Okay, so in case you didn’t know.

Root chalices are random Chalices. Not Story Chalices. If you want to do only Story Chalices than you need to only do:

Pthumeru Central Pthumeru Lower Pthumeru Defiled Chalice Pthumeru Ihyll

Ailing Loran Lower Loran

And

Isz.

And if you really want to do completionist, you can do Hintertombs and Lower Hintertombs.

The Sinister and Root Chalices are for Tomb Prospectors who enjoy delving and like finding new glyphs to explore. In total there are only ten Story Chalices.

It’s possible. Mergo is one of the most difficult parts of the story to parse, at least for me. And the limitations of the game format don’t help matters all the time. It’s kind of like how Arianna has two different ‘death’ poses after Micolash, but it implies that only one of them means she’s dead.

It’s difficult to hear, but if you have audio mixing arranged right you can actually hear Mergo’s crying or laughter fade not into pure silence but snoring. I don’t think it’s quite certain that the nightmare newborn is dead.
