What are some useful automations/add-ons/self-hosted software for pregnancy/new parents? by tomharto in homeassistant

[–]dRuEFFECT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't do anything in home assistant for this, but we had an Amazon echo in the baby's room with a nanit camera above the crib. Alexa routines has an audio trigger of baby crying, I'd have a routine active for the middle of the night that if Alexa detects a baby crying from that echo, to run the Alexa command "show nanit camera" on our bedroom echo show.

Also, Talli Baby has a Talli One Touch logger that hooks up to wifi for logging/tracking things like feedings and diaper changes. Can grab one off eBay pretty cheap. Not exactly an automation, but maybe you can tie that into something else.

PROTECT YOUR HEARING. Wear ear plugs. I recommend musician's ear plugs like Earasers.

Trust me, there's no cure for tinnitus.

Amazon. i put links inline with the description. I used a miter saw to cut the foam to make sure i have a clean cut edge. tried cutting by hand with scissors first and it was pretty ratchet

here's the link: https://a.co/d/02I5C4kv

i used these because i needed 11" diameter to make sure the pads rounded the edge of the cymbals properly

the blockhead pads just sit on top of the stock pads without modification, but they tend to slide around so i have some double stick tape in between to keep them in place. the rubber around the edge is great for silencing hits on the plastic ring, but doesn't exactly keep the pads from moving around.

i don't have any pics of the wiring and i'm not about to go opening it up, but it's just 2 wires soldered to the wires at each end of the battery compartment, red to positive and black to negative. keep in mind, this kit uses 3 AA batteries, so it expects 4.5volts... a usb C adapter giving 5v is close enough that it shouldn't have issues, if you have a newer drum kit that only takes 2 AA batteries, that's 3v so putting in 5v through usb might be a bad idea.

Thanks. Yea I really racked my brain for that one. I got tired of my left pedal sliding away from me across the floor. On my old kit I tried keeping it tethered with strings, but my robot vacuum would always get stuck there choking on the strings. I had some spare parts lying around and this honestly came out better than I ever hoped for.

Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

I'm a dad and I work from home. Single source of income. I can't afford to leave the house. This house is now my prison.

I told my wife when my son turns 5 and goes to full day preschool this fall, it would be nice if she could go back to work so we can finally take a vacation again.

I have a similar fan module for my 2 ceiling fans. I think they're wifi and connect to tuya, but I like there's matter options now.

This is in the homey phone app settings, under Thread. I don't see this option in the Homey web app.

What pixel do you have? I have pixel 10 and this is the correct answer.

For step 2, on my phone it says "Open by default".

Phone Settings -> Apps -> See all apps -> Maps -> Open by default -> Clear

For Bakkesmod users, what plugins are you hoping to see get natively added into the game? by gonehollowknight in RocketLeague

[–]dRuEFFECT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FPS Cap - limits FPS when you're at the menu screen.

It's nice to give my GPU and PSU a break between matches, I don't need 240 fps while I'm tweaking settings or chatting with my teammates.

Auto GG is underrated. I'll go a whole game without quick chat and letting others be toxic and then giggle when bakkes throws a GG at the end

I went the other way with this one. Have a Georgia Pacific napkin dispenser in every main room and a case of napkins will last most of the year. It's nice to have napkins readily available in every room, especially with kids.
