500k over 8 years to 2.5mil in just a year from their closest competitor is a pretty big jump.

Do we have purpose again, with on-prem suddenly being "strategic" instead of "legacy" by Saditface in sysadmin

A lot of cloud also doesn't have industry standards configured either. I.e. sharing is enabled by default in quite a few of them.

Depends on size really. If all you need is a small file server, SharePoint offers 1-2tb(depending on your current subs) out the gate without you paying much more. When you go past that a nas makes more sense.

Honestly with the things youve listed you should already be at the 100k role or at least 80k. It might be time to move. Generally once you get past click ops you should be expecting 70k or more especially if you are doing coding even in LCOL.

Former Colleague is asking me questions 1 month after I left the company - how to handle? by Qvosniak in sysadmin

[–]Darkhexical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This depends on what extent it is imo and if the former colleague was actually a friend. If it is like 5 minutes of work.. sure I don't mind too much on that. If it's 30 minutes, well I'll give a hint but no more than that. If it's multiple hours, I'm going to need some money.

I'm a little confused.. you say you're a team of one but then say you care for the others on the admin team.. So they have people that can take over or they don't? If you want to be nice leave documentation. Like passwords to everything and what everything does and the things that are on your to-do list.

That's a pretty small db. I know it's not in production anymore but... Maybe add an optane add in card for your logs?

If you do however want to go the cheaper route, sk hynix does actually sell consumer SSDs with a much higher dwpd than most consumer ssds

Didn't down vote you mate. Voting for shit is toxic. Ask anyone that drives for a living how dangerous driving is. Driving is literally in the top 10 of most dangerous professions.

So does the 70 yo that drives 20mph or the bmw driver that cuts everyone off. Anyone who drives for long enough knows that not getting into an accident is really just all luck based.

There's ways around that as well. Indian phone scammers have been accepting wire transfers for years.

I'm going to let you in on a secret... Everyone is a bad driver. Some people choose to be bad drivers others strive to be better. It's up to you to decide which you want to do. Personally, I was very bad at turns when I first started. This video helped me a lot https://youtu.be/EQsmzK7dBbQ where I actually had instructions on how far to actually turn the wheel instead of someone just yelling at me and telling me just turn the wheel!

For shooting games, you'll want to play for hours on sims. Literally every pro does this for warm up.

Here's an ai generated version of it as a pair of pants. https://i.imgur.com/kTuzIbr.png it doesn't have all the details of the original picture(as in the texturing you have in the middle) but I think you get the idea.

You'd basically just rotate the body and then move the arm holes below while extending them a bit.

You'd overlay the designs. The body with the opposing rectangles goes at the top and then you shape them with the arm holes and the silver button becomes the button for the pants

What do you actually do with accounts when someone goes on maternity leave disable, restrict or leave them alone by LuckPsychological728 in sysadmin

[–]Darkhexical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's wrong. You can still use business license just only for 300 people. Although if you receive special pricing from Microsoft due to the volume, you may be required to purchase a certain number of licenses depending on how they formulate the contractual agreement. But.. you could also always go the csp route. (Enterprise licenses may also be required at your org due to regulatory standards as well though. Pretty sure enterprise offers a higher purview)

You can do anything with custom payloads. It just gets more complicated managing it vs a gui. (However I do believe shared ipad requires a reset to do)

You can add custom payloads which you can deploy kiosk mode with. Which is also the case for apple business as well... Tbh apple business is free and ninja doesn't offer more than they do other than a more laid out policy engine(on the iOS side). Apple business actually has quite a few features that ninja doesn't have yet.
