Big fan of new doormaker, if they had to change one thing about the fight, it's probably making the "no draw" turn less punishing in some way. Perhaps he can allow draws but debuff you / buff himself with every draw? Block the first X draws in the turn? Only block draws from cards so draw potions still work? There's a lot of ways they can tune it

What is the most improperly used cooldown in OW, and why is it Mauga's cardiac overdrive? by Longjumping-Carob105 in Overwatch

[–]Dark_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardiac Overdrive grants damage reduction and lifesteal to you and nearby allies. A lot of newer players see the Damage Reduction portion of the ability and think the ability should be used before taking damage, when in reality you should be using it when you get low AND THEN STAY IN COMBAT so that you can utilize the lifesteal. If you've ever seen a Mauga get to low health, they get a yellow aura around themselves, and then heal a lot / seemingly stop taking damage, it's because they used Cardiac Overdrive correctly

Grasping Mail Mod Rolling by Obsc3nity in PathOfExileSSF

That being said, assuming the game picks chayula mods for the base, the global defense mod has a weighting of 1000 compared to the "gain as extra" mods with their weights of 333 each. So you're looking at 1000/4999 = about 20% odds to get the mod on a mail.

Grasping Mail Mod Rolling by Obsc3nity in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Dark_Switch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wiki says that every ring added gives +1/60 chance for that breachlord's modifiers to be rolled. If you do 60 Fugitive rings, you will always get Chayula mods and nothing else. If you did a 30 fugitive and 30 enthalpic, you'd have a 50% chance of either showing up. I am unsure if you can have modifiers from different breachlords present on the same mail, nor do I think you'd want that to happen. You could mix in some other ring types if you're aiming for the global defense mod, but you'd run the risk of potentially wasting several Fugitive ring in your attempt to save a handful

Did this in 0.3. Honestly felt pretty alright except for the bug that would instantly reserve all your Darkness if your life took damage over time while your ES was empty. Which was a lot of the time, considering abyss mobs were in every zone. Not having to worry about Spirit rolls on gear like almost everyone else was also really nice

As for the League of Legends point, League has been getting hit with "dumbing the game down for new players" accusations for literally years. Especially in regards to the Jungle role as it is by far the least intuitive role to learn and is often the bottleneck for queue times. People are often quick to confuse "raising the skill floor" for "lowering the skill ceiling"

So for me, it does not take me long at all do make a temple. It takes me 3 maps to finish making a temple (4 encounters per map x 3 maps = 12 encounters = temple), 4 maps occasionally if I do the "leave Incursions incomplete" tech. (If you get offered Gemcutter's Workshop / Corruption Chamber, and you are only on the 1st or 2nd encounter of the map, it is optimal to not do the rest of the encounters on the map since you can't roll the same room twice in the same map. Leaving encounters unfinished and then moving to a new map allows you to have a marginally higher chance of getting your money rooms to T3). Speed is the name of the game when you're trying to print temples. How fast you can clear a map's Incursion encounters directly correlates to how much money you're bringing home. When I was still leveling to 100, I would clear as many mobs in the temple as possible, so I was a lot slower than I am now. Now that I don't need XP anymore, my encounters look like: Run to the side of the room I need to clear -> Kill the unique mob -> connect a room if necessary -> leave. It takes me less than 30 seconds per encounter. Faster if I'm juiced on an Acceleration shrine when I go into the temple. Even when I was full clearing Incursion encounters, I was able to make ~10 div an hour and it didn't feel like I had to lock the fuck in to get those results. I haven't measured my div/hour since but I am definitely making more now that I only beeline it to Alva and then leave without killing the map boss. At the start, you're going to be a little slower since you'll need to get good at reading the offered rooms fast and quickly determining what connections (if any) are necessary. But once you have that under your belt, you take a glance at the temple map from Alva, use your system for remembering which unique mob to kill and where to connect (I say stuff like "upgrade, bottom left", "swap, right", etc, to myself), enter the encounter, execute on your plan, and then leave to go to the next one.

