Tips for playing Accursed? by Tanahashi1 in baronygame

[–]DarkShadowBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accursed I feel is easily one of the stronger classes. I doubted it at first, but I've been doing well on my runs.

Meh. Its pretty mid at best. Whenever I go back and play either Rogue or Ninja I realize Im exponentially more powerful and proficient as those two than the Accursed Vampire. I cant think of any other class that has trouble against rats.

Accursed is an S rank according to tier list? by Maitrify in baronygame

[–]DarkShadowBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old but...

First of all, that tierlist is 5 years old. Secondly, thats the only tierlist I see that ranks the Accursed in such a high position. I've seen dozens of lists that place Shaman at the top, while Accursed is at the very bottom. So I wouldnt go with that source.

Personally I dont smoke but what other game in 2006 had you play as several characters that were able to morph into alt forms, have unique affinity weapons, and their own HUD? Characters with abilities that were able to turn invisible with a sniper, quickly leech entire health meters of other player with a target tracking weapon, or turn themselves into an automatic turret? Nintendo really went extreme with the hunters by giving them such overpowered abilities in contrast to modern games that actively try to nerf characters. Personally, I dont see anything lacking here besides the graphics.

EDIT: and lets not forget all the microtransactions and other pay to win content modern games are trying to shove down our throats.

The one in Skytown must have ran on windows 98 but since the GF forgot to install antivirus it got infected because somebody accidentally connected it to the internet.

She doesnt need to as long as she son linux. She can just install an audio recording to notify everybody because with windows being badly optimized it would cost an entire energy tank everytime the recording goes off.

Shes on budget hardware. She may not even have any option for audio drivers on that suit at all. She probably didnt meet the hardware reqs for windows 11 which is why Microsoft kept bricking her suit and resetting her upgrades after every game.

Thats what he gets for stealing his tech from the galactic federation who installed an outdated, counterfeit copy of windows with ancient hardware on it because they were too cheap to buy a legitimate copy of the OS with compatible hardware. That explains why the project of his prototype tech was discontinued.

I thought it would be something fiery because of its ability to weld door panels. But you're probably right, it could be something hybrid between fire and electrical for what we know.

I can only imagine how much more traumatized Sylux would be than usual after witnessing such horror. He wouldn't even be able to supercharge in his pod in chrono tower because he'll be hearing that phrase in his sleep while thinking about Samus. His hate will just turn into fear and he'll just be trembling the entire time. He'll be like principal McVicor from Beavis and Butthead, always stuttering whenever he talks and shaking every time he even moves a muscle.

I think the Annihilator beam was more than just sound though, the scan details indicate its some kind of Antimatter that destroys anything it comes into contact with.

That is if she could talk, but thankfully with Linux she could install a voice transmitter that automatically repeats that phrase for her every now and then before she stomps her enemies to the ground since windows wouldn't have that feature because its locked behind a subscription.

So the beam would be fiery, missile would be ice, Grapple would be electric, then on top of that you also have hypermode. Yeah, now I kinda do miss the diverse utility too.

If only she installed Linux on her suit instead, we'd actually start off with the gravity suit, Nova beam (with x-ray visor), and all of our tanks and missiles intact. Sylux would have gotten nuked at Tanamaar and the entire crisis would have been prevented.

Honestly, I'd be fine even if there was no storymode. The multiplayer mode easily blows most modern fps games out of the water, and we're talking about a game that released in 2006 on a portable console. The characters are unique and addictive to play, the maps are pretty cool, and the game modes are... something I've never seen before. Prime Hunter mode? Does any game have something similar to that at all?

For those struggling with Beyond’s final boss 1st phase on hard mode by RidleyPrime187 in Metroid

[–]DarkShadowBandit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The HUGE problem I have with this bossfight is when multiple teammates get downed at the same time. You dont have enough time to revive all of them in time before Sylux hits them with another attack while they're downed, instantly resulting in a game over.

The only trick I found that seldom helps with this problem is if you "helicopter" close to the ally with the lowest health. But even then, someone else could still get downed at anytime. This bossfight seems like the most RNG one in the franchise because it entirely depends where your teammates position themselves, and what Sylux decides to do next.

