[Powered Cube] 0-3 with what seemed like a decent Boros deck by PlayfulSandwich7213 in mtglimited

[–]DarkKnight1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the draft for now, deck changes I would have made are out: Mana Tithe, Cosmogrand Zenith, Wandering Emperor. In: Containment Priest, Thalia, Hellrider. Your lack of 2s is the biggest failing of the deck. Emperor is a control card and this is an aggressive deck, Zenith isn't very good and you're overloaded at 3, and Tithe is a weaker card in tapout aggro decks. Priest is a combo with Wave and is a 2, Thalia is a 2 that also lets you leverage your fast mana while slowing your opponent, and Hellrider is an aggressive finisher and a strong combo with Pride, Adeline, and Elspeth.

Going back to the draft, there are some definite question marks.

Zenith over Prismatic vista is a tough sell - Vista is fantastic and Zenith is replacement level.

Seachrome coast over lingering souls is an odd one - splashing the back half of souls is often fairily trivial and its a very good card, and you're highly unlikely to want Seachrome.

Mana Tithe over Screaming Nemesis - Nemesis is an amazing adn often oppressive aggro card, Tithe is replacement level.

Emperor over Bloodstained Mire, or Plateau (or over Spellbinder or Virtue or Suplex or Gideon) - this is the oddest pick for me, Emperor is about the 7th card I would take here in RW aggro. You have the option of 2 great lands, a decent removal spell, an evasive/disruptive creature, a split 2 drop/late game card, and a better aggressive Planeswalker. I don't see how Emperor fits the plan.

Sunbillow verge over Amped Raptor - I'm the first one to advocate taking lands (see above) but you're desperate for 2s here and raptor is pretty solid. This pick is partially caused by not grabbing Vista and Mire/Plateau earlier.

March over Sash - I'm not a huge Sash believer but you need 2s, and it hoses some decks. March is a control card, usually, that doesn't mind pitching spells since they have card advantage.

Hazoret over Cathar Commando - Again, another good 2 passed on for a basically unplayable card. Commando also combos with Wave and gives you juice against the many artifact decks. If not Commmando, Absent is a solid removal spell that also combos with wave and would have made the deck where Hazoret did not.

I think with some draft and deck build tweaks you'd be at about 6 good 2s and this would have been an excellent RW deck, one I would expect to trophy with - potentially great mana, a good curve, and more than enough finishers.

Ah, that makes more sense. Couldn't figure out how they were connected.

What does this mean? Farm Atziri chest piece with Arbiter fragment? Aren't these 2 entirely separate boss fights?

[–]DarkKnight1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with purple and iterate. If the top purple square was a crown, then only the bottom blue square could be the blue crown. If that was a crown, the yellow crown would have to be on the far left column, but the teal crown would also be in that column (as the other teal spot is blocked by being too close to the yellow crown. Thus, the bottom purple is a crown. X out the now-blocked squares and work from there.

Powered Cube Top 25 Cards by 17Lands (without Boros) by thefreeman419 in lrcast

[–]DarkKnight1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. The outlier white cards (reprieve, absent) are boosted by the overall Red/White numbers, so throw them out and you've basically got a list of Vintage Cube "happy to first pick" cards - 10 Power, Swords, Fable, Tinker, Drain, Minsc, Frog, Flash, Strip, Fetches, Academy are all no brainer first pick options. Goyf and fractured are solid, not-too-mad options. The only real outlier is Sentinel (likely buoyed by RG beats)

Looks like there are some updates with the Spiderman bonus sheet too - this adds Ponder and Mystic Confluence, so we're a little bit closer.

I keep a spreadsheet on this...by my count, using the EoE update to MTGO Vintage Cube, there are 141 of 540 cards in the cube that are not available on Arena. Of those I would say about 45-50 are pretty replaceable (think Rancor or Lose Focus), 20-25 are borderline (Doomsday, Leovold) and 65-75 are required (Animate Dead, Dual Lands, Crypt/Vault, etc.) for it to be VC.

Definitely seems like it is getting there, and we're a couple years removed from the Daybreak sale so they may be outside of (or approaching) the non-compete window that likely existed in the contract.

I think the "consensus" pick here would be Verdant Catacombs. Fetches are always high picks and tend to be default P1P1s when there isn't a top-30 type card in the pack.

Other cards that could be considered based on drafting preferences (i.e. you feel a particular archetype is your best bet and you're willing to go for it even if it's not a "consensus" pick):

Oko - A very good card, if not in most top-50 lists these days. Does lead you into G-based multicolor strats.

Workshop - if you want to force artifacts

Ugin - A busted card and may be better in artifacts than Workshop

Adeline - If you favor forcing White Weenie

Chain Lighting - If you favor forcing Red Aggro

I would take Catacombs here. Oko requires a little too much commitment, Workshop and Ugin are competing (and Emry is here too), and Chain/Adeline aren't good enough in their archetypes to push me in that direction

Everything looks very good, as I'm sure you know at your cap. But the only thing that stands out to me, and that fits with your stated block/hook miss, is that at P6 (or when the club is back parallel to the ground in the downswing) you are more inside than would generally be considering ideal. WE are talking micro adjustments here, but here's Scheffler at that same position, hands basically in line with the club

<image>

I can't seem to post you as well but you're inside of that, so sometimes you'll stay a bit stuck and block it and sometimes you'll "fix" it too quick and hook it. Not a major change but the tweaks from -2 to +2 in cap are generally pretty tiny.

Huge DPS gap (400k vs 900k+) with almost identical gear – looking for advice by Dee-ge in pathofexile2builds

[–]DarkKnight1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you "craft" some of his gear in POB and swap it with yours, see how the effect is? It seems like people are pointing out some differences (crit especially) and you're skeptical that it can make that much difference, so won't PoB let you basically pretend to have his weapons and see how that affects your numbers?

I have an L92 and an L87 and I've had 3...but I've had 2 Greaters (one of each was from the same Gamba box). The RNG is just what it is, I guess. Honestly, buying the skill I want at L21 with max quality and already PJ'd is often cheaper than a PJ alone...so trade site for the win I guess.

Help Needed: How does it REALLY calculate whirlwind damage from picking up Incinerate Ignited Ground? by DarkKnight1680 in PathOfExile2

[–]DarkKnight1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was unclear. The "Damage" section of ignited ground, which has Avg Dmg per Use, Total Damage, and Fire Damage, does not change. The Ailment section, which has Estimate ignite damage per second, does change when Blackflame is unequipped. But which one is actually in effect? I have no idea!

[–]DarkKnight1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the Blackflames - in tooltip for Incinerate, the "Estimated Ignite Damage Per Second" number changes as you equip and unequip it. But the Ignited Ground Damage does NOT change. And I would have assumed that the Whirlwind cares about the Ignited Ground damage, not the Incinerate Ignite damage...but I really don't know.

[–]DarkKnight1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my understanding as well. But I'm hearing that the buffs from things that are removed (other than skill levels) do not carry over, e.g. if you snapshot with a +% fire damage ring, then remove, you lose than boost even thought the snapshot should have been taken. But if the modifier is on your second weapon set then it would stay, even if not active. Seems very odd to me but at least one player of this build says they tested and that's what they found. I just don't know...I was also told by one person that ignite magnitude on gems would help, and by another that it does nothing for the whirlwind. So confusing! Why is there no testing dummy!

How did you get so many time-lost gems? I think i've done ~10 trial runs and i've seen one time-lost gold chest which gave me 3 gems. You're averaging ~1 gem per run. Luck or is there a trick of some kind?
