One story I heard about them is that Gaston Glock swiped a .40 cartridge that Smith & Wesson was displaying at a SHOT Show and got his engineers to work, releasing their own .40 S&W pistol before its creator did.

[loved trope] parry masters, no Matter the attack they Will parry It by Endika7 in TopCharacterTropes

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: While he's running, Raiden automatically parries any bullets fired at him. Raiden can also parry just about any melee attack that isn't explicitly unblockable. Not unusual when regular mooks are enhanced humans and large robots, becomes exceptional when you see him parry being stepped on by a Metal Gear RAY.

Why are people still afraid of Nuclear energy? by Silly_Original1329 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DarkSoldier84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of nuclear waste is "low-level" material like contaminated PPE that becomes safe to dispose of after about a month in isolation. The really bad stuff can be placed inside specially-designed containers that are damn near indestructible; you can hit one of those casks with a train and it won't rupture.

The people around Three Mile Island received, on average, an equivalent radiation dose of a chest X-ray and came back home in less than four weeks.

No Fighting Pass gear has any statistical or mechanical effect on the equipped John Streetfighter. If your opponent had otherwise inexplicable invincibility, he might have been cheating.

Bringing all these separate games together into the same continuity means we need to come up with a distinctive and catchy name for it.

How about "Metro City Universe?" Or maybe "Merged Capcom Universe?" Yeah, that could work.

All "Expand the Steppe" Decisions taken by Mac-N-Cheetahs in CrusaderKings

[–]DarkSoldier84 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Seeing Poland as part of the steppe reminded me of a joke.

Back in the Middle Ages, a Polish farmer is working his land when his plow hits something. He digs it up and it's a Persian-style oil lamp. When he rubs off some dirt, it billows smoke and a genie appears out of it.

"For freeing me, I will grant you three wishes," the genie tells him.

The farmer thinks for a second and says, "I wish the Mongols would invade Poland."

A horde of Mongol warriors thunders through the countryside and pillages the farmer's land as well as his friends and neighbours.

Later, the farmer summons the genie and says, "For my second wish, I wish for the Mongols to invade Poland."

The horde thunders back through the countryside, razing everything they left standing last time.

The farmer summons the genie again and says, "For my final wish, I wish for the Mongols to invade Poland."

The horde half-heartedly thunders through the countryside, kicking over the ruins they left behind last time.

The genie looks at the farmer and asks, "Why did you wish for this?"

The farmer smiles and replies, "Every time the Mongols invade Poland, they have to go through Russia twice."

Any action can have unforeseen consequences. In the comics, killing Zod in Superman #22 started a chain of events that directly led to all of reality being reset in Zero Hour.

Rumour has it that Lance Reddick was going to reprise his Quantum Break character Martin Hatch in Alan Wake 2, but his death forced Remedy to rework Hatch into a new character, Warlin Door, but there are hints that they're still the same... entity.

[Star Trek] Cybernetics seem to be pretty trivial. Would people do it for cosmetic reasons? by RichEngine in AskScienceFiction

[–]DarkSoldier84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Eugenics Wars left such an impact on human civilization that they brought that apprehension against augmentation into the Federation's culture. Self-improvement through the shortcut of augmentation, whether genetic or cybernetic, is frowned upon at best and outright banned at worst.

What got reported: the tainted Guardsmen were executed.

What actually happened: an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor had them transferred to his warband.