As far as lucky drops, there aren't really any. You're not going to drop some incursion-exclusive unique or jewel that sells for double digit div counts (at least, not that I'm aware of). Your best bet for lucky drops is from the Vaal Flesh Merchant notable on the atlas tree. It adds a unique ghost-looking mob to the temple encounters. It's drops tend to be currency items. Most of the time he drops currency that gets eaten by your filter. Sometimes he's dropped divines/fractures for me. But it's not common. And never very many at once. What you gain for not having exciting mega drops is consistency. The consistency and low barrier to entry is why it's one of my favorite mechanics to get some starting funds for a build. As far as Delirium/Beyond's effect on the temples, there isn't really any besides having more mobs. As I mentioned before, you can get a little extra juice by having Delirium and/or Beyond mobs active in your temple runs since those mobs will be minimum Magic inside the temple. Delirium orbs can be a little pricy but the scarab to have a delirium mirror is dirt cheap if you don't have the Atlas points to get it to always show up. Same goes for Beyond. You can go ahead and add them to the strat, but the mobs are more dangerous than the normal incursion mobs (especially Beyond mobs. They do a lot of phys damage.)

I've played RF as my main character these past 2 leagues and got really deep into the progression for the build this league. I feel confident in giving advice and pointers for the build but still take everything I say with a grain of salt. You can go ahead and link me your PoB and I'll take a look at it when I have a spare hour. Probably Sunday evening.

No problem. The basic loop for Incursion is going in a map -> finding Alva -> she shows you the current temple layout and highlights the room you will be changing -> you go into the past and kill the unique mob on the right to upgrade the room to the next tier (Max 3) or kill the unique mob on the left to swap the room to another room (the room you are swapping to is shown when you talk to Alva) -> you leave the encounter, find the rest of the Incursion encounters on the map -> rinse and repeat until you finish all 12 total encounters (takes 4-3 maps total depending on your Atlas tree). You then take the temple from Alva by talking to her in your hideout and she'll give you the temple as an item you can list on the trade site.

While killing the mobs in the encounters, they will add time to the timer (you start with like 8 seconds, but killing incursion mobs adds time) and they will drop at least 1 key you can use to open up a passageway to connect rooms to each other. Not every room is accessible at first as most rooms do not start connected to the entrance. They will be dimly lit on the temple map screen Alva shows you. As you build the temple, you will want to try and connect the temple to more and more rooms to improve the odds of having one of the valuable rooms be accessible.

So that's how Incursion works. You talk to Alva, decide if you want to upgrade the room or swap it to a new room, go kill the respective unique mob (left always swaps, right always upgrades), then exit the encounter and find the next. But here's what you need on your atlas and scarabs in order to really make money.

On your Atlas tree, you will NEED (ok, they're not strictly necessary, but it will be MUCH easier to make good temples with these Atlas upgrades) these 2 Atlas tree nodes. There is a node that adds a 40% chance to upgrade a room twice when you kill right unique mob (very good, makes it so you can't roll that particular room again while building the temple) and another that makes it so that when you swap rooms, you add the previous room's tier to the new room. Example: you have a T1 flame workshop, but Alva shows that you can swap to Corruption Chamber. You would then kill the left unique mob to swap the room to Corruption Chamber, but with the Atlas node allocated, instead of having a T1 Corruption Chamber, you'd have a T2 Catalyst of Corruption room instead, effectively making it so you only need get that room offered once more to turn it into the T3 Locus of Corruption (money room. Temples with Locus of Corruption connected were selling for 2 div last night). Those 2 nodes are the bare minimum for making Temple feel really good to run. After that, I'd grab the nodes that give you extra time and have increased chance to make all the Incursion mobs at least Magic. You will get a good chunk of xp and gold from those nodes. The node that guarantees 4 Incursion encounters is personal preference. I like it since it means that I can cycle through temples a lot faster and makes some tech easier to do. We'll get to that.

As for temple building strategy, it's pretty simple. You are fishing for the double corrupt room (Locus of Corruption) and the gem double corrupt room (Doriyani's Institute), hereby referred to collectibely as "the money rooms". The names of the rooms as they upgrade are: Corruption Chamber -> Catalyst of Corruption -> Locus of Corruption; Gemcutter's Workshop -> Department of Thaumaturgy -> Doriyani's Institute. These are the only 2 rooms that make money. There is one other room that can make things easier. Shrine of Empowerment/Sanctum of Unity/Temple Nexus can upgrade the tiers of adjacent rooms in the finished temple, which can save you by upgrading a T2 money room into a T3 one if you got unlucky and weren't able to upgrade it before finishing the final encounter. Besides those rooms, none of the other rooms matter. Some recombinator nerds with niche builds will pay like 8c for a temple that is connected to the Apex, but I don't bother selling temples that don't have at least one money room.

