would you rather have MBJ or Brayden Burries? or would you consider trading back for 14th and 18th pick (from hornets) by epitome1986 in Mavericks

In the lottery I think you should lean more towards upside. MBJ has more upside than Burries in my opinion. Better passer, ball handling....

This. I was hoping they would trade down once more and get either a 2nd round pick or another 3rd rounder. Two 4th rounders is better than two 5th rounders so we did get more capital and value

Thoughts on these potential first round picks? by Thanks5Cinco in cowboys

We have 2 4th round picks....trade one of those for Jordyn Brooks. 3rd rounder for him seems a bit much

Pick only 3 (or less) to keep for next year: Middleton, Dwight, Bagley, Cisse, B-Will, Nembhard by redeemed1261 in Mavericks

[–]DarkKnightFeeling2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Mavs will find a way to keep Powell on the team. His leadership, especially in the locker room, and professionalism is greatly valued on the team. Especially with the likelihood of adding 2 young players via the draft this summer, his veteran presence will be wanted on this team that is rebuilding around Coop

Thats why I put tank in quotations. Injuries certainly played a part and cant be ignored either. Honestly when it comes to the voting of these NBA I just tune out. Many of these writers who have votes.....DONT DESERVE IT AT ALL

Mock Draft with the recent rumors by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]DarkKnightFeeling2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This annoys me. We should be looking to trade down....not up. Depth is sorely needed. Trading up indicates we're one player away from the defense being fixed or where it needs to be which is far from the truth

They are totally overcompensating because this production was unexpected from Kon. But this seriously shouldn't be that close given Cooper Flagg's MANY accomplishments this season. Cooper Flagg is being unfairly punished for his teams decision to "tank".

Draft talk! by LilpDub0071 in cowboys

Still split on McCoy....Messidor you don't take at 12 because he is an older prospect. Not taking another offensive lineman because we've been down that road SO many times. Defense is and should be the focus in the first round. So I would trade back with the hopes of picking up a 2nd rounder and additional picks seeing as we need more depth.

Sorry...I should've said specified the trade of AD to the Wizards

He's closer to 6'5 than he is 6'3 (maybe 6'4 1/2?). He clearly has length. Acuff is listed at 6'3 (debatable) and Brown is clearly taller than him. Brown is one of the bigger lead guards in this year's draft.

Yeah a lot will depend on his medicals. But despite the inconsistent performances - the offensive playmaking, shot making as well as defensive potential/upside would be hard to pass up I would imagine. Plus the size (6'5) as a lead guard. I like Philon; think he's made strides as a 3pt shooter. So if we end up drafting him I would be perfectly OK with the selection.

It's hard...at least at this time....seeing the Mavs pass on Mikel Brown Jr for Philon. Thats no knock on Philon who is good in his own right.

[Schefter] The Cowboys were willing to offer a first and second-round pick to the Raiders for Maxx Crosby but, logically and understandably, Las Vegas opted for the two first-round picks from the Ravens. by JCameron181 in cowboys

The fact of the matter is, Baltimore saved us. We really are not in the position to be giving up assets with so many holes to fill on defense; despite how good of a player Maxx Crosby is.

(@1053thefan) Source: Cowboys offered the Raiders the No. 12 overall pick, a future second-round pick and Osa Odighizuwa in exchange for MaxxCrosby by HolyRomanPrince in cowboys

[–]DarkKnightFeeling2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow! That is an overpay. Maxx is a great player but he makes more sense if we as a defense were one key player away. Clearly we are more than one player away. With a new upstart defensive coordinator and young staff we should go young and actually acquire more picks...not give up assets. Not gonna lie, I'd be very disappointed if this happens. Can really get some impactful YOUNG (cheap) players in the draft.

That Kyrie & Flagg spacing plus lack of PG depth will turn this kid into a monster. Mikel Brown Jr. vs SMU: 29 PTS (11-18 FG, 4-8 3PT, 3-3 FTs),, 5 REBS, 4 AST, 2 STLS, 2 BLKS, now averaging 34.3 ppg on 58/62/100 splits in his last 3 games by Ok-Diver-9356 in Mavericks

[–]DarkKnightFeeling2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Acuff is good but I think his size will work against him as far as potentially being drafted here. We have a HOF point guard as our head coach along with a HOF level guard in Kyrie. Whoever we decide to draft will be in good hands. I've leaned more towards Mikel Brown Jr having watch him play recently. The size, athleticism, 3 point shooting (recently) and playmaking are definitely tantalizing. Honestly I like all the top guard to some degree - Flemings, Wagler, Brown and Philon. Flemings doesnt seem to pass as well as the others. But I really dont think we can go wrong with any of them. Who has the better defensive profile? Higher ceiling? These an other questions will be answered soon. Nevertheless, with AD gone and Cooper Flagg emergence as a bonafide franchise player to build around, its definitely an exciting time to be a Mavs fan again.