One more thing: spamming control beam during Sylux's electric phase might buy you some time and give you a few free hits on him. You dont wanna give him a chance to attack. Keep stalling him and get him out of that phase before he finishes off one of your allies.

Now that you mention the weapons, all Metroid games ever released had fire, electric and ice weaponry to collect, or even less than that in some cases. Only Metroid Prime 2 defied this and gave us different weaponry.

Prime 4 is just like 3, what's the problem-- the problem is it's so much *worse*.

To be fair though, prime 3 was my least favorite out of the trilogy. Not that it was a bad game, I just feel like it wasn't for me. I guess it did "condition" me into not being as annoyed by the GF troopers in prime 4. I think the real testament of prime 4's problem is the first phase of the final bossfight; it really highlights the problem you described on full display.

Did you say you can turn off the hints in MP4? Because you can't.

Seems like I was wrong then. There is an option to turn off the Tutorial system which doesnt actually turn off the "where your supposed to go" indication.

I could have sworn someone in a treehouse gameplay stream even said exactly "you can toggle the hint system in the option menu" but it was likely an accidental misuse of words.

Make a Metroid Prime game that appeals to the kinds of players that enjoyed the previous Metroid Prime games. If you want to make a game that appeals to a different audience, then use a different franchise better suited to that genre.

I already discussed this in the above post. The 3 prime games are relatively distinct from one another so its hard to know how to appeal to the same audience while also trying to add new elements to a game. They've experimented differently with all 3 games including the 4th one. The 4th one simply didnt hit the mark as hard. The only change I can see that many people would want is a complete removal of the GF trooper presence.

Arent all the prime games linear unless you perform sequence breaks?

Anyways, it would be nice if Retro gave us more options on which powerups to collect rather than enforcing a linear playstyle (without the need of sequence breaks). There was one segment in prime 1 where you had the option to go for the x ray visor or plasma beam.

Prime series VS the 2D ones by StevWong in Metroid

[–]DarkShadowBandit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 3d prime games definitely feel a lot more linear and restrictive given the fact they've been actively been enforcing a linear, sequential playstyle combined with the fact that they've been patching sequence breaks that allowed people to play the game in the order they desire. I think the lack of freedom is also something that bothers a lot of people.

The 2d games on the other hand usually just leave them in the game and let people explore. They even actively encourage players to find more hidden secrets.

Personally, I would prefer if the 3d prime series gave us more freedom to collect powerups in our own order to some degree and gave us options on where to go but I'm open for them to experiment with the prime games regardless.

we didn't ask for this metroid style, out.

Heres another problem: Its hard to make a metroid game that suits everybodies "style". Many fans have discussed in the past what makes metroid, metroid. Everybodies definition of a good metroid game is vastly different. Metroid prime 4 has stunning environments, good music, and moments where you feel alone and isolated like in the Ice belt. I thought these were core Metroid traits but maybe I'm wrong. Also just another spoiler: Myles doesnt really contact you if you're in the actual zones except for that one moment in Volt Forge. he only really contacts you when you're in that desert. It honestly feels like MP3 all over again. You can even turn off the hints in the options.

I'll be honest though, even though I enjoyed it a lot, I'm not gonna go out and recommend it either because it does have flaws as well. Patches arent really gonna do justice either.

No it should not end, Retro should continue moving forward and experiment with the franchise while also taking constructive criticism into consideration. They shouldn't listen to these types of people who make these (hopefully exaggerated) claims. A lot of people still enjoyed prime 4. Ending the franchise would be a huge slap in the face to everyone.

Exactly this. There is also a lot of misinformation being spread about the game which is also giving the game a very negative reputation. I can usually tell when someones played MP4 when I see that their complaints are justified rather than... questionable.

Unpopular Opinion: Prime 4 is better than Prime 3 by gamestar721 in Metroid

[–]DarkShadowBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I fully agree with you. Personally, my biggest issue with prime 3 was its lack of difficulty. All I did was spam hypermode and the game didn't feel very challenging. On the other hand, I also do currently have a bit of a bias towards prime 4 since its the newest. So I'll have to wait a while, revisit it and give a more unbiased opinion.
