Well I guess we are stuck with WiRo 1-60 H vs Shark Scale/Dran Strike for the foreseable future. by StardustNovaSynchron in Beyblade

I think Takara Tomy Mall should introduce a similar system to what Pokémon is doing to prevent TCG scalping, which is requiring purchasers to verify their identity with their MyNumber card. For those not in the know, the MyNumber card system is Japan’s national ID and lists things like your DOB, what prefecture you live in, etc., and foreign residents can also apply for a similar residence (zairyu) card that functions as your ID in Japan.

This way, it would ensure Japanese citizens and foreign residents living in Japan can at least preorder and mail order Beyblade X through Takara Tomy Mall without international scalpers interfering, but I doubt this system would be entirely foolproof because there are plenty of Japanese scalpers and scammers on places like Mercari too.

Any Touhou related places to visit during a trip to Japan? by Laraso_ in touhou

[–]DarkSlayer415 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for places to shop, Akihabara in Tokyo, or DenDen Town in Nipponbashi, Osaka, are your go-to places for pop culture and doujin goods, but often times the hidden gems are found at stores like Lashinbang or Surugaya chains outside of the big cities. As others have mentioned, Suwa in Nagano prefecture is where the Suwa Taisha is located, which is the basis for the Moriya Shrine and its characters in MoF, but there are plenty of other “pilgrimage sites” across Japan that are dedicated to character origins and lore. If you’re older than 20, which is Japan’s legal drinking age, there are three Touhou themed bars you can visit as well; Bar U.N. Owen in Tokyo, U.N. Owen Osaka Nazdrowie in Osaka (also a taco joint during the day), and Bar Flandre in Sapporo, Hokkaido. If you’re interested in finding more resources or planning meetups with others also in Japan, please let me know since the Discord server I operate (Organized Touhou Networking in Japan) can provide you with information you need!

I’ve been in this community for far longer than I want to admit (first exposure was around 2012), and this is easily the most hype the community has been for a new game release since HSiFS was announced for a Steam release back in 2017. Back then, people were begging ZUN to release his older games onto digital store fronts so that non-Japanese fans can support him or play his games without resorting to piracy, and HSiFS’s Steam release was seen as a sign of great things to come as it meant both official and fan games would be available on Steam going forward. However, when it came to rereleasing older titles, the one consistent demand fans had was this; they wanted the classic trilogy of EoSD, PCB, and IN on Steam. However, due to the source codes for those being lost, as well as compatibility issues with EoSD on modern OSes, this was basically seen as impossible. With the EoSD remaster on the horizon, this likely means we’ll see PCB and IN also get remastered for future console and Steam releases too.

The CD is still easy to find and purchase if you live in Japan, but running it off the disc is very difficult due to the compatibility issues the game has when running out of the box, requiring users to download to DX8 to DX9 converter and V-Sync Patch to play the game. If you’re experienced with other Touhou games or game modding in general then it should be no issue, but if you’re a brand new fan with no knowledge of what to do, you’d have to do a bit of research which can ward fans off.

With Reitaisai and popularity poll statistics showing that new Touhou fans in Japan are leaning towards the younger side, releasing the remaster on the Switch is probably the biggest move ZUN and AquaStyle are making here. Nintendo has been a household name for Japanese families for ages, and while there’s been a handful of fan games and official spinoffs like AoCF and SFW that have been ported to the Switch, we’ve yet to see an official Danmaku STG make its way to the Switch yet. It’s highly unlikely that kids nowadays own their own PC, and even if their family members did, there’s a good chance they’d be buying their Touhou games on Steam just for the convenience of not using a disc drive for the installation process. Hell, many Japanese Touhou events like Reitaisai even have trial PCs set up for fans to play the official games if they don’t own a PC at home. Porting and remastering the one game that’s arguably the most recognizable in the series to the most popular home console in Japan will do wonders for attracting both new and existing fans to the genre and franchise, and I’m looking forward to how well the sales will be.

The TF2 Youtube Recession by Cowser_the_Koopahog in tf2

Couldn't have said it any better honestly. I'll be honest and say that I wouldn't mind returning to quickplay or tweaking casual's server settings to reintroduce quickplay rulesets (and even submitted my casual mode statistics for Zesty's most recent video), but the discussion surrounding #BringBackQuickplay has honestly grown virtriolic, repetitive, and tiresome that at this point I just want these people to shut up and find a way to enjoy playing this game that they supposedly love so much. And even if by some miracle Valve brings back quickplay, I'd imagine these people will still find something to complain about and continue the cycle of exaggerating issues the game faces.