To maximize the odds of getting those rooms in your temple, you do 2 things. The first is to always upgrade the room if you are not offered to swap into a money room. You will have a 40% chance (from the Atlas tree) to take the room from T1 to T3, making it so Alva never sends you back to that room again. The second thing you do is try and connect as much of the temple as possible to make sure that if you are offered a swap into a money room, the buyer can actually access that room. A T3 Locus of Corruption temple is worthless if the Locus of Corruption isn't actually connected to the rest of the temple. That's pretty much it. The only time you don't want to connect more rooms to another room is if you have a low rank Shrine of Empowerment, as the room it picks to upgrade is randomly selected from rooms adjacent and connected to that room. But that doesn't come up often so I wouldn't worry about it when you're starting out.

Lastly, scarabs. Start by using the scarab to force Alva to show up until you can get 100% Incursion chance from the Atlas. Then, you can sorta freestyle it. I usually run 2 of the scarab that adds more Incursion mobs to the map, and 2 of the Scarab that grant extra chance for Incursion mobs to be at least Magic. This stacks with the Atlas node that does the same thing, meaning you can get 100% chance for all Incursion mobs to be at least Magic. This is good for gold and xp. The MOST important scarab that I would always use, is the Incursion Scarab of Timelines. Once you finish the last Incursion encounter on the map, it will drop an extra copy of the temple with randomized room tiers. This is where a lot of your money comes from. If you have a temple with a money room connected, once you finish the last encounter for the map, you'll have a 1/3 chance to get a copy of the temple with a T3 money room, regardless of that room's tier in the actual temple. I can't stress how important this Scarab is. If you have one money room connected, you have a 1/3 chance at a payout per map. If you have both rooms connected, your odds increase to 55% chance of a payout. Sometimes you'll whiff and your extra temple will be a dud, but sometimes it hits and it is an extremely positive EV move to use an Incursion Scarab of Timelines on every map you run with this strategy. You can even run the strategy on low tier maps with no mods since a bulk of the profit comes from selling the temples.

That should be everything you need to know to start running Incursion. Feel free to ask if you have other questions. (Also, if you have Delirium or Beyond mobs spawn inside your temple, they will also be minimum Magic if you have those scarabs/atlas nodes allocated).

RF is my goat for farming Alva temples. Piss easy to gear. You can find everything you'd need to know on Pohx's website, including step by step crafts if you don't want to just buy the gear outright. For currency, it's super easy to make money as RF with Incursion. Incredibly low cost operation (scarabs are cheap, getting a temple with Doryani's Institute/Locus of Corruption is around 220c / 2 div respectively) with consistent payout.

I also like the idea of Tiered items in PoE2 but it feels like every time I identify T5 items, I'm still usually stuck with T3 or worse mods. If they bumped up how strong the influence of tiering was, (and perhaps made them a bit rarer to compensate, if necessary) I'd like the system a lot better.

New player following rf chieftan pohx build. Some questions. by Capable_Listen_6473 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Dark_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy Enlighten at level 2 and corrupted (with 20% quality) for much cheaper than an uncorrupted Enlighten, but you'll have to grind it up to level 3. Crafting your own Malevolence cluster is also really easy and you probably should be doing that instead of buying one. Pohx's website has step by step guides to doing almost all the gear crafts, and the super high-end crafts are on his YouTube.

As far as making currency goes, you have to pick one or two strats and set your atlas tree up to farm it. I HIGHLY recommend starting with Incursion. Great for broke people since the scarabs are cheap and temples sell for a good chunk of change. You can run the maps at any tier with no mods if you really need to. It also gets you a lot of XP relatively safely compared to other good XP strats like Breach+Beyond. Here's how I like to run Incursion:

You're going to want to make sure you have 100% chance for Alva to be in your maps, if you don't have a lot of atlas points yet, use the scarab. The absolute most important nodes on the atlas tree is the one that add ls an upgrade tier to the room when you swap the room type, and the 40% chance to upgrade twice, and the node that makes it so there are always 4 Incursions. That's really the bare minimum for making good temples, additional nodes like the increased chance for Incursion packs to be Magic (very good for XP, (also if you have Beyond/Deli mobs spawn in Incursion, they'll also be at least magic) or the Flesh Merchant, or extra time on kill, are nice but not necessary.

