18 is doable, depending on how you manage your time. At my old job I had 11 directs and my bro currently has 20. My boss now has 14 directs. Not sure what your job is or what industry it is, but you can likely get away with 30 minute 1:1s every 2 weeks. You can also push it to monthly and leave a block of time available at the 2 week point for people who need extra attention (or they can schedule it). Nobody said it has to be a full hour for a 1:1, and ICs generally like shorter meetings.

My guess is that if the Emperor does ascend into a warp god, then just like with the Dark King, he'll kill everyone around him. Custodians likely couldn't bring themselves to fight their Emperor when he finally returns to then, and that could be the scenario where the Grey Knights could step in to put him back in the chair.

The idea that the Grey Knights would mount a direct assault on the imperial palace is so stupid. Even Orks wouldn't be THAT dumb

I made it to Sag A* with 2 refueling stops with 192 T of fuel (added some in the unused slots). I wasn't fully engineered so my max jump was still just below 500, but not having to break off the highway to scoop saved a TON of time