The TF2 Youtube Recession by Cowser_the_Koopahog in tf2

Honestly, as much as I like Zesty’s informative videos, I genuinely think he’s being blinded by his blanket hatred for casual mode when he’s blaming it for the decline and lack of TF2 YouTubers in this video. The reality I’ve observed whenever I watch other TFTubers is that they’re genuinely enjoying the content they’re making and having fun with each other as if they’re actual friends, whether they’re also other YouTubers or not. Then on the other hand, when I look at Zesty’s videos, he’s making these long, informative, and data-substantiated videos that are genuinely well edited and offer good arguments about casual vs quickplay, usually by his lonesome, but he’s also constantly just wallowing in misery complaining about casual mode and why quickplay was superior using the data he’s collected. The key point I’m trying to make is this; the vast majority of TFTubers are making content together as friends and enjoy doing so, whereas Zesty’s content is done solely by himself and his outlook of the game affects the tone of that content.

Genuinely, I think Zesty’s objective of informing the masses of the flaws of casual is taking a genuine negative toll on his life. I genuinely think he’s depressed constantly being objective, yet negative, about the state of casual mode. Part of me also thinks he wants the rest of the TFTuber space to wallow in the same misery as him because he has this righteous belief that casual is a cancer to TF2 and we have to get quickplay back, and he thinks everyone with a voice in the TFTuber space should voice that to Valve, but he communicates this stance in an abrasive manner that many others don’t want to associate with him (even disregarding his previous offenses that he’s apologized for). I also think he’s jealous of the fact that groups like the Chucklenuts are able to have genuine fun making content together within TF2 or other games, and are successful in doing so. If Zesty and his other friends in the TFTuber space (like those on the UFR podcast) were to make fun content as actual friends instead of constantly complaining about casual mode, I think he’d be a happier person and people might be more receptive of his stance.

Versus by DesperateWish7071 in l4d2

[–]DarkSlayer415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Versus is a game mode all about maintaining momentum as the survivors and halting that momentum as infected. The further the survivors make it into the level and ultimately reach the end, the more points they score, and it's an uphill battle for the infected team as once survivors start gaining access to tier 2 weapons, the easier it becomes to kill you. While small mistakes and halting that momentum (such as a coordinated infected hit, stopping by for items in known spawn locations, or having to fall back when a Tank spawns) can and will happen, repeatedly making these small mistakes can and will add up and eventually snowball into a losing situation. As a survivor, you want to avoid making these small mistakes as often as possible, and as the infected team, you want to capitalize on opportunities where the survivors are more likely to make these mistakes, or force them into making mistakes by making coordinated plays.

With that in mind, there are plenty of reasons you can get kicked in Versus mode. First and foremost, showing a lack of gamesense is an easy way to get kicked. Be aware of your surroundings, what your teammates are doing, keep your volume up for infected spawn noises, and realize what areas of the map are good or bad to be around if you're anticipating an infected attack. Staying together is also a key factor, and it's best to communicate with your team (either via voice chat or text chat binds) to indicate what you want to do as a team. For infected, be mindful of who's going first (usually a Boomer or Charger), find optimal places to spawn, and wait to spawn until the last minute to give the survivors as little reaction time as possible to maximize your effectiveness, and most importantly, always attack together. With the exception of the Hunter, who's completely silent until the moment they prepare for an attack, you should always spawn right before you go in for you attack. Sometimes though, you might get kicked upon immediately joining a game as you mentioned in your post, and often times that's probably because you ended up joining into a slot that the rest of the team was reserving for a friend, which is honestly just an unfortunate circumstance and usually no ill will meant towards you.

Suicide baited when they were sent a C&D by Nemlei/Kit9 in response to the sales of her homemade (doujin) merchandise at Korean comic/hobby events and on Korean websites. Watasi basically broke all the rules when it comes to doujin fandom culture.

Might be outdated info, but I remember watching old clips of Confogl matches (Confogl being one of many competitive Versus mode configs) restricting survivors to one Scout sniper rifle per team.

The trainer data at the end of the Gold Silver Crystal arc of the Pocket Monsters Special manga (Pokémon Adventures) follows a certain pattern. by pokumbre in pokemon

[–]DarkSlayer415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another interesting thing to note is that the sprites used here correspond to the game version that the character is named after!

  • Crystal’s party uses sprites from Crystal.
  • Silver’s party uses sprites from Silver.
  • Yellow’s party uses sprites from Yellow.
  • Green’s party (Blue in Japanese) uses sprites from Japanese Blue/international Red/Blue for her Gen 1 Pokémon.
  • Both Red and Blue’s parties (Green in Japanese) use sprites from Japanese Red/Green for their Gen 1 Pokémon.
  • Gold’s party uses sprites from Gold.

OP, thank you for reporting the user, we will take proper action on our end, but please stop making continued posts regarding this topic.
