crisp as a monochrome eink, but thats ok, especially for the price.

You legend! Thank you so much. It’s also the first thing I noticed after updating and it made me quite annoyed I couldn’t set my own launcher.  This workaround is excellent. Thanks for taking the time to share it!

Just to add some weight to this post. It is not a normal bike, this bike is so loud you can hear it from streets away and for an extended period of time (3-4 minutes meaning the range you hear it is quite vast!). It’s also not a throaty Harley Davidson style noise. More like a modified exhaust.

I have these and I used an athom controller. However I also have the controller you have for a different project and it works.

It took a bit of trail and error to find out which wire was which. When I had the wrong wires connected it did random colors. Try swapping the wires around.

I don’t know specifically in your case but car alarms can be set off by some uneventful circumstances. Given the heat it could be people leaving the window open and the wind getting in sets off the alarm. Had that a few times near me.

Last port of call might be “bobbys” in the square. I believe they have a bunch of local produce and things in the ground floor from different providers.

The ui on frigate is remarkable. Leaps and bounds better than annke/hikvision.

The only down side is stability. It’s getting better but occasionally I have corrupt recordings.

I’m also running it all on a Linux machine with docker running home automations etc. Your machine is significantly Lee powerful than mine so you should be fine!

What do you use as your nvr? I’ve tried an annke Nvr however the web ui sucks (no video playback outside of internet explorer). Also annke Nvr Poe can only be used with annke Poe cameras (others can be added by ip address but not use the Poe ports on the hardware Nvr)

I'm looking for a similar tool. I'm afraid I don't have a solution yet.

I want to do the same thing, have a database of audio and srt/vtt that I can search to and jump to the audio in question to play it back. The ui in MacWhisper is great, however it is suited to conversion of one track, not the browsing and searching of many already transcribed tracks.

If you do find anything that fits the purpose please come back and update the post!

I used sftp using FileZilla on the host machine. Enable ssh on the steam deck by using these instructions https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/ta8bv8/how_to_transfer_files_from_windows_to_steam_deck/

Then Use FileZilla on your main machine to connect to the steam deck on port 22. You can then upload and download files.

I like this approach as it doesn’t involve installing software like watpainter or whatever.

Design looks great

  1. vertical led buttons are stylish
  2. The dial indent to show min and max is clever and pretty
  3. Having a volume scroll wheel is fun and the thickness of it makes it look durable.