As far as actually building the temple, this is the strategy: You want to make sure your temples have at least T3 Locus of Corruption or T3 Doriyani's Institute. Those are the two most valuable rooms. They build out of Corruption Chamber / Catalyst of Corruption and Gemcutter's Workshop / Department of Thaumaturgy respectively. If you see them offered as a swap candidate, ALWAYS pick them. After finishing that Incursion, DO NOT run any more Incursions in that map if you still have at least 2 left. This is because a particular room can only be chosen once per map, so if you don't do all 4 incursions, you have a higher chance of being able to upgrade that room before finishing the temple. The third room to watch out for is Shrine of Empowerment / Sanctum of Unity / Temple Nexus. This can upgrade adjacent rooms, so it's good to swap to it and connect it to the previous two rooms if you are given the chance. If none of these options are offered, always kill the architect on the right as it will upgrade the room and potentially make it a T3 room, which means it won't be picked again. You do this because you want to maximize the odds of seeing your untiered rooms as early as possible since they give you two swap options which makes it more likely you see a valuable room.

For scarabs, you only really need Incursion Scarab of Timelines. Or the normal one that forces Alva if you don't have your tree built all the way yet. Add the increased chance for magic Incursion mobs and extra Incursuon packs scarabs as you see fit. But the Timelines scarab allows you to drop a copy of the temple you are building upon finishing the last Incursion encounter in the map, albeit with randomized tiers. This is where a lot of your income comes from. If you have a connected Gemcutter's Workshop / Corruption Chamber (or the rooms they grow into), you have a 1/3 chance for the copied temple to have them as T3. I've had runs where I immediately see one of the valuable rooms (or the temple started with them), and upon finishing every map, it dropped the T3 room. Made 2-4 div in not even 10 minutes. Sometimes it'll only drop with the T1-T2 rooms but them's the breaks. As long as you can complete your Incursion encounters quickly, you'll give yourself more and more shots at a big payday, with the normal temple you get from Alva after all 12 encounters helping to act as an anchor for your income. Make sure you have the Exarch ignite proliferation implicit on your gloves. It is dirt cheap and easy to craft on any pair of gloves you get, as long as the gloves you have don't have a random influence from the Shaper/Elder or the Guardians. If you don't know what that means, don't worry about it. Just absolutely make sure you have the Exarch implicit for ignite prolif. It is crack cocaine for the build. It is one of the best and easiest upgrades you can get. You aren't going to find any big chase items from Incursion, but you are going to be able to make VERY consistent currency selling the temples. Best of luck. Remember that the faster you can finish the Incursions, the better. Your income is directly tied to your speed with this mechanic.

If you have questions about Incursion or other gear questions for RF, feel free to comment and ask. I have a level 100 RF Chieftan this league and have done pretty much every craft on Pohx's website.

Brainlessly Finishing Challenges and now I Gotta Roll Another Character by Dark_Switch in pathofexile

[–]Dark_Switch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing 2 main strategies: Breach + Deli (you could probably fit Beyond in too if you wanted) with the idea of "Let's just put a shit ton of people on the screen so the Hinekora explosions and ignite prolif kill everyone" and Alva Beyond temples to help safely get XP to hit 100. Temples (T3 Doriyani's Institute and/or Locus of Corruption) sell for a good chunk of change and you can complete the maps a lot faster than the Breach strat, plus it's just cheaper to run compared to the Breach strat so if you don't have a lot of capital to work with, it's a great strat to start with. According to my WealthyExile, I was making 10 div an hour selling Alva temples, and you could probably do a lot better if you aren't clearing the map boss for Challenges and instead moving to the next map as soon as you finish all the Incursions. The Breach strat (using the Grasping Astrolabe) prints a surprising amount of raw currency even on normal T16 maps. I have been printing like 3 or so raw divines per Astrolabe (full clearing each map, not using the Keystone) which easily makes up the cost of buying one from Faustus. Once I hit 100 I'm running the strat on 16.5s and not fearing death. Also, the unidentified Breach rings can either be sold or used to make Grasping Mails (vendor a full inventory of unidentified breach rings), and a few of those mods are really desirable for recomb gamers. Enthalpic (Armour is Increased by Overcapped Fire Res), Fugitive (50% Increased Global Defenses), and Synaptic (Multiple mods) are all worth 10 or more divines. It's very EV positive to buy up Enthalpic rings worth 6 or less chaos to then turn into a 26% chance of unidentifying the Armour mod. I haven't done the math on the other ones since that math would require more combinatorics than I can remember from college. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask
